I use this one. It's been really great for me. It has a C slot and it comes with a C to C cable so it's capable of rapid charging. Lot of milliamps so you get quite a bit of use when it's fully charged.

u/Masterchiefg7 · 13 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Grab a portable battery pack! I have this one And I love it. Easily 3-4 extra charges, or like 10-12 more hours, minimum

u/GreenEyedDemon · 12 pointsr/GooglePixel

I've been using the Anker PowerCore+ for a couple months and it has been great with my OG Pixel. It charges through USB C and the USB C port also rapid charges my phone. No complaints so far. I haven't tried using the USB A to C cable to charge my phone, so I can't comment on if it causes quick charging as well.

u/lament · 12 pointsr/Nexus6P

Curious as well. This one says it will charge the 6P rapidly. Anyone have that one?

u/ExternalUserError · 11 pointsr/onebag

Your budget is probably not realistic. The Anker PowerCore+ 20100 charges and discharges via USB C, has two additional USB A ports for other devices, and offers 20100mAh. I had and loved that power bank until an improperly closed water bottle led to its early demise.

It's $70 USD, or about twice your budget.

Closer to your budget would be a Mophie Powerstation Plus Mini with USB C. It even has a little built-in cable. I got one of those because it's pocketable. It works, but it doesn't ensure days of travel the way the Anker CorePower+ 20100 monster does.

But 10+mAh, USB C PD, and decent quality on your budget? You won't find it.

u/Innovator_ · 11 pointsr/electricdaisycarnival

Anker is my recommended brand.

Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C, Ultra-High Capacity Premium Portable Charger, 20100mAh External Battery, 6A Output Type-C Port for USB-C MacBooks, Nexus 6P/5X & PowerIQ for iPhone, iPad, Samsung & More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pHk0Cb1CX9Y37

Lasts me the whole weekend.

u/hotandchevy · 9 pointsr/onebag

Anker are really good. I have the 20,000mAh USB-C power delivery ones. It's a lot more reasonably priced and is just small enough to be pocket sized (if a bit heavy). Get two of them instead.

I have 4 lined up for my vandweller weekends away and holiday/home visit flights and they are excellent and going strong a year later.

I use them for Nintendo Switch (probably closest in power requirements as your lappy), 2x Samsung S8, pico projector, interior lights, bluetooth speaker.

u/angry_dingo · 8 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I have this one. Anker 20100 with USBC charging port https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00

u/Beaannyyyy · 7 pointsr/electricdaisycarnival

Yup, just using a generic USB battery pack that I'll carry in my backpack. This one specifically: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've never measured exact how long it'll run but I (very conservatively) estimate at least about 10 hours on a full charge.

Hope to see you there too!

u/higgs_bosom · 7 pointsr/mac

One factor that's nice about the 12" is that you can power it all day from high end external power bricks because of the low power consumption. It's really nice to have guaranteed all day battery life, especially if you like to tether and work outside.

I'd say go to an Apple Store and buy whatever model you like, and if you aren't satisfied return/exchange it within the 14-day window.

u/archon810 · 7 pointsr/Android

> I recently purchased the Anker PowerCore 20100 USB-C PD external battery

Except he clearly states it does. "I recently purchased the Anker PowerCore 20100 USB-C PD external battery"

Edit: OP needs to clarify if he's talking about https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Portable-VoltageBoost-Technology/dp/B01K6S29FE, which has PD, or https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-VoltageBoost/dp/B014ZO46LK, which does not.

Either way, I have both, and they both work with my Pixel XL. The PD one is slightly better because you can actually turn it off, whereas the regular one, you need to wait for it to time out (in order to charge it, if it's already on).

u/browndizzle · 7 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

My suggestion for everyone, reasonable price and high quality (brand tested by the Google Engineer, approved. I also tested the outputs with my own multimeter and noted they meet spec after reading all about his comments):

edit: I was intrigued by the power meter linked above from satechi. I ordered it, will test that device to and see what the devices/cables I have output through it. Probably take more than a week to get to Canada, and it cost an arm and a leg to ship.

u/ChildOfHofmann · 6 pointsr/Nexus6P

I recently got both a battery pack and a car charger.

Anker Powercore+ 20100 mAh : This pack is huge in terms of capacity. The quality is great, and from what I can see the warranty/return policy is really good. I even got a follow-up email about a week after I received it to make sure the product was working properly. Supports rapid charging through the USB-C port.

Aukey Car Charger : I read that the Vinsic charger could cause problem with certain cars by draining battery from the phone back into the car when you turned off the car. I went with this charger instead. It supports rapid charging with USB C, has two extra ports for other devices, looks great and is well built. Would definitely recommend it.

I also bought 2 cables (C to C) to use with the pack and charger. I went with the Choetech USB-C Cables. No complaints there.

Hope this helped!

u/balansse · 6 pointsr/Switch

You'll need something with USB-C PD so you can charge it while playing. Anker makes good batteries, I use Anker PowerCore+ 20100 and it works like a charm during my travels with the Switch.

u/cd109876 · 6 pointsr/chromeos

Well, regular usb type-a ports cant deliver more than 5v 2.4a. I think it breaks USB regulations. However, usb-c can do a lot better. You would need a usb-c battery, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK

There aren’t many usb-c banks yet, so you might not be able to find a higher capacity one. The next thing that can provide more than 5v 2.4a that would work that isn't usb-c is just ac power itself, like this. https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Outlet-Battery-Pack-ChargeTech/dp/B0116BX968

Those two types will be your only options. Every other type of USB can't provide more than 2.4 amps. You might be able to find a few with higher capacities, because I didn't really look and just got some examples.

u/TheRealZombieBear · 6 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I use this anker powerbank but I always carry a messenger bag; if you don't have something to carry it in it's heavy and bulky

Edit: On the brightside, it also doubles as a night stick if somebody tries to rob you

u/mistermagicman · 6 pointsr/iphone

Well there is this

u/shypl · 6 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I've used and HIGHLY recommend the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 (20,100mAh). It has a USB-C charging port and a 6A output. It's $66 on Amazon. Another commenter on this thread recommended it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00

If you want to spend a little less for (basically) the same product without many trade-offs, you can go with the Anker PowerCore 20100 (20,100mAh). It doesn't have USB-C. It has a 4.8A output. It's basically the same product minus the USB-C port and a little less Amp output. It's $40 on Amazon but Walmart (not sure if Australia has Walmarts) also sells it so you can get them to price match it

My understanding is the Li-ion batteries must be in carry on (not checked) unless they are are part of some other equipment (eg: a laptop). source

So that battery wouldn't be allowed at all.

I have one of these, which is 100Wh so it's (barely) allowed in carry on.

u/Ramacher · 5 pointsr/nexus5x

I bought the 20100mAh type C battery pack for... hold on a second. I thought I paid $79.99 for it on May 20 but I just looked right now in my order history and turns out I paid $49.99 and now it's going for $59.99!

Guess you're right, I got thrown off by the 50% off shown on the amazon page.

u/despoticdanks · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

This is the one I bought. I got really lucky and it was an Amazon Prime Daily Deal yesterday so I only paid $26.99 for it.

This was the other one I was considering. Note this one has a 5V/3A Type C port for both charging the brick and charging your device (switch input/output with the button on the brick). If it hadn't been for the sweet deal on the other one, I would have much more seriously considered this.

Anker is a very reputable brand for portable battery chargers and, from what I've heard, is the go to brand for most Ingress players.

u/sirpaul589 · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I really like the Anker USB C power bank:
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B014ZO46LK/

Only downside is that you have to click the power button before using the USB C port to charge your phone, otherwise your phone will try to charge the battery pack.

Funny thing is the power bank can charge the 6P faster than the charger it came with. Love it!

u/ben174 · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

On the new MacBook, you can't charge with a USB Type A to USB C cable. So those portable chargers don't work. I had to buy one of these for portable charging and go USB C -> USB C

u/lengau · 4 pointsr/GooglePixel

I can second getting an Anker PowerCore. It depends what you're willing to spend and how you want to use it what you should get, but:

  • The 13000 will get you probably 3.5ish charges.
  • The 20100 will get you 5-6 charges. This is the one I have.
  • If you want to spend an extra $20 on it, the 20100 USB-C version (the one /u/Kr0m100 has, I think) also has USB-PD for faster charging. If I hadn't got mine on sale for under $30, this is the one I'd have got.
u/TheHuntingHunty · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There are already car adapters and battery packs available to help recharge your system on the go.

u/CapitalQ · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

OP is better off getting an Anker PowerCore+ with USB-C to charge the Switch at higher speeds.

The Anker you linked won't come with a cable that connects to the Switch.

u/KoolAidMan00 · 4 pointsr/nintendo

Yeah, they're nice. I picked up the 20100 because I have new carry-on luggage with USB ports built in. You use a battery pack inside the luggage to power those ports. I know, crazy.

Here's a link to the larger battery without the USB C wall charger: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&sr=1-10&m=A294P4X9EWVXLJ&tag=ianker-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B014ZO46LK&keywords=battery+charge&qid=1485119219&kwr_id=179

Anyway, I'm curious to see how much faster charging from the USB C port is on the larger unit. Good luck making your pick!

u/glidej · 3 pointsr/motorcycles

I pack a very similar kit, the same luggage in fact. Here's how my kit has evolved.

  • I use a Kriega US-20 as a tail bag. This carries my clothes and acts as my general bullshit spot. It's never more than half full. I put it as far forward on the back of my bike as I can so I can use it as a backrest on longer transits.
  • I strap a Half Dome 2+ immediately behind the Kriega. It's seriously tiny and super easy to setup.
  • I cut down some small trash cans from the dollar store to create semi-hard liners for the soft luggage. The whole bag is less prone to deforming and is easier to mount like this. As an added bonus, you can pull everything out of a pannier at once by just grabbing the liner.
  • This is purely personal, but I hate wearing a backpack when I ride. I use a very small, magnetic tank bag for misc day needs like water and snacks. The OP derided batteries as heavy but my 20k mAh battery worked well for me.

A couple things I highly recommend from OP's kit:

  • Rokstraps are worth every penny. He contrasted them with static straps, but they shine in comparison to cheap bungie nets even more. They don't wear out randomly and fail. Don't fuck with anything else.
  • Just get a cheap synthetic sleeping bag and compress the shit out of it. Use the several hundred dollars you saved to take a longer, cooler trip.
  • The stove he recommend is great, they do everything you need.

Here's a another picture of the my load-out. It worked well for 3 week trip for me (but I didn't have to deal with cold weather).

Anker. Specifically:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D8C6ULO/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XYBPMN/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y25Y6WX/

The charger and battery are specifically listed on the SoundDevices page as supported for the MixPre-6, which requires a lot of power to run in normal mode. See the SoundDevices recommendations here:

https://www.sounddevices.com/tech-notes/mixpre-3-mixpre-6-powering-options

The MixPre-3 isn't quite so aggressive but USB C is a standard that is all over the place with regard to data speeds and power carried. The MixPre recorders are USB 2.0 so power is the real concern and not speed.

Edit: The reason the cables are so stiff is the wires have to be beefy to carry that much power without overheating and failing. Most USB A ports and chargers only carry 10-12 watts. The full USB C spec goes to 100. Everything should fall back to the lowest common safe value if it all works. If you need flexible, then you will have to get shorter cables.

Edit2: I just plugged the supplied USB C to dual USB A cable into a mid-2010 MBP and plugged in my MixPre-6. I got a green battery indicator with two and one USB A connector attached and the mics all responded correctly. I didn't actually record as it was inconvenient.

I had a cheap generic USB A to C cable from a few years ago I had and it produced an amber battery display indicating lower power mode and only the first two preamps were functioning as ex[ected. I suspect I have another similar cable in a tablet box but I've never used it. I'll break it out if you wish.

Anker!

Anker PowerCore 20100mAh because they are so so cheap and reliable!

or

Anker PowerCore+ 20100mAh if you have an item that needs more amperage. USB-C phones or Nintendo Switch, something that wants a little more oomf. Not that more exp.

We own two of each for our camper. We live on these things for a long trips. They're also under regulation size for all flights. Both not too bad for (mens) jeans or a jacket pocket for their capacity, kinda bulky but you aren't going to get slimmer for that size. Definitely comfortable to throw in your backpack for a hike. Durable so far (2 years of many many camping trips and flights home)

u/antgoo · 3 pointsr/GooglePixel

Just sharing my $0.02. I picked up this one -- same 20,100 capacity but with USB-C fast charge -- last week and have been using it on vacation without issue. I know it's not the exact model you asked about, but I own two other smaller Anker battery banks, two multi-USB chargers and a few cables and have had nothing but positive experiences with the brand.

u/thirtynation · 3 pointsr/Coachella

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/ref=s9_al_bw_g107_i2

20,100 mah capacity. Most cell phone batteries are 2,000-3,000 mah so this will get you plenty of charges. This one specifically is capable of outputting up to 3 amps, so it will charge your phone very quickly depending on how many amps your phone is capable of receiving. This can charge my Nexus 6P, which has one of the highest capacity batteries on the market, in an hour and would be good for about 5 full charges.

Anything with 12,000+ mah should be all you need capacity wise, since some mah is lost while the charger itself is actually on due to efficiency losses. From there, depending on how much you want to spend, get one with more or less amps for faster/slower charge time. Anker is a great company, to start your research.

u/BokeTsukkomi · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have this guy here, higly recommend it. Have it used in some 15 hours flights.

Personally if there was any doubt about a product that will power your entertainment device on a trip, I'd get a highly recommended portable battery bank instead. You have Aukey, Anker, Amazon Basics, or EasyAcc (my personal favorite, last two products from them still really good almost a year later).

I have the 10,000 mAh one, but this one looks better tbh. Has 20Ah and 4.8A output.

However if you don't wanna have a converter cable as well as a normal type-C on you, get this Anker one.

u/AutomaticReboot · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Ideally you want a device with USB-C Power Delivery support so you get faster charging.

This newest device from Anker, the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 PD with 27W PD Portable Charger, should work for that:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZ61PRW/

Granted it is more expensive.

When I was in the market several months ago I bought the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C model:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK/

FYI if you need a standalone brick charger as opposed to a power bank, this model appears to work, as per this Nathan K mentioned analysis:

Well... this IS a low-power Type-C charger. Please see my comments to /u/IHaveAMilkshake here:

u/Mallingong · 3 pointsr/gadgets

Here you go less than half of the price ($60), and almost twice the power (20,100mah) and it charges the same amount of devices with 2 USB Type A and 1 USB type C outputs.

Alternatively this one is 26,800mah (the largest size you can take on a plane) and has Qualcomm 3.0 charging and costs $70.

Both also have technologies to make sure your devices recognize it as a charging source so that they will charge a full speed.

And a free 18 month warranty

u/queuebitt · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

Do you mean this Anker power bank? It isn't the same version. The non-Nintendo version also have only one USB-A port, but it only sells on Amazon with a wall charger for $100. The one I believe you saw is regular USB-C, not USB-C PD. It'll still charge the Switch well, but not as fast.

Anker has a bunch of 20100 power banks that look and sound alike, but are quite different.

u/Dynamicide · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This one: Anker PowerCore+ 20100, USB-C/Type-C Ultra-High Capacity, Premium Portable Charger, 20100mAh https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_9SJQybPGWWK9X

It has USB-C and the IQ technology which detects what power output your device needs. It's a bit pricey, so I'm waiting for a discount or something, but this seems like the best option in terms of portable charges. But I'm still not sure about how power loss works and stuff, so if someone could validate that this would be a good charger I would appreciate it.

u/DenizenEvil · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

Jesus Christ.

Why not go for Anker? Anker is known to be good. I have one of their other power banks, but this one looks good: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-External-VoltageBoost/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464952942&sr=8-3&keywords=power+bank+usb+c

Probably your best bet for now is buying one of these. Yes, the formfactor sucks but you could rubberband it to your phone if you really wanted to.

The other option would be to use one of the other smaller ones with an A to C cable. It would work fine, just charge the phone at a slightly lower rate.

I have this one, and its been to Jamaica and back without issue thus far. Mainly got it with the "always be prepared" mindset, but I love it. If you have other USB - C devices, you need to be sure not to charge the brick off of your device, because you can do that too ><

I'm really glad the Switch releasing on March 3rd as I'm planning a trip from LA to London a week after. I can't wait to play the switch on the plane instead of the 3ds I usually would take.

I'm planning to buy a new usb c 3amp battery pack for this situation, just in case there isn't power available on my seat. I figure with the rumored 4300 mah battery (I would assume close to the actual capacity even if it is wrong) I should be able to get at least 3 full charges off of a 20,0000 mah battery pack or at least 5 charges off a 30,0000 mah battery pack (assumes a 20% loss through charging).

Giving me more than enough power for the 10 hour flight, if i start with a full battery. Not that I typically even play games the entire flight, considering naps and meals.

u/RedTopSR20 · 2 pointsr/chromeos

No, I understood you fine.

I do know that when using a USB-A to USB-C cable, the port that you're trying to charge from needs to be USB 3.0, otherwise you're not going to get much output. Probably the problem you're facing right now.

I have a portable battery that would probably work, it's got native USB-C output as well as "fast charge" USB-A ports, which are probably USB 3.0.

I love my portable battery, it's amazing. $65, though.

Oh, yeah, the 3' cables work great, too. Tested... full 3.0 data rate from their and 12W from the C to C and the A to C cables and they are also pretty durable. I just like the 6' 2.0 cable to keep the power brick out of sight.

And while I'm nerding out, I use these little magnet holders to keep the charging cable on the nightstand (or desk) when it isn't in use. And I keep a huge capacity battery with type C and A in my laptop bag for extended day use and long haul flights. Man, I sound like a shill for Anker...

I ordered one of these recently and it just came in today. Fantastic price on an enormous battery. Delivers the proper amperage for the Switch (so it will charge it safely), and has the capacity to completely charge the Switch 3-4 times. The only issue with it may be size, as it is ~7 inches long and thick... but not a problem with a backpack etc.

Anker powerbanks are probably one of the best on the market. I personally own this one. The included USB-C cable charges the Switch while I’m playing. I don’t personally know how the one without USB-C manages, but maybe someone else does.

u/echoawesome · 2 pointsr/Ultralight

I think Anker only has one USB-C power bank - the PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C but it's $60. Qualcomm's QC is a separate thing that is dependent on the phone's chipset supporting it. Not sure what phones have it or not, I know mine does but it's not a USB-C phone.

u/suey22 · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

For this model? I'm not sure. There is a 20000 model that lacks PD that I had prior to this. It was only $50 or so. I think it'll charge the pixel at the same rate.

This is as big as you can get while still complying with TSA guidelines on portable batteries, their limit is 100 watt hours which is roughly 20,125mah of battery.

Obviously there are smaller ones which are cheaper.

If you dont want to spend this much, then look for something with 2.4amps of output per port (any more could damage the system); and use the Switchs 4,380 mah battery as a guide to how many charges it will give you. (20.1/4.3 = 4.6 )

According to Fakespot.com, that product has a lot of fake reviews. Usually companies use fake reviews to inflate their rating early on in the product's life. That being said, it's probably a good charger, just process at your own risk.

This model that u/CapitalQ recommended has a lot lower ratio of fake reviews, so that one might be a better option (as well as USB-C charging, though we don't know how quickly the Switch actually charges.)

Also, both batteries are at a lower price than usual (according to camelcamelcamel they're usually around $60), so now would be a good time to get one.

Edit: Fun fact, the Switch actually weighs less than these batteries.

It's nice. The keyboard took a bit of getting used to but aside from that it is plenty snappy and gets the job done well. There is a slight improvement over the 2015 base. Is it enough to get you to move to the new one? Doubtful. But if you're in the market for one, I'd highly recommend it over the 2015 base. (Of course there are some who would benefit with the 2015 over the 2016, built in HDMI is a plus, and not hogging one of your ports for charging is kinda nice too. Exactly! I have a nexus 5x and thank goodness I waited to order my external battery and USB A to C cable. There was a Google Tech guy that was testing all of the available USB C devices (cables/wall adapters/batteries) as the phone has a specific threshold it needs. Multiple people have been recommending Anker, so I am thinking of ordering this one.

u/caseycoold · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

> USB C only supplies high power output if you negotiate for it using USB PD at which point it'll output a higher voltage which isn't what you want. If you don't negotiate or want 5V then it'll default to the usual 5V at ~2.4A maximum for USB. You'd need to add a USB PD negotiation board and a buck converter to get 5V at 4+A. USB PD does support 5V at 3A directly

> BMS is a Battery Management System and just handles overdischarge/overcharge/charge balancing. They're used together with a buck/boost converter to get the final output voltage. In the case of the USB powerbanks, both of these parts are combined into a single board.

Most BMS (at this scale) can do both. Like the part I linked. The batteries for this type of system are usually 3.7V because of how they are built. The USB power packs do both power distribution and converting and charging

> The reason why you're finding it difficult to find anything is because you're searching for the wrong item.

Kinda rude when you don't know my background and task.

> you'd still need the USB PD negotiation board and you'll need to check that your powerbank supports that current. Anything higher than 3A will mean a higher voltage though.

Yeah obviously. This page has several ports that can do 3A per port. The chart at the bottom also shows the high current at higher voltages.

> The button on most powerbanks is just used to show charge level.

The only ones I've used need to be turned on. If you know of a USB-C power pack that is always on, I'd love a link

> You're looking for something in the awkward gap between low current USB powerbanks and high current custom battery packs.

Yeah, I know. But USB-C power banks are so very close.

> The easiest + cheapest way to get what you want is just to use two USB powerbanks and split the RPi off onto its own battery.

Hrm…. that might work. Thanks!

The thing I kind of like about the Lumsing is that it has 2 inputs. So if I'm carrying the correct cords, it can be charged quickly. The anker below, and an older version of that size Anker have been awesome for conferences and Disney but take a long time to charge. If you only need to charge one device, the one above is probably fine. If you want to be able to charge your phone and a tablet also, the bigger one is probably better. If this is what you have, then it doesn't have USB-PD, but it does have USB-C (the oval-ish port on the end doubles as both input to charge the bank and output to charge the Switch).

I don't know enough about the Google Pixel but I believe you'll be fine with either the RAVPower 20100 QC 3.0 or the Anker Powercore+ 20100. Quick Charging is, by definition, a Qualcomm technology so you're good on that front if the Pixel supports it.

Honestly, I believe all the powerbanks I listed will charge the Switch at some rate. I'm hoping to figure out which one will allow it to charge the safest and fastest and I unfortunately can't say anything for sure until I run some tests.

u/MayflyMan · 1 pointr/Android

Which power bank do you have, exactly? This one, right?

u/Hippobu2 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Really want to get this myself.

It comes with a USB-A to C cable, and has 3A charging. Plus it does fit in to the PDP case iirc (the one that came with BotW SE and similar designs).

The problem though, is that it's kind of more expensive than other portable charger. Wait for a price drop + confirmation on whether you need 3A to charge the NS or not before getting this.

u/onomeister · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I don't think any of the regular-sized traveling cases will fit a power bank as well as your Switch plus a few accessories (you need your AC adapter). You may need a larger one like one of these two:

https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Carrying-Portable-Protective-New3DSLL/dp/B06XW58S7F/

https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Switch-Everywhere-Messenger-Bag/dp/B01N22YAIP/

As for power banks, you will need a USB-C type if you want to charge while playing:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK/

Now, if you believe that the power bank is small enough and extra accessories will not be coming with you & your Switch, then this traveling case may suit your purposes (but of course YOU take the blame if you realize you can't fit this or that accessory - remember you'll need your ac adapter!): https://www.amazon.com/Industries-Nintendo-Switch-Traveler-Deluxe-Travel/dp/B01MY9JB2U/

u/MG5thAve · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Ah! I confused it with the existing Anker battery that is out with the same design. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK it supports fast charging, etc. reading the comments it appears to adhere to the PD spec, and I use a USB-C PD charger with it. I'm not sure what this refresh does differently to be honest.

u/Provol0ne · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

There's this. Is it the same? Or do we need PD for the switch?

u/alexj9626 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

The "best" power banks for Switch are the ones with USB C output cause its 5V 3A, that means it would charge while you are playinng. PD power banks are even better, but cost more.

The one that you linked is really good, its 5V 2.4A that would charge the Switch but slowly like 1% every 10-15 minutes.

The best you can get are these 2:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1493959978&sr=1-4&keywords=power+bank+usb+c

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LRQDAEI/ref=psdc_7073960011_t2_B014ZO46LK

But they are a little pricey. Just because they are the best doesnt mean that others are bad. Anything with 5V 2.4 A USB A to C output is good, but i would recommend USB C to C output because it would actually charge your Switch. I have this one and works wonders:

I don't see anything saying it handles 100 watts with USB C-C charging on the Amazon page or anywhere else. I'm seeing 5V/3A, which is 15 watts.

I actually haven't been able to find a powerbank that can reach 45W and also go on a plane.

I’m guessing you mean this one?

Anker PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C, Ultra-High Capacity Premium Portable Charger, 20100mAh External Battery, 6A Output Type-C Port for USB-C MacBooks, Nexus 6P/5X & PowerIQ for iPhone, iPad, Samsung & More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014ZO46LK

I think the plus is just there to distinguish it from a very similar model that only has USB-A ports. It’s not any kind of protocol/official designation, it’s just part of Anker’s naming system (like “powercore”).

It says it charges laptops over USB-C at up to 5V and 3amps (3x5=15watts). No clue how. That’s only slightly faster than the iPad USB-A charger (12 watts). The product description says it’s one of the first USB-C chargers on the market, so it’s probably weak on protocol features. The 15 watt speed might be PD, maybe not. I’d probably avoid this model In favor of a newer one with clearer specs.

Check out this one: Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD, 20100mAh Portable Charger & 30W Power Delivery Wall Charger Bundle, Input & Output Type C Power Bank for MacBook Air/iPad Pro 2018, Nexus 6P, iPhone 8/X, MacBooks, S10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071WNWRNC

Yes, it’s more expensive, but it also comes with a 30watt wall charger that’ll charge the battery quickly...or the Switch. The cheaper one you mentioned doesn’t include an AC adapter. On Amazon, the AC adapter on its own goes for $25.

Note: this AC adapter, despite being nice and fast at 30watts, still falls short of what you’d need to power the Dock and TV mode.

I believe this battery is probably the same battery that Anker slaps a Switch logo on and sells as the official Switch battery. This is probably the generic version. They look the same, and the weight & dimensions are virtually the same (probably just differences in rounding)

Just noticed the actual Switch branded one is cheaper, at $86--battery only. If you don't have a fast wall charger, and/or aren't planning to get one, the generic version bundled with the 30w charger is still a better deal, IMO.

What you are hearing about is the Type-A to Type-C USB.

The two powerbanks which I know of are: Anker and RavPower

Here is a Anker comparison of cable to stock. Updated PSA

Here is a discussion between those two.

There is(/was?) an issue with the USB-A to USB-C cable included in the Anker; however, if you use the Type-C to Type-C cable you should be fine. Additionally, Amazon now forbids non-compliant USB-A to USB-C, so you can go through them to get a fix

The RavPower is working great for me (when I need it).

u/forthelol · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

IMO, you're better off buying a power bank as opposed to a case for cross-device compatibility. The battery cases for the Pixel has been a hit-or-miss, and they're going to run you about 40-50 each, whereas something like the Anker Powercore+ 20k will run you $66 or the 26k will run you $83. Neither will be as portable as the case itself obviously, but it lets you charge multiple devices at the same time, supports rapid charging with USB C, and can be used with other USB C devices like later generation Thinkpads, the new Macbook, and of course the Pixel

I went with that one. Mostly because I didn't plan ahead and order early enough for my trip on the 5th and was the only usb c pack I could find offered with 1 day shipping.

Obviously I can't compare it to others, but I'm happy with it. Note that it takes forever to charge when it's low, even using the 6p power brick. But I charged my 6p from nearly dead 4 times and moto 360 probably 3-4 times before the pack dropped below half charge.

It's larger than I expected, about the size of a Harmony remote.

1500mAh is only a 1.5A charge. That's standard for most battery packs, nothing great. My old Motorola P4000 charges at 1.5A.

This Anker 20,100mAh on Amazon is $79.99 (not Prime) and supports up to 2.4A on standard USB and 3A on Type-C.

Here's a similar Anker 20,100mAh one without Type-C for only $45.99 (Prime). It is limited to 2.4A like all standard USB ports though. It does come with the wall adapter too however.

There's also this 20,100mAh one from RavPower for $55.99 (Prime) that's the same capacity and 2.4A USB and 3A Type-C capability (except it also supports QuickCharge2.0)

Or this RavPower 26,800mAh behemoth for only $49.99 (Prime) without Type-C that will charge up to 2.4A via stadard USB.

Both of the RavPower devices have good reviews and I've never had an issue with them or Anker before.

Not a whole lot of BIFL things that you can buy for $60, though I'm in full on shopping mode from putting together my wedding registry together so I have some ideas:

  1. Set of nice percale pillowcases, or cheaper percale sheets. We have these for our guest beds, and they're a little rougher than high quality sheets, but pretty thick and durable.

  2. Yeti tumblers are pretty nice, hold temp well, and are generic.

  3. Anything from Anker. They make great phone/USB chargers. We have 2 of these, and are looking at another portable charger for trips.

  4. If you cook/bake, these are some quality mixing bowls for around $60

Qualcomm quick charge 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 chargers will never charge a pixel rapidly as it uses the USB-C Power Delivery instead of the proprietary qualcomm quick charge. That applies whether it's a traditional AC charger or an external battery. It's falling back to standard charging rates as it should.

You would need something like this that supports the USB-PD standard for it to charge rapidly.

I think it can charge 70% in 15 minutes... but not with the stock charger.

With the stock charger I get very close to 1% per minute (and it says Charging Rapidly). I'm fine with that, as 50% charged in under an hour is really quite nice.

However the other day on a road trip o charged my phone with my external USB battery power pack. You'd think a portable battery would charge slower than directly plugging it into the wall adaptor, but on this battery it charged twice as fast. I went from 10% to 100% in under an hour.

Roughly speaking, the stock adapter charged it at 1% per minute and I got 2% per minute with the portable battery. But to get "70% charged in 15 minutes" like the ad claims, you'd have to charge at over 4% per minute. That seems insane, and is way higher than anything I've seen so far. Maybe in a few months some super amped up chargers will come out?
