Had the same sort of issue with my Silverado.

I bought one of these and I sort of forget I even have a cover on there because it's so thin and fits tight. It's not 100% perfect, but it's a million times better than those shitty steering wheel covers you can get at AutoZone and the like.

11 bucks might ease your mind enough to save $200 (300?) vs replacing it entirely. The real deciding factor on whether or not it comes out well is how patient you are when threading it (it's pre-punched so you just go through the loops and tighten it up) and how well you do when you skip the spots where the spokes connect to the wheel.

Also, I'm not sure what material your steering wheel is covered with, so the feel might be a little different. My Chevy had a little more of a plastic feel to the factory wheel so this actually ended up being a bit of an upgrade for me.
