Reddit mentions of Benny Muscles In (Prologue Books)

It might sound strange to want to be in the world of a crime novel like this one, but there's something about the world of noir fiction from the '40s and '50s.

It's a time that seems so tidy on the surface: milkmen delivering the milk, polite kids with their shirts tucked in, women in hats and gloves and heels. And it seems glamorous, too: the golden age of Hollywood, the dresses and lipstick, the cool cars, the jazz, the nightclubs.

But then there's this seamy underbelly. Gangsters and molls. Dirty deals. Secrets. Crooked cops. Jimmy Hoffa. The Back Dahlia murder.

I'm fascinated by this era and by its fiction. I don't know how close I'd really like to look at some of its dark side, but if I lived in it, I'd look as closely as safety would allow, while sipping a Mai Tai in a gold metallic sheath dress.
