Check out the Asus VE247H Its not an IPS panel but on a tight budget it should be great. 60Hz, 2ms response time, has DVI and HDMI in

u/DrLoveblast · 4 pointsr/buildapc

do you think I could maybe buy this monitor:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/VE247H-Widescreen-Response-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=6K43ZO6PNCJ4&coliid=IRBQ4ZAVK4VMV

then plug my xbox in via the hdmi slot, and plug in my computer via the dvi slot (which would then plug into my graphics card?)

I could then buy a usb freeview aerial to get freeview on my desktop, and then finally run all the sound to some external speakers. Does that sound okay?

I guess it's down to personal preference, the game itself doesn't change based on what vendor you buy it from. However, things like updates and support do vary. I prefer steam, because it's pretty much the default, everyone is on it. I'm not really an expert on monitors, but when looking them then, you pretty much want to stay under the 5ms response time for gaming. This if you have money lying around, this if you don't. The asus one has 2ms response time, LG one has 5ms.

You don't need 16GB of RAM, go for 8. The rest is fine.

This, this and this are good for monitors in that budget.

u/AfricanRain · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Think this one look the best from what I've seen. Anyone got any experience with it or know of anything better?

u/PCGA · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you don't have your heart set on that monitor you should go for a cheaper one like this. That'll leave you with more money to spend on some better parts. I'm building a gaming pc atm with a similar budget I think. If you want the parts list i've decided on shoot me a pm.

Here's a link to the monitor that I'm using, it has a headphone jack but it sounds like shit and there's static. I appreciate the help.

u/mutsuto · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I ask because I found this ASUS VE247H which is half the price. To me, a swivelling mount isn't worth 100 quid.

However, if I could get the VG245H for an american price 180 dollars -> 140 quid. That would be worth it.

I'm going to go make a point on that sub now, and see what others may say.

If you want as small as possible without taking up much desk space you'll either be looking at all-in-ones or mini pcs that can attach to the vesa mount on the back of a monitor. Mini pcs often come barebones meaning they do not have ram or a harddrive.

Here is an i3 nuc that has wireless, Bluetooth, etc i3 nuc

That costs about £250. A ddr4 8gb sodimm stick of ram and 250gb m.2 ssd can be had for less than £150. ram and drive

You should be able to get monitors with a vesa mount on the back fairly cheap, around £100 (like this one ) and a wireless keyboard and mouse for less than £40 (like these )

All told that would be £540 or so for hardware, give or take a little bit. It would get you machines that would do well at office tasks without taking up any desk space. With the wireless keyboards and mice the only required wires would be for power, Ethernet, and a short cable to connect to the monitor.

I would caution that you may be limited moving the license for Windows license. You may need to buy another copy of Windows for each machine but it looks like an oem disk of 10 pro is only £45 on Amazon uk.

Best bang for buck (obviously depends on any discrepancy between UK/AU prices) is this - great price, response time, size and contrast ratio. If you want something with a higher resolution that 1080x1920 than you'll have to spend a considerably more money, otherwise go with the one I linked previously. =]

u/JimmFair · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm on about a £200 budget for a monitor would this be any better?

u/xXZechXx · 1 pointr/buildapc

Im not too familiar with that brand, Asus has never let me down in the past so i'd take the time to look into this atleast http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1382896452&sr=1-1&keywords=120hz+monitor Also if you are willing to take the time and your rig could make use of it. Really invest in a 120hz monitor. You wont regret it.

I've been using a 24 inch ASUS Monitor for over 2 years now and I love it. Not too expensive, the picture quality is fantastic and it's the perfect size for me, as I sit at a desk under a meter from the screen.

Pretty much any Asus monitor is great but if you're interested, this is the model that I use.

24" Monitor is definitely the way to go if you're looking to take things more seriously and improve

There are a load that brand themselves as 'Gaming' and have a low response time, but in all honesty when it comes down to it there is no way your reaction time is going to be good enough to make the tiniest difference matter.

I use this (and it's awesome and cheap): http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1419868123&sr=1-7&keywords=gaming+monitor

For something a bit more expensive you could look into this (it's what the pros use): http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-XL2420Z-24-inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00HZF2MPE/ref=sr_1_15?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1419868178&sr=1-15&keywords=gaming+monitor

u/Ridan21 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I may just go ahead and buy this https://chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-everest-2-gaming-pc.html?category_id=412 unless you know any better prebuilt pc's available for that kind of price?

Also is this monitor good? https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/

u/BearsEatGrub · 1 pointr/suggestapc

Desktop £1099

Monitor £115

Keyboard £25

Mouse £30

Custom configurations are too complicated, the Chillblast PC is excellent.

u/OmegaRipper501 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

99% sure it's this

u/bogdoomy · 1 pointr/buildapc

Tell me i'm crazy, but isn't this better for 120 quid?

u/Radical_Alpaca · 1 pointr/buildapc

What monitor should I buy? At the moment I am stuck with an old tv at 1366x768 and I'm looking for an upgrade to a 1920x1080 monitor at least. I have a budget of give or take around £120 ($200).

I've had my eye on This Asus VE247H and I'm curious to find out if it's a good deal.

If there's a better one out there that fits my budget could you please let me know.

Thanks.

u/fred1674 · 1 pointr/blackops3

almost the same one i've had for 5 years - same brand, but mine is 24 inch. Pro gamers tend to use 24, and I don't think it costs too much more. Mine is still going strong and absolutely perfect for the price - 0 dead pixels, no problems and I move it around a lot. I have no idea what the £350 monitors offer that this doesn't but I doubt it's even close to worth the difference

A friend who also needed a monitor on a budget recently asked me and I order up a ASUS VE247H from Amazon. Cheap and he's very happy with it.
It's not fancy 144hz, but it does the job on a shoestring budget. The 23.6-inch is only £109. Can get it on prime if you know someone who can order it for you.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004T2LMP2 What do you guys think of this, good deal? looking for something on amazon preferably in this price range. Or this maybe? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OPLG0O

u/Distickstoffoxid · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks! Will go with the Asus VE247H I guess, since my current Samsung SyncMaster2433 doesnt work right!

u/095179005 · 1 pointr/buildapc

No DVI. I didn't know what kind of connections you wanted.

HDMI/DisplayPort will carry audio data, so you can use the monitor's build-in speakers in you don't have any seperate speakers.

Updated list

Do any of these 3 monitors look good to you?

Depends entire only what size of monitor you're wanting. I mean, we don't get much choice for under £100 here in the UK without it being a bag of shit though.

Edit : http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-VE247H-Widescreen-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407708204&sr=8-1&keywords=Asus+VH247H

I would genuinely vouch for the like new warehouse deal. I got a TV a few years ago for £300 cheaper than it should've been because there was a bubble in the plastic casing. Took me the best part of a month to find it and it didn't affect the screen at all! Ended up being right in the bottom left corner.

u/ItzVegaZ · 1 pointr/buildapc

ASUS VE247H is a good choice.
