I will confess to being an AMD fan up front. But for cheap 1080p gaming I don't think you can beat the Ryzen 3 2200G Processor with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics . That gets you onto the AM4 platform which AMD has committed to supporting till 2020, which means if things improve financially, major room for CPU upgrades will exist.

Check out a full playlist of various games tested on the 2200G processor right here: Ryzen 3 2200G Benchmarks.

Deskmini A300W $150

Ryzen 3 2000G $80

8GB DDR4-2666 $47

120GB NVMe storage $30

...and that's it.

$307 plus tax and you have a fully functional Minecraft machine. I do believe the Deskmini will fit the stock AMD cooler if you take the plastic shroud off.

EDIT: You'll be paying this much or more for used systems that offer this performance.

u/shindlers · 8 pointsr/Amd

Link for those of you having trouble finding it. Also, the CPU is $99.99, the 1 day shipping is $5.99! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079D3DBNM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/videogameenthusiast · 7 pointsr/Amd

I'm more on the "70 bucks is not worth it, the 2200g is just too good " side of the fence, and i'm glad that the prices here in germany are reflecting that. I think 50% more for SMT is totally justified.

2200g 96€

2400g 149€

Those chips are amazing.

u/yee245 · 7 pointsr/buildapc

I'd agree. I'd consider just spending an extra $29 for a 2200G, avoid any issues you may run across with not-up-to-date-enough BIOS versions, and get better integrated graphics.

Assuming the Vega 3 in the new 3000G is similar to the one in the 200GE (just with officially unlocked clocks), TechPowerUp's database puts the Vega 3 at about a third of the performance of a Vega 8. In their review of the 200GE, it sits somewhere around 45% of the framerate of the 2200G at 720p and 1080p. I don't think any amount of overclocking of the 3000G can make up that difference, and if you can, you'd likely need to upgrade the heatsink on the 3000G, for which you'd likely be spending more than the price difference.

The only real use case I see for the 3000G is if low power consumption is a specific need, at which point, I'd have to see the benchmark numbers comparing the 200GE and/or 240GE and the 3000G (they could have shown those in their marketing slides but didn't) to see if there is really much of an improvement. Sure, the 3000G is overclockable, but if you're going for low power consumption, you're likely not going to be overclocking, thus ignoring one of its primary selling points over something like the 240GE. Not that it matters much anymore, since I don't think any of the locations have it in stock anymore, but the Athlon 240GE was $50 at Microcenter (the 200GE is $40). 240GE: 3.5GHz Base, Vega 3, 35W TDP. So, basically, a price cut, without calling it a price cut?

u/jedidude75 · 6 pointsr/Amd

Closest in price would be the 2200g assuming you want the onboard graphics.

u/NintendoManiac64 · 3 pointsr/AyyMD

It is not.

200GE: Microcenter ($40) vs Amazon ($58)

2200G: Microcenter ($60) vs Amazon ($78)

1600: Microcenter ($80) vs Amazon ($101)

2700: Microcenter ($130) vs Amazon ($160)

3600X: Microcenter ($200) vs Amazon ($235)

3700X: Microcenter ($330) vs Amazon ($355)

2950X: Microcenter ($600) vs Amazon ($622)

2970WX: Microcenter ($800) vs Amazon ($915)

(this list is not exhastive but rather is to give an idea of prices across the entire price range)

And Microcenter lets you save a farther $30 when bundling with a motherboard.

u/SteelKidYT · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is a decent combo. However, Zen + is available for sale, and the new Ryzen 3 APU has vega 8 graphics for only 99 dollars (Just a bit weaker than your 1050 there. Not a bad deal at all) Ryzen 3 2200g for the APU, and I found A video compatible motherboard on newegg.

u/CowsGiveUsMilk_ · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada
Then definitely go with AMD if you're on such a budget. Something like this would be awesome for a budget build, and even go for that based on upcoming deals.

Note that you're not limited to Amazon as a vendor or those exact CPU's. That's just to give you an idea.

I am pretty new to this and only starting researching and learning under 2 months ago. That's my build so far and I probably spent around your budget if you exclude that GPU not accounting for Windows and monitor. This subreddit has been awesome for me finding deals. My build isn't done and things marked purchased with price are stuff I found through here while the rest is to be determined.

If you are going to go at the low end PC "low budget" take advantage of low price on sale that are going to start, example:

- Check CPU price on amazon for a reference:

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Computer-CPU-Processors/zgbs/pc/229189

Do you see the Ryzen 3 2200G APU (CPU+GPU) at this time is at ~89$?

Or the Athlon 200GE ~59$?

- Check MoBo price:

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Computer-Motherboards/zgbs/pc/1048424/ref=zg_bs_nav_pc_4_229189/140-5590597-4965200

Do you see the GIGABYTE GA-A320M-S2H MoBo at this time for ~50$

As you can see you can get all from ~110$ to ~140$ ( CPU + GPU + MoBo )!? :)

u/Hackerwithalacker · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

Goddamn, u/Suicide_24 now is a good time to purchase with that deal (just make sure it comes with the cooler)

This is a pretty good Amazon build, and can handle medium-high AAA titles and can demolish Minecraft, even at ultra resolutions.

AND IT'S UNDER $500!!!

Why you should use this build...

  1. Why use iGPUs when you can fit a decent discrete GPU that can run AAA at high details inside the budget?
  2. 8GB is starting to be the minimum requirements for a decent PC, let's go with 16GB!
  3. A build with a SSD that is almost 20% faster than base Inland, Kingston, Crucial, and Adata models.
  4. Support for Four-Channel memory and OC...

It would be so friggin awesome if someone could get Ryzen APU support for hackintosh. Imagine building a fully functional hackintosh with a modern <$99 CPU/GPU.

u/BrentarTiger · 1 pointr/buildapc

To be honest, I'd take the $250 and get a ryzen 2400g, new motherboard, and 8GB of DDR4 and keep the old graphics card for now.

edit- Actually, might have to get a 2200g BUT thats still decent. It can overclock, has 4 cores, modern architecture, and can be bought NEW for $99 (I think). b350/b450 motherboards can go for cheap, and 8GB of DDR4 can be gotten for around $80. My reasoning for this is because, the phenom is pretty damn old and I PERSONALLY wouldn't use anything from AMD thats older than the FX series.

Lol this is not the best build option but its a bit unique. This Asrock A300 case and board thing is tiny and uses laptop SO-DIMMs. If you want something super small this could be a fun and simple thing to build.

Asrock A300 Case/board/PSU all in one for $150

R3 2200G APU for $80

RAM Crucial DDR4 SO-DIMMS for $40

u/AK-Brian · 1 pointr/Amd

Cheapest CPU would be a 2200G APU. I know you specified non-APU, but you also said cheapest and most people aren't aware it's an option on X570.

$78 on Amazon, $84 on Newegg, $59 at Microcenter if you're one of the chosen people within range of a store.

AGESA 1.0.0.4 "B" added support for Zen based 2200G/2400G.

Same for MSI X570 boards as well as Gigabyte. ASRock notes don't explicitly state support, but as it's the same AGESA patch their beta BIOS should also function for owners of those boards looking to use one.

Alright. Here's the build. It will be around 470 after tax. Its pretty decent, especially for the 500 dollar range. It will play whatever you throw at it without much of an issue. Its quite upgradeable. Its on the AM4 platform so in years to come when you need an upgrade you could find a faster used AMD AM4 CPU without an issue. Could buy one of the latest GPU's during the time as this PSU has 6 and 8 pin power connectors.

IDK how you want to build it. I could find some video explaining it. We could video call or whatever they call it when you're ready to build. Or any other ideas.

I'm going to be putting together my first pc at the end of this year. A friend of mine who knows of the subject has recomended me a setup according to what I told him I'd like to have. Here's what I'm going to be getting Processor (he told it'd be fine with this even if without buying a gpu) , Motherboard , RAM cards , Power supply

When I asked him what should I get, I told him I'd like to be able to play gta 5 and pubg, while not spending way too much. He came up with this, how is it?

Btw I'd like to learn about it so can anyone link some videos on how to how and what is what? I've merely a general idea if not less of what I'm getting into so it'd be fine to learn a bit.

Thanks so much! Could you tell me what you think about pairing either this or this with this? One question I have is.. do those have better graphics than the 2x AMD Radeon HD 6750s I have? I saw someone say you could still use GPUs with the APU, but would either APU be better in the first place?

Sorry for asking so much, I'm just on a tight budget and don't want to spend a bunch and find out something isn't compatible or isn't even an upgrade.

it will most likely go down

And its £78 on amazon, not £82

He uses an online program similar to SalesForce. So no loads on his PC other than MS Office, Photo Viewer, and maybe Windows Media Center.

What would you suggest for the CPU instead?

I'm thinking I could substitute the CPU with an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Processor w/ Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and just install an SSD to give him the speed he's looking for.

u/xXDanger_ZoneXx · 1 pointr/computers

That would definitely be a mistake to purchase that CPU.

As long as you have a quad-core CPU which was made in the last few years, you could easily game with an appropriate GPU. The CPU you listed is only dual-core. It won't be an awful gaming experience, but there are games which won't run on only two cores.

If you wanted an alternative to the CPU you listed you could either go for a Ryzen 3 1200 or a Ryzen 3 2200G. The Ryzen 3 1200 is a new quad-core processor and is only about $20 more than the CPU you linked. The Ryzen 3 2200G is about $40 more, but it has built-in Radeon graphics which I've seen perform really well. Just make sure you get enough high speed memory if you go with the Ryzen 3 2200G.

2200g+mATX Motherboard+ 16gb 2400mhz ~$210

The motherboard is not the best but has the video connections you require. It will allow for mild overclocking but you may want higher clocked RAM 3000mhz+, it’s about $5 difference. $20 more on a motherboard will provide a heatsink on the VRMs to further improve overclocking.

Amazon dropped the price for their chips a bit as well, though not as much as CC.

I was keeping an eye on the 2200G for a budget build. Now $120 @ amazon.

Free shipping and easy returns may seal it for the small price gap.

u/jmsinclair88 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

You can find the 2200G for like $80 and it’s got 4 cores instead of the 200ge’s 2

Yeah, $150 is gonna be rough even if you live near a Microcenter and you certainly won't be able to go Ryzen 5 unless you get it on sale.

If you live near a Microcenter you can get the Ryzen 3 2200g for $60. Then from Newegg you can get this MB (which is microATX, something that may or may not bother you) for $60 and this stick of RAM for $32.99. That comes out to $152.99 but that's before tax. If you don't live near a MC, add another $20 for the CPU. If you want/need full ATX add another $20 for the MB. And with 8GB of memory, you're not going to have a lot of breathing room to do multiple things at once on your rig.

u/LAST_TO_DIE · 1 pointr/buildapc

I just want a processor which can atleast play mid range games like rocket league, csgo etc I'm going to try to get a graphics card later (as they are almost as expensive as the whole rig) will this processor work? thanks

Just to help out.

A new ryzen 2200g is $80: Here

What I would recommend is a 3200G brand new for $100: Here

A ryzen 2600 retails for $130: Here but you most likely can find it with a serious discount. So if I were you I would go with a 2600 as first choice and then maybe a 3200g. I assume you have a dedicated graphics card?

Also heres a benchmark comparing 3200g vs ryzen 2600: Here. This website takes hundreds of peoples benchmarks and averages them out. You can see the ryzen 2600 tends to be much more balanced.

Thats my advice, cheers, Velcro

There’s no way this is going to run 1080p 80FPS max but it’s the best you can do with your minimum requirements and budget.
u/sblentercell · 0 pointsr/techsupport

Ok. That's pretty much what I was leaning towards. That's probably the reason why my friend sent it to me lol oh well though.

I've been looking a new mobo/cpu and was wondering if what I was looking at was good. Or if you can make a recommendation on a pair that is fairly inexpensive that would still be compatible with my other parts.

M- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS4FVRN/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

C-https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079D3DBNM/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

and the new case I'll be getting https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FL1D5RV/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1because airflow lol

Curious... Why the hate for drivereasy? I tried going to the mobo support but everything was already "up-to-date."

u/roflpwntnoob · 0 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

The new ryzen APU 2200g for $130+tax and a cheap A320 motherboard for $83+tax isnt too bad if you want something new. Second hand intel stuff would probably be cheaper, amd with current ram prices, if you could snag ram+cpu+mobo, thats probably your best bet.
