I believe I have the same amount of USB ports on my Crosshair 6 Hero X370.

Might wanna decrease the price there buddy, the Ryzen 1700's $259 at the moment and the Crosshair's $179 (w/ rebate). Both go on sale for less regularly.

Edit: $179 Crosshair is non-wifi, wifi edition is actually $245 at the moment

CPU

While I do respect saving money by spending more for longevity, it is not necessary to spend the premium for a Ryzen 7 1800X. You can achieve nearly identical performance by overclocking a 1700 to 3.7Ghz on its very nice stock cooler; by purchasing this CPU instead, you will have saved $140 just by switching to the R7 1700. And you wouldn't have to worry about low-profile ram anymore, and go for better quality instead.

MOBO

I would use the money saved from getting a R7 1700 towards getting a decent X370 motherboard instead. The ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero is one of the best X370 motherboards for its overall overclocking ability and feature set; and it can be had for $219 at the moment, $184 if you take advantage of the rebate (I would). It would only be a mere $71 more than your current B350 board, while giving much higher overall performance.

WINDOWS 10

You can consider downloading and installing Windows 10 from Microsoft's official website and using it unactivated for the meanwhile. You will not have the ability to change wallpapers, nor will you be able to remove the watermark. But if you would rather not deal with that, continue with your purchase of Windows 10.

Other than the things I mentioned above, this looks good.

Btw the X470 Prime Pro is $114 right now and the X370 C6H is $129.

I recommend u/blumethia to look at this tier list and get the best one he can get for his budget. Can also reference this spreadsheet.

For sub $200, I feel pretty confident you won't do better than this:

https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Crosshair-VI-Hero-Motherboard/dp/B06W2L6GBX/

And it has all of the fun precision boost overdrive, voltage offsets etc. fun you could want. It even has presets, you can run performance enhancer if you've got good cooling and it will set precision boost overdrive settings for you. That's going to be the lowest touch for maximum performance, plop the chip in, set performance enhancer to level 3 and go. If you have a really good chip and cooling, set it to level 4 and offset votage to -.075 and you should get very nearly max of what your chip can do.

Asus logic:

Crosshair VI Hero

Maximus IX Hero

The AM4 board is probably cheaper to produce given the lack of quad-channel DDR4.

Man that's weird neither PCPartPicker or Amazon Price Tracker ever shows the Corsshair VI selling for lower then $149. But hey I'm the one making up BS to support my argument right? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/gj7CmG/asus-crosshair-vi-hero-atx-am4-motherboard-crosshair-vi-hero?history_days=730

I never said anything about the X370 having shorter life expectancy then x470 or x570 motherboards. What we do know if higher power draws = hotter running VRMs, being that X370 weren't designed to handle a 3900x's power draw it would be logical to assume they will run hotter then a X570 VRM package. Being the 3000 series just launched we won't know the long term effects of running a 3900x/3950x in a X370/B350 motherboard until later down the road.

Never said I was an expert on motherboards but to be fair I'm going to guess you watched a few videos and read a few reviews and that somehow make you more of an "expert" then me. Honestly I don't need too many facts to support my "bias" as X570 board are more expensive then z390 boards. That's a fact.

X570 has a better SoC that lead to better support for higher frequencies. Ryzen 3000 did solve a lot of the previous generations reliance on high speed ram thanks to its improved SoC and better infinity fabric. USB 3.2 isn't a big one but a feature none the less. For people that actually plan on fully using 12/16 core CPU's PCI gen 4 is huge. Higher speed PCI lanes is going to be amazing for multiple NVME setups. Though PCI 4 full potential won't be utilized for a while, its good for future proofing.

Overclocking is a joke right? Ryzen 3000 has basically 0 overclocking headroom regardless of the motherboard.

Ultimately we going to disagree on this, and I don't feel like beating a dead horse with a random dude on Reddit so yep you 100% right. I'm an idiot that knows nothing about computers, and I'm just a big bias Shintel Fanboy.

There is a amazon warehouse deals one for $130, alternatively there have been asus refurbished ones for $99-120 on ebay.

Looking for a motherboard recommendation. Planning to use Ryzen 7 2700x. I see there are x370 and x470 chipsets available. I don't want to have to bother with BIOS updates, etc. Was looking at the below board. Good choice? I'm not sure what I'm missing by going with x370 instead of the newer x470.

I don't plan to game, at least not much. Like the IO of this board etc. Build is mainly for a crap ton of hard drives for movies and TV while at the same time running a public FTP server and several virtual machines. Need those cores! Would also prefer to buy from amazon.

Looks you have 4 options...

MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM - Most expensive. I'd probably pass on this one personally, too expensive for the features on offer.

ASUS Crosshair VI Hero - Second most expensive, but probably the best one out of the ones up for pre-order on Amazon. 12 phase power design, decent feature set.

MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON - Quite a bit cheaper. Seems like a fairly decent board. 10 phase power design, claims support for 3200MHz(OC) RAM. Pretty decent feature set.

ASUS Prime X370-Pro - Cheaper again, and again a 10 phase power design. Supports 2666MHz RAM, but may well OC higher. A fairly nice feature set as well.

There are a few B350s available as well, but I personally wouldn't go for one as they're a bit of an unknown right now in terms of OC capabilities.

NewEgg isn't the only vendor. Amazon is the 2nd.
