Buy an $11 Anker charger. They're legit, Anker was started by former google employees:

Personally I've found the Anker 2 port 24W charge works very nicely as a pretty quick charger. Only $13 and uses regular USB A cables.

It charges my iPhone 7 Plus from 20% to 100% in about 2 hours.

Yep here you go https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LCDJ7LG/

Im using the amazon basics 6ft braided cable but the Anker brand cable is really good too

u/unreqistered · 3 pointsr/ipad

Since the 9.7 doesn't support fast-charge any decent charger will do the trick.

I'm a big fan of the Anker line of products, their quality and customer service are tops

I use this cable all the time, it works fine.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Braided-Tangle-Free-Gold-Plated-Connectors/dp/B00SUX3XQC/

Sometimes I use this charger, it also works fine. The Surface 3 never draws more than 2.4A.
The Surface 3 charger is over rated (meaning it's specs are higher than needed).

I've already purchased several USB-C cables and power bricks in anticipation for the Switch. Went Anker for their manufacturing quality, so it wasn't the cheapest, but the fact that it will be more common in the coming years made me feel less skittish about investing in it.

I hate the fact that my 3DS is so difficult to charge, and I just know that solving that issue will greatly improve my love for the consoles.

In case anyone is interested, I purchased this charger as it is 2.4 amps per port, which is close to what the Switch spec is. Essentially it is enough to charge the console in a timely fashion in a room away from the dock.
I purchased this cable since flexibility is more important when gaming plugged in versus the external protection that braiding provides.

Great write-up. I'm probably going to buy those pants and maybe another item or two. Even after ~10 long one-bag trips I'm still working on refining my load.

> USB drive x2 – My laptop’s hard drive isn’t huge, so I use these for extra storage.

Check out these tiny Sandisk drives. They're so small you could probably just leave them in your MacBook all the time.

> One thing my bag is missing that I wish I’d had: A European USB charger.

I recommend picking up some small, cheap adapters (look around and you can find even smaller ones) and coupling them with your USB chargers from home.

I prefer multi-port, high-speed chargers (2+ amps/port) such as this one. Even better, grab a 4-port charger if you have more than 2 devices to charge. While Airbnbs have plenty of outlets, hotels are often skimpy—and one of them is consumed by your MacBook—so it's essentially to be able to charge all of your devices with just one outlet.

> Google Maps

Check out the offline maps app called Galileo Pro. It's designed specifically for offline mapping. Google Maps is my #1 choice when I have a connection but it's pretty clunky about offline data. Galileo has tons of points of interest, it can import custom Google maps, and it'll even cache Wikipedia articles related to the area & sights. I've tried tons of offline mapping solutions and this is my favorite. There's a free version as well, but Pro is well worth the petty cash price.

I use numerous chargers, daily, since I go crazy with multiple lights.

XTAR chargers seem to be among my favorites, although I have a pair of Nitecore D4 chargers, which seem to be relegated mostly for AA NiMh charging, these days.

I have four VC2 Plus chargers(although only two are pictured, here. The other two are on the other side of my computer monitor), running on an XTAR U1 USB Hub. They work very well; but I really prefer using my SV2, VC4, and Dragon chargers.

The VP2 chargers get used daily, as well, for my oversized 18650 batteries. They only seem to fit properly, in that charger. The VP2 was my very first XTAR charger purchase, and I have no regrets. They make every solid chargers.

My SV2s and Dragon chargers are my go to chargers for my 26650 batteries, because of the 2 Amp/Hr charge rate. Anything else feels like I"m watching the grass grow lol.

In the car, I carry a pair of MC1 Plus chargers, and they're powered by Anker 24w dual USB (2.1 Amp x 2) plug, which works very well. If I'm somewhere where I can get to an AC plug, I use one of their dual USB Wall Chargers (but in Black).

Another one of those wall chargers powers my pair of VC4 chargers, beautifully.

It looks like OP already has an A to C cable, so it looks like they just need a charging brick. In which case, assuming their Anker cable is compliant with the 56 ohm resistor standard (which it should be, as Anker makes quality stuff), /u/bilge6 you can actually use any charging brick to charge your phone, though if you want fast charging speeds you'd probably want a 2A ~ 2.4A brick. Your Anker cable already guarantees safety for your phone with the correct resistance. If you're looking to order one from Amazon, you can't go wrong with getting one from Anker.

I should note that any charger ~1.8A or higher will charge your phone fairly fast (1.5 to 2 hours from 0% to 100%) so if you're looking to save money and have a charging brick at home, you can just use that.

Ok, so these would be my recommendations for that price range:

Amplifier ($64) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003OELGGG/

This is a very reasonable amp for the price. It is pretty good sound quality for this price range. It also has three RCA inputs in the back, and a 3.5 aux input in the front. This allows you to connect up to 4 different audio sources to it. It seems like you want to have several difference sources, so that's good.

This amp provides 120W per channel @ 4ohms. That means for a typical 8ohm bookshelf speaker, you're looking at 60W per channel. That means it can get really fucking loud.

Speakers ($65) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RMPHMU/

These are actually excellent bookshelf speakers for the price and several times better sound quality than the ones you originally linked to. These come with speaker cable, so you don't need to buy that separately.

USB Charger ($11) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LCDJ7LG/

You wanted USB charging for an iPhone/iPad. This Anker charger is very high quality and provides 2.4 amps to each of its two USB ports. That means it will charge two iPads at full speed, and charge an iPhone significantly faster than the cube charger that it comes with.

Bluetooth Receiver ($23) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KXYXXK2/

Pretty self explanatory. It receives bluetooth audio from a phone/tablet/laptop and sends it to the amp. It can be connected to the amp through a 3.5mm to RCA cable. It is also NFC enabled so it can pair with Android phones super easily.

CD Player ($35) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007F9XHBI/

With was actually pretty tough. No one seems to sell stand alone CD players anymore. There is no market for them. You might as well plug in a portable CD player. The next best option is to plug in a DVD player through RCA audio cables (the red and white ones). It might seem silly, but it works just fine. You don't need to plug into a TV at all, since there are playback controls on the DVD player itself, and the small screen on it will tell you track info. Honestly, there is no point in buying a new one. If you have an old DVD/CD player laying around the house or can buy one on Craigslist for $10, go for it.

Record Player ($99) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008872SIO/

Recored playback seemed to be kinda optional for you, so this will take you over budget a little. However, I already mentioned, all-in-one systems with a record player built-in sound terrible and ruin your records. The record player I'm suggesting really is the cheapest decent one you can buy new. It's the one to get if you care about good sound quality and not ruining your records.

This nice thing about this set-up is that it's completely modular. Over the years, you can upgrade or replace individual components without trashing the whole thing.

Let me know if you have any questions about these components or anything else.

More than likely it's the cable(s) you're using to charge with.

Wife has a Galaxy S7 and used the Samsung USB cable, and after a few months the phone started only doing slow charges with it.

I bought her one of these:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B012WHAG7K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also paired it with one of these:

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LCDJ7LG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No longer an issue, and has been great for months.

Anybody use one of these to charge your switch? What about just the pro controller?

I have the one listed on Amazon with "Upgraded" in the title, and can confirm it works with Switch. I use an Anker Powerline+ USB C cable to connect the Switch to it. I have only had a concern with it one time. I charged my smartphone (LG G3) in the other port at the same time as the Switch, and when the phone was fully charged, the green light started blinking on and off on the charger. Green symbolizes quick charge. If it was blinking on and off, that tells me it got confused when the phone finished charging on whether quick charge should be active, and I have no idea if the energy it was providing was surging as the light blinked. I did not notice any issue with either device, but keep that in mind. Some comments on the charger indicated similar experiences, but the "upgraded" model per Anker was supposed to address that. When the Switch is charging by itself, I have not experienced any issues, and it charges fast enough to continue playing.

As a sidenote, I also have a Holsem power strip with USB ports on it. I have charged my Switch directly in it again using my Anker Powerline+ cable, and it also provides enough charge to continue playing, even when the Switch is low on power. Other brands may provide the same experience, but if you sit at a desk or near an entertainment stand when you play, you could plug directly into your power strip as well.

I have the older version of this and it works great. Charges quite quickly, but not as fast as the one that came with the phone. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCDJ7LG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sd4-ybBYAN333

Just a charger? It's hard to go wrong with Anker.

USB-C might charge it faster than a fast regular USB charger, but a regular charger might be more universal for other stuff you have. Some ideas:

Anker Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C 24W USB Wall Charger, PowerPort+ 1 for Galaxy C9 Pro, Nexus, Moto and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CJ90J6O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_30iOybB3940B8

Anker 40W 4-Port USB Wall Charger, PowerPort 4 for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4, LG, Nexus, HTC and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VH8ENXE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_p3iOybTMBZHGF

If you're not getting a Pro Controller, you might want a USB to USB C cable if you don't already have one:

This or this would work fine.

You should be able to literally use any charger that supplies 2.1a-2.4a power. Something like the link below would work if you already have micro-usb cables lying around.
