Oh, you could get an absolute beast for that price. Depends on your requirements too. The Dell XPS 15 9550 is $1,200. The Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics (same as the XPS 15), which would play pretty much any game right now at max settings and is only $800. The ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71 has the same graphics card but a bigger screen, if that's your thing, and has 16GB RAM (overkill IMO, but the other two have 8GB).

I don't know man, depends on what you want and what you are using it for more specifically. Battery power? Slim design for portability? Ect...

With a budget of 1000$ I would recommend to go for a desktop if possible, since most gaming laptops around that budget will become outdated rather sooner than later. Now if it's not an option to get a desktop I could recommend this one

This one comes with almost the same specs, only with double the RAM (16gb) which is also a great thing since 8gb is like the standard in gaming nowadays so if you have double that you should be more than fine. (don't get me wrong you won't run games much better because of the double ram, it'll just allow you to run more processes at the same time)
Also it costs 995$ so it's on the edge of your budget, without counting delivery costs so yea you'll have to look that up.

That pc will play it, but not on super high graphics. I have some settings turned up like track marks and effects, and textures are up rather high, but everything else is stripped down to base and I literally never have a frame drop, ever, except on custom battles when someone spawns in a big destroyer or cruiser with a shitload of AA batteries that start opening up with infinite ammo, and even then it only dips to 30 minimum. The screen size is the biggest thing I'd worry about, as my 16x9 1080p 17 inch monitor is already starting to show it's obsolescence as distant targets are blobs of pixels.

TL;DR Don't expect perfect framerate but it will work. Get an external fan.

A few good gaming laptops that are less than $1000 are the MSI GL 62, the Dell Inspiron 7559, and the Lenovo Y700. They all have the latest i7 processors, a 960m, 8 GB of ran, and weight about 5-6 lbs. The Lenovo and MSI have a 1 TB 5400 rpm HDD, and the Dell has a 1 TB 5400 rpm SSHD with 8 GB SSD cache, making a bit faster, possibly. The Lenovo and Dell have IPS displays, while the MSI has a TN one. The Dell also has a 4 GB version of the 960m while the others only have the 2 GB version.

If you want a 17 in laptop that is also under $1000 or more ram, there is this Asus laptop. It’s specs are similar to the other suggested, but has 16 GB of ram instead of 8 GB.

Gee, what timing! I just recently finished writing my Top 5 Best Budget Gaming Laptop under $1000 guide.

The #1 pick of the guide if you want a quick answer was the HP Pavilion 15 Gaming Notebook.

The reason the Pavilion took the number 1 spot was because it's the best all-rounder. It's got the Intel i7-6700HQ CPU which is the best even in the up to $1500 price range, the Nvidia GTX960M which is very respectable and can play recent games on high, if not ultra settings, 16GB of RAM, 15.6" Full HD IPS display and more importantly a 128GB SSD as well as a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive.

This is definitely the best laptop with impressive specs that also has an SSD and a good screen.

Now if screen size is a huge factor for you and you'd prefer 17.3" instead of 15.6" you're going to have to sacrifice a little bit given the price range.

For the 17.3" range i'd suggest the Asus ROG GL752VW-DH71. It has the same CPU/GPU/RAM as the Pavilion 15 with the notable omission of the SSD drive.

Ultimately the decision of SSD v bigger screen size is a choice for you to make. Although keep in mind that the DH71 does have an upgrade panel, so you can add an SSD down the track if you want faster boot speeds/game loading screen etc. where as you can't make the screen size bigger.

If you're looking for something powerful and extremely well built, I would suggest the ASUS ROG GL752 for $900. ASUS ROG's are famously known for their very durable build quality. It's specs are a bit more powerful than the ASUS you linked with a i7-6700HQ processor, 16gb of ram and a 1TB HDD. It also has a GTX 960M graphics card which is about 80% more powerful than a 950M.

The best option available under $1000 is the ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71 Laptop which will do an excellent job for you in those composing, editing, and recording tasks. I imagine it would run the game at low settings but not very well. You would be able to run ESO on High settings above 30 FPS. I have a 3 year old Asus ROG laptop and play on High settings with shadows on medium and water reflections turned down and run 30-60 fps depending on the area. You just aren't going to get a good experience with an integrated graphics card, so for the price you would be paying why not get a gaming laptop with better specs?

For this budget I would suggest this Dell Inspiron i7559 because it comes with Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz Processor(one of the best CPU in the market); NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5(one of the best GPU in the market for this price range and should be enough for your gaming), it does come with less Ram than the Asus you linked to, but for the price difference you can get an extra 8 GB ram and get a SSD as well.

If you can go over budget by a 100 or so I would suggest this MSI-GE62 because it already comes with SSD plus it comes with 970M which means better gaming performance.

Could you go a little over $950 ? You could get this ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH7. It has a very powerful processor, great memory a nice dedicated graphics card and a nice storage. Also, it has a great build quality with a very solid keyboard and touchpad. It also has a decent battery life and nice display.

you can also take a look at the asus rog laptops they are really good and right up there with the MSI's. Check out the ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71, its the same price as the msi and specs as well the reason why it is that price is that your paying for the inchs, the msi and the asus rog linked above are both 17inchs you could get a 15inch for the asus for $30 less

Then if you can swing a little extra cash, the Asus ROG G751JT would get you more GPU performance. It'll lose a little with CPU, but not a ton.

Otherwise the G752VW or Acer Aspire V17 Nitro would be the way to go.

Gaming being 'good for doing work on' simply means that gaming laptops are generally just very powerful computers that run fast and can handle any program you throw at it. Makes for a pleasant and smooth/productive work experience.

17 INCHES is the biggest you will get for $1000.. With your budget and what you will be doing with this laptop, this ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71 17.3-inch Gaming Laptop would be a great pick. Very powerful and of course, it has a wonderful build quality.

It is but two things:

1. It's a laptop so it will get hot. Make sure you have adequate air flow. Have it on a flat surface elevated so air can circulate on the bottom. Get a keyboard and mouse because trackpads nad laptop keyboards are a pain

This only has an R5, but that again, shouldn't be an issue since the game is CPU intensive.

Though, here's the big issue with gaming laptops, most if almost not all of them make it impossible to replace or upgrade parts, and if you're going for a certain level of GPU, CPU or RAM, the other two parts of the puzzle are going to be at that level.

So say, if you want a quad-core with double the GHz then you're also getting double the RAM and double the power of the GPU. And in conclusion, double or triple the cost. Example:
