If you want portability like that for that cheap, I'd say to go for this Asus Vivobook Q301LA.
It's inexpensive, lightweight, and gets decent battery life.
Alternatively, the Asus Flip TP300LA is a really good option, although a little over your budget. I would think that the 13.3" 1920x1080 IPS touch display and additional RAM would make it a worthy substitution if you're able to swing the extra $99.
Furthermore, if 14" would be preferable and $549 is doable, the Lenovo Z40 with a 1920x1080 display and Nvidia GT 820M dedicated graphics would be a good option. You can find that, and other options listed here
I highly suggest this. Though it's refurb'd, it has a Core i5 and 6GB of RAM which is plenty performance for you.
Well I'm in the US, but what do you like playing? I am just sort of getting into the low-end gaming thing - I'm not super low end, more of medium end I guess. I'm on an ASUS VivoBook with a 24" Acer monitor and a keyboard and mouse added.
If you're looking for a small, light laptop, the one you linked is actually pretty heavy. If you don't need to use the laptop for games or anything of that sort, you should be fine with a less expensive one with an intel cpu and intel integrated graphics. Although this laptop is alright, for your purposes, these might work better

I definitely think I could do $549 for something like that. I found it for $50 less here.
Is the Q301LA comparable? I like that it's smaller and saving $100 is a plus.
For $400-600?! Yikes, that's a tight budget for those needs!
Try one of these. The ASUS TransformerBook Flip, the Lenovo G50, the Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310, the ASUS X551CA or the ASUS D550CA should get the job done. These will cost under $400, and you can purchase a stick of laptop RAM to upgrade to 8 GB of RAM--this will allow you to run music and photo editing programs more efficiently.
Here's another option for $400: the ASUS Vivobook Q301LA. It comes with a fairly powerful and efficient i5-4200U processor and 6 GB of RAM. It'll be fast enough for pretty much anything you've described here. The catch is that it's a refurbished model, and the warranty is therefore only 3 months--and if it breaks after that, it's on you to fix it. So the risk is greater with this machine, but so is the reward (paying only $400 for a pretty powerful laptop).
