I just bought the ASUS RT-AC68W for $110. Seemed like the best deal without getting into AC2400 or AC3200 routers.

Despite not-so-great reviews on Newegg, Amazon reviews appear to be more favorable.
Dave, I upgraded to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K3EPYP4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 router. Still having issues. Tried setting up QoS but it just seemed to make it worse. Have you worked with Asus settings before and could give me some tips or help walk through it?
from the belkin wesite
>*900 Mbps is derived from the total WLAN 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and WAN. Test measured average throughput within a home network when connected devices are placed at 15 feet from router. The stated transmission rate is the physical data rate. Actual data throughput will be lower. Actual speed and distance will vary depending on interference, network traffic, building materials, and other environmental factors. Visit Belkin.com/router-speed or click here for more information.
If you have devices that can be wired(ethernet), wire them. Save your Wifi for laptops and phones.
I honestly think a better router might be in order.

Is this the same router
I have 2 of these and they are flawless: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Wi-Fi-Router-Rates-RT-AC68W/dp/B00K3EPYP4/ref=pd_lpo_147_tr_t_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=XY9T8TJT4H9M02RCSZ21
I would recommend something more if you didn't live in an apartment - at larger houses, these have amazing range, so this is almost overkill anyways, but it is powerful and rock solid. I love ASUS products and use them for all networking and computer hardware I can (motherboards etc.). I work in IT now and ASUS routers are all I recommend to anyone. Regardless - the ASUS AC68U and aC68W are the same - the U is black and the W is white. You get what you pay for in networking equipment, and this is the best price/performance I've seen.
