I wouldn't've gotten it if it wasn't for a gamestop bundle, but now I like using it to store my spare joycons.

I bought this usb power switch to easily turn charging off when I'm just storing the controllers so the batteries won't get worn out.

But USB A should be good for 1500 or 5000 mating cycles (depends on USB2 vs USB3), which is like 5 years minimum at once a day.

Fantastic job. On your issue of single cord, I'm not sure what power your running out of it but I got one of these for my pi so I didn't have to keep plugging and unplugging. Real lifesaver on the old back.

Try going to the settings on the program which you use for streaming and see if there is such option and bind a key ( or specific combination ) there is such post in Reddit for the same mic but it doesnt let me post it ( Thanks Automod ... )
