See about removing the pin mechanism and going for a magnet. I am required to wear a name tag for some functions and I HATE pins so I modified mine.

The strong magnet type. Uses these.

Pros: Won't poke holes in clothes, easily removed, will break away if caught on something (not kill you).

Cons:Can't use it if you have a pacemaker.

Seriously, the magnet-backed ones are best. Any pin-type could be converted to a magnet.
