If I absolutely had to keep this rig running and only wanted to play WoW, I'd do the following:

  • Upgrade the PSU to a $40 SeaSonic or EVGA PSU. You're lucky, the Inspiron 570 motherboard doesn't have a weird proprietary power connector - it uses the same 24 pin ATX connector every normal PSU uses, so no adapters or weird proprietary PSUs needed.

  • Upgrade the CPU to a better Socket AM3 chip like the [Phenom II X6 1055t,] (https://www.amazon.com/AMD-1055T-Processor-HDT55TWFK6DGR-95W/dp/B00QWDZR20/) which can be gotten used for like $70.

  • Drop in a cheap but serviceable used GPU from two generations ago like the 750ti or the R9 270, both of which can be gotten used for $50 or so on r/hardwareswap or eBay.

That's $160 of upgrades and should limp you through for a little while. Maybe add another 4GB of RAM if you've got the cash left over.

If you refuse to go used and insist on only using new parts, then there's nothing that can be done. Those parts are quite frankly ancient.

I'm wondering if sidegrading to a https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QWDZR20/ Phenom II 1055t or the like in a 6core package and OCing it to 4ghz would be more beneficial for single core performance, anyone break that down for me?
