This week I finished Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin for like the fifteenth time. One of my favorite books ever, a Love Actually-esque storyline set in San Francisco in the 70s.

Currently reading:

The Rise and Fall of Urban Economies: Lessons from San Francisco and Los Angeles, about why, despite being projected to stay on the same trajectory, LA's economy has fallen and SF's continues to rise. Recommended by a colleague who's working with California water distribution & rights.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, because it's been on my to-read list for years and I finally found it at the library.

All The Light We Can Not See, by Anthony Doerr, is a World War II story, one that captures the reader's attention in a humanistically real sort of way. This is a coming of age story about a blind Parisian girl whose father is a locksmith at a museum and an orphaned German boy who has a love for classical music and a knack for working on radios. Their stories, which are brilliantly woven together, come together so that the brief chance meeting of the two main characters seems to be one of destiny. It's a beautifully written novel, one that I highly recommend.

There's a WWII book out there right now called All The Light We Cannot See that's screaming to be made into a film.
