I second the Jinhao x750 suggestion, and would also suggest an even slightly larger pen that is in your budget, the Jinhao x159. I have really enjoyed both of them.

Again, interesting. Well, the Amazon reviews for this pen are heavily positive, and it's hard to come up with reasons to not at least try a pen costing under $5.
Not knowing anything about nibs, is a nib a nib? Would something like this do? Or does it need a specific type of shape/mechanism to work with cartridges? If I'm looking for a more flexible nib for easier line variation, should I target a specific material?
