It would be good to get an AMD FX-6300 and an am3+ board at this price point. This motherboard is too expensive for your build. This board should serve you well for the AMD FX 6300.

Corsair CX500m is still a quality PSU for a little bit cheaper.

Take the savings and put it toward a better graphics card. If you can afford it, a GTX660ti or a 7870ghz would give you very substantial increase in performance over the 650ti. I can´t really speak to prices in Australia, so you´ll have to hunt for it.

Otherwise, good build! Good luck.

u/letsgoiowa · 3 pointsr/buildapc

At this price you really shouldn't be spending that much on a motherboard. It doesn't impact performance. You could get this and it'd be functionally the same. Well-threaded programs mean they're spread out efficiently over many threads and get along well with stuff like hyperthreading seen in i7s and i3s. The FX 8350, if all 8 threads are properly utilized, can surpass Sandy Bridge i7s and most certainly any i5. It also OCs really well, or so I've heard. If you want sheer performance, you do not need an expensive motherboard at all.
Here's a motherboard for the FX 8350.

That'll save you about $60 and will be much better for your music creation program. Also, the 8350 tends to be a little better at multitasking in my experience. It's also a fantastic gaming CPU.

At this price point, going with micro-ATX is a waste. It's only really for tiny builds and extreme budget builds because that expandability later on is absolutely essential. My micro-ATX board has 2 SATA ports covered by the graphics card, meaning I can't add another hard drive right now.

Since you'd have to get new RAM, I'd recommend getting something a little cheaper like this $100 board:

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008V9959O/ref=sr_1_12?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1373757008&sr=1-12&keywords=AMD

And getting a stick of 8GB RAM, like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Desktop-Memory-CML8GX3M1A1600C10/dp/B008E3M4TU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1373757126&sr=1-2&keywords=1x8GB

You could probably find 2x4GB a little cheaper, but getting 1x8 will let you max it out to 32 later.

Total cost is about $165. However, before I can tell you for sure if it will work in your system without issue, I'll need you to tell me if your case can accommodate a full sized ATX motherboard and if you need a PATA interface.

EDIT: Disclaimer, I do not have personal experience with that board. The RAM, however, is the low profile version of what I use in my own build.

So I just bought the i7-4790k from the Intel Retail Edge. How much should I expect to get out of:

AMD 8320

ASUS M5A97 R2.0

Hopefully enough to get me a nice new 1150 mobo

The AMD FX6300 is a pretty strong processor for the price it's sold at. If you're looking for a decent priced mother board then I've seen recommendations for the ASUS M5A97 http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008V9959O

When buying the motherboard, look out for what socket type it has and make sure it's the same as the AMD FX's required socket. (if you do decide to buy that processor).

u/Gabe681 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Thanks! Checking it out now.

Its at a pretty good price right now at Amazon.

u/TranQLizer · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I got a used Asus M5A97 R2.0 mobo from a friend. I dont really have a budget but I want this to last a while. I can use most of my old build, but I do need a CPU and RAM. I don't know much about AMD chips so any recommendations?

u/anthony6118 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Okay, well let's see here. Nvidia 650, AMD FX-8350, the mother board is http://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B008V9959O/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1420483647&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 does that help? I'm in PEI, and I would rather have it shipped anyway. Could you link some off that site?

u/PhantomLord9925 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I let a Prime95 test run for 51 minutes, max CPU temp it reached was 54 C and it seemed to average at around 52.X C.

and this is my MOBO

Make of this what you will!

u/xX_Justin_Xx · 1 pointr/dogemining

My motherboard doesn't have those. Just some USB ports and some audio/mic connections. This is the exact one I bought.

u/PeppermintPanther · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

A 990FX mobo isn't necessary if your using a FX 6300. Any board with the 970 chipset will still allow you to overclock. http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008V9959O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1427569561&sr=8-4&keywords=asus+am3%2B. This board has most of the stuff you'd find on the one that you chose as well as having room to OC assuming that is what you plan to do.

u/capjack05 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Hey all, I just put together a new PC with your suggestions and I don't have any video output. I'm not sure where the problem is. Everything powers on, but as it's a new build, I can't install an OS or update the BIOS without a display. My monitor only reads "no signal" when everything is hooked up. I have an SVGA cable connecting to my graphics card with a DVI adapter. My specs are as follows:

Please help; this is the first time I've ever built my own PC, and the fact that I seem to got everything right except the video output is driving me insane! I really appreciate any advice you guys can give. I'm hoping it's just this one more problem before I can flag this as "build complete!" I also submitted this to /r/techsupport.

u/Dahbullz · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

My only question with this is that since I'm most likely going to have two Nividia Geforce GTX 460's for my video cards, would it run on an AMD motherboard? AMD uses crossfire while Nvidia uses SLI so are they cross-compatible? Here's the motherboard I plan on buying.

u/AndrewSonOfBill · 1 pointr/buildapc

Just found unimpressive reviews for the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 mobo on Amazon.

Better reviews for the $99 ASUS M5A97 R2.0 (N=58) and the $110 M5A99X EVO R2.0 (although N=8 is not a great sample size).

Edit - swapped out the LE model for the regular R2.0 because of these reviews.

u/canucks84 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

So I believe I have this motherboard

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008V9959O

With that I should be able to support the previously mentioned ram yes?

How do I tell what my power supply can support? Im gonna pop open my case after I post this and have a look at my computer.

What's an FX?

(btw thanks for the reply.)

Hey, currently looking for a new CPU and Motherboard to improve my rig. I recently had to buy a new GPU because my old AMD died on me. This is my current rig

  • GPU Geforce GTX 960
  • 8GB RAM
  • CPU AMD Phenom(tm) X4 965
  • Motherboard ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0, Mainboard

My budget would be around ~400euro to get a fairly good CPU + Motherboard. Please do not recommend me any AMD anymore, I simply want to switch!
Note: This is purely for gaming!!

    Appreciate any answers!

I m living in central europe, at first i wanted to buy gtx 760 but i see that many ppl are actually throwing those away already and buying new ones. Had prepared around 200€ for it, but I d actually go higher if its worth it. This is my motherboard

u/Alt_f4_ · 1 pointr/buildapc

The reviews on that makes me hesitant. I was looking at this Asus it's more expensive. But the reviews sketch me out less. Am I being too paranoid?

u/IGN_MartinEden · 1 pointr/marvelheroes

Your memory is fine. I have a fairly similar rig ( your video card is better). I have the FX-6300 and Sapphire HD7870. I usually can run everything maxed at around 50-55fps, with occasional slow downs dropping me to the low 40's. This is in windowed mode, running 2 monitors, while watching streaming movies, and I usually have a fair bit of crap running in the background. I haven't oc'ed my system yet, even though it's supposedly easy to do; I just want to get quiet fans first, nothing big, just been putting it off. Not sure what I get fullscreen, guess I've forgotten. I've got stuff running for now. I'll edit in my full-screen info later, in case you just want to upgrade your cpu.

Edit:

I closed nearly everything. Full screen I was running at a smooth 60 mostly. ig mobs can make it flicker down to 53/54 occasionally; full-screen mobs can do the same to about 43/44fps, but not always.

I would reccomend the Asus M5A97 R2.0 and the AMD FX 6300. Very overclockable and right on budget.

u/InsideOfTheMoon · 1 pointr/buildapc

Let me just say that League is a really easy game to run at max settings.

You should be able to achieve this with an AMD processor and appropriate mobo.

Finish this with an R9 270X and you're saving a handful of cash.

Maybe the parts are slightly dated but it is something to consider if you want to save a bit.

This should do it for League at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60fps.

If you would like to stick to what you already have, maybe start with only one stick of ram (8GB should be plenty) and get a similar tier GPU as mentioned above.

u/youssif94 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you plan on OC'ing, i won't really suggest going with a mATX.

there is the M5a97! £61.90

the 970AGIgabyte! £56.17

i will be getting one of those for my 8320.

u/Dugachug · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Get a cheaper mobo like this.

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008V9959O

Get a Hyper 212 Evo and you should get an easy 4.2-4.3ghz on the CPU.

u/ramshankle · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

If you're on a budget check out /r/buildapcsales and /r/gamedeals. I've seen some great deals in both subs.

More specifically, I use the AMD fx-6300 CPU with an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. With a good GPU this hardware will serve you well. I've got everything on max settings and I rarely get below 100 fps.

Make sure any case you get has good airflow (check reviews) otherwise shoot for something cheap. Go for an 80+ bronze PSU or better. Nothing sucks more than when your power supply fries and that will happen if it's under powered or cheaply made.

People in this sub may try to convince you otherwise, but I feel that keyboard/mouse and monitor details are not nearly as important as the quality of your PC build. Sacrifice special mice and other peripherals to put more into your PC if possible. I made it to DMG with a $10 keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse before I got what I have now.

Here's an amazon link for the motherboard I mentioned with a nice cpu/hdd bundle near the bottom.
Good luck!

edit: fx-6300 not 6400

The M5A97 R2.0 is a great board. I highly recommend it, it's right in your price range.

u/hawicky · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

I can't really say as I don't have much knowledge of motherboards. This is my one, though.

u/existeddoughnut · 1 pointr/buildapc

The mobo is listed as $74.79, but it's really $89.58. You should get the Asus M5A97 R2.0 instead. Have you actually bought everything except the CPU/mobo?

u/dnthatethescrub · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

ASUS M5A97 R2 motherboard. amazon link
AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
and a couple hundred bucks but that is a little flexible.

u/Damieok · 1 pointr/buildapc

Oh I see for the FX-6350 I would suggest the ASUS board, the 125W is pushing it for MSI board.

It looks like you are using Amazon, the ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 is 83.24 however if you plan to overclock the non LE version, ASUS M5A97 R2.0 for 89.79 whould suit you better as it has the proper VRM heatsinks for it. (Both offer Amazon Prime)

I can look more later if you haven't decided on anything, but I need to go for now. Keep in mind there aren't as many options for AM3+ motherboards as stuff on the Intel side so finding something perfect in your price range may be difficult.

u/Razon · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd replace the case with something cheaper (NZXT Source 210), motherboard with M5A97 R2.0 which is a decent one for overclocking, and get a GTX 760. Better price/performance than a few extra Mhz with a better board

You can cut some money getting this motherboard . After doing the math adding everything up, I get around $600. (the cpu, mobo, case, ram, psu and ssd)

*edit assuming prices in USD

u/i_dont_seed · 1 pointr/buildapc

Oh yeah just get 2 4 GB sticks of DDR3 ram. Should cost about the same. Also, if you need a wifi adapter, I'd take a look at this.

Also, change the mobo to this. For a little more you get better features.

u/WarrenHarding12 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I am on mobile so I can't throw together a part picker, but here's my two cents.

That processor is very weak compared to the rest of the build, and the GPU is a little weak for the money as well.

I recommend you go with a GTX 760 and a GX 6350 CPU instead. I usually choose AMD CPU's when doing builds under 1000 dollars.

$200 isn't bad. I was expecting a little less than that for RAM and graphics but if I can find the 750 for ~$50-75 that saves me quite a bit. Adding a CPU and mobo in a few months would essentially make it a whole new machine.

My thoughts were to do something like an ASUS M5a97 and putting an AMD FX 8300 or something similar.
