what I gather from my research, the only major difference between the B450 and X470 chipset is the X470 allows Sli/Crossfire.
which motherboard you get I guess depends on what your budget is.. my recommendation, based solely on experience with the brands, would be either an Asus PRIME B450-Plus, or the ASRock B450M PRO4-F boards.
I just found this board on Amazon Prime Day deals for cheap and I am a fan of Asus, from what I can tell it looks pretty similar to the MSI one you posted. Do you see any issues? It's on sale for $76 which sounds pretty good.

Huge number of options here.
$104
$189 (fancier backplate, fancier lighting, etc)
$116 - middle of the road
$85 - budget, notice the PCIE slots are NOT reinforced with metal (so GPU may sag over time)
$99 - different aesthetic, MATX
$173 - yet another option
$117 - and another
Cheaper boards also give less flexibility/ability when overclocking a CPU. And generally may exhibit older display connectors, fewer ports, no wifi built in, fewer M.2 slots, lack of reinforced X16 slots, no debug Q code panel, cheaper quality capacitors and heatsinks, etc.
That's what I figured. And thanks for the suggestions.
I'll consider this combo.

I'm planning to get this
I doubt I'll be able to get the 3600, is the 2600 that bad? Will it bottleneck my GPU?
Hi guys, thanks for all the great information and help provided. Planning on upgrading my cpu + mobo. I currently have a FX-8320 and upgrading to a ryzen 5 2600x, will this motherboard do the job? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FKT5CTH/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Hello,
Thank you for your response! Good tip on the 1080s, I didn't realize they came down that much in price. The motherboard you linked is OOS at the $87 price, with the next one available being $110. Would this Asus B450 be a good replacement?

Thanks again.
So if I bought this...

RAM: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC4-17000-Unbuffered-288-Pin-Memory/dp/B00MMLUYQK
Would all of that be good, and would that be compatible with what I have currently? Also, two more questions, would I need a more powerful PSU if I got this stuff, and how many SATA ports does this new motherboard have? I don't see it listed anywhere.
I’ve got this motherboard ready waiting for a processor

Question is there’s only 1 RGB fan header on it, if I use a 1-3 way splitter will all 3 be able to have RGB effects?
Also I’m stuck for a processor for it, should I go ryzen 1700 or 2600? They’re both the same price, and which version has the best stock cooler?
Will this one work

Hey. I recommend going on a third party website to buy Windows 10. As for the video card, you can either cheap out and go for a lower graphics card like the RX 580 8GB or RX VEGA 64. As for the motherboard, I recommend picking up this motherboard: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-B350-Motherboard-TOMAHAWK/dp/B06WVFFXXL/ref=sr_1_11?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1550390379&sr=1-11&keywords=am4+motherboard (If you don't mind the red LEDs)
Otherwise, you could buy https://www.amazon.com/Ryzen-Gaming-Motherboard-Prime-B450-Plus/dp/B07FKT5CTH/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1550390368&sr=1-2&keywords=b450+motherboard this one for a tad more expensive.
You can also replace the SSD with a 120GB SSD and buying a 1TB HDD. It might be more expensive, but it will be more reliable.
Ultimately, I highly recommend you go for a cheaper GPU.
Oh ok!
This one is cheap, what do you think of it? =)

What's the difference between the different Asus B450 boards? Is this one good if I plan to get a Ryzen 3600? I heard there's issues with its BIOS and the 3000 series or something
edit: also, how does installing a new motherboard work with Windows and such? Do I need a new copy?
Its not a very good board, but this is on sale:

Hey, sorry for the n00b question, but I picked up https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07FKT5CTH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title this guy on prime day, and I just wanna make sure, you think that's what the TUF Prime-Plus Gaming is referring to in that chart? I'm just not seeing what the TUF stands for.
Anyways, I also got the 2700x but this is my first build and I dont really plan on doing anything crazy, prolly wont need OC. Would be cool to have the option (got two nice fans for the case, so the chart says I may be able to OC)
