Might as well go with a X470 since they are so cheap now.

Btw the X470 Prime Pro is $114 right now and the X370 C6H is $129.

I recommend u/blumethia to look at this tier list and get the best one he can get for his budget. Can also reference this spreadsheet.

The ASUS Prime X470-Pro is a good white AM4 Mobo

Way better than the b450 boards and only 10$ more (it's 150$ right now) also, if you got the white 220t it colour-match the case !

The x470 Strix is better and I would get that over the prime but if you want to save 10$, it's also a good option. if you are a novice then you don't need the extra features of the strix…

The X570 boards around 200$ have poor audio and and have midrange features compared to high end x470 boards (like prime and strix), totally not worth it imo.

phanteks p300 is a decent cheap case, don't bother getting new ram while ryzen does benefit from the speed the money you'd spend isn't worth it, https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Prime-X470-Pro-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07C57Q1XH/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3MTB4YNDHB6L0&keywords=asus+x470+pro&qid=1565252095&s=gateway&sprefix=asus+x470+%2Caps%2C185&sr=8-3 this is a decent mobo if you want an alternative, and for gpu it all depends if you want to switch monitors and or have rtx

u/Makoto_H · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Noob here, are these two compatible out of the box?

ASUS Prime X470-Pro

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Haven't built a PC in like 6 years so I can't remember what site someone linked me before that let you check compatibility.

I have a GTX 1070 and some DDR4 Ram I can transfer over from my current PC, just need a new mobo and cpu.

u/frank_mania · 1 pointr/buildapc

By all means, Asus is the #1 brand for good reason and that's a solid, mid-range line. This model is nearly identical and $30 less, AFAICT the only difference is the sound chip (and if you're running 2.1 sound you don't need more) and the finish/LEDs and the word "gaming" which always tacks $25 on the price, LOL.

u/littleangotti · 1 pointr/bapccanada

Congrats on your first build! Of course it depends what you are wanting to do. If you are strictly gaming you'll have a better system if you go for intel at this price point.

Personally I would go for an nvme ssd at that price point (especially if I can get it at $150):

https://www.amazon.ca/XPG-GAMMIX-NAND-Gen3x4-AGAMMIXS11P-1TT-C/dp/B07KZNTZYB/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=nvme+ssd&qid=1575146243&sr=8-4

I'd prefer the nh-d15 for cooling, though you might have to switch to lower profile ram like the corsair lpx to accommodate the second fan:

https://www.amazon.ca/Noctua-NH-D15-Premium-Cooler-NF-A15/dp/B00L7UZMAK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=nhd15&qid=1575146493&sr=8-1

The x570 motherboard is overkill in my opinion unless you are interested in pcie x4 down the road. This board is $150 right now: https://www.amazon.ca/ASUS-Prime-X470-Pro-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07C57Q1XH/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=amd+motherboard+b470&qid=1575135581&sr=8-5

I might also consider replacing the case fans with noctua fans although this would push your budget up.

Wish I had gone with something more in line with what you have here with my last build rather than the 9900k / 2070 super I'm running.

I was actually going to go for the Asus Prime X470-Pro because she's got a white build going on; but if that's a bad option please let me know; I've only done a bit of research on AMD boards and processors.

u/boris_shanknikov · 1 pointr/buildapc

would you recommend this one over the msi? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C57Q1XH/?tag=httpwwwtechsp-20

u/Surpex · 1 pointr/ryzen

Well, glad I decided to avoid it! I ended up going with this, though I didn't really research if it was better. Hopefully so!

u/dehydrogen · 1 pointr/buildapc

Amazon Warehouse is faithful to their descriptions. I have ordered from them before with my SSD and cpu cooler. If it says just the box is damaged, the box is just damaged and product unscathed. They probably squished the box or it was poked from a nearby item on the shelf.

I work for Target in ship to store and typically what happens is that products get squished or nicked while in storage. Typically, these still get sold to customers from retailers but I imagine Amazon has higher standards and labels for Warehouse Sales instead of new. When you recieve it, it will have a sticker for inspection.

Oh sorry most Ryzen boards are black but ASUS's X470 board is a little white!

https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/PRIME-X470-PRO/

It goes for $160 new and Warehouse has it for $146 like new.

i would avoid the motherboard,3 phase vrm is ....eh

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Prime-X470-Pro-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07C57Q1XH

this is a better choice imo,6 phase VRMs and a really good board all around only issue its not mini itx

Pulled the trigger on a Ryzen 2700x yesterday. Now I’m looking for a motherboard. All the sites I’ve checked recommend the X470 boards over the B450 boards so that’s what I’m targeting. However all of them have mixed reviews at best.

I’ve been leaning towards this one:
Asus Prime X470 Pro

My price limit is about $150-$160. If anyone has any recommendations for an X470 board I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

I read all of that and you convinced me, i dont know much about it all so reading through what you said makes sense after looking at the specs of the b450. I will be taking your advice and go with your recommendation
also, just to make sure. is it this one underneath?

The extent of my "future proofing" is just reliability.

Would ASUS Prime X470-Pro be ok? I know asus and low price aren't great.
