get the Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones on amazon $192 right now. You DO NOT want to use closed back headphones for mixing. It's hard to believe they keep getting recommended.

So far the Bose Sound True II for apple seems pretty good. Too bad the deal wasn't for the android variant of it :( https://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundTrue-around-ear-headphones-II/dp/B0117RFX38/

Don't think Im taking a chance on those bose earbuds. All the reviews rip it's Build Quality apart. I mean IEM's are mostly plastic but how do you make it that bad lol.

Sennheiser 598's SE are back on sale for 110$ 10$more than the lowest. Pretty good if you want open back. https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-598-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B0126HISOO/

Pink Cloud II's for 75$ is pretty good. One of the best gaming headsets for your money. https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-PS4/dp/B00Y09G6H8/

Beyer Custom Street?!?! what are these? Bassier versions of the custom ones? Now even sure if it's a deal at 99$ https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-Custom-Street-Headphones-Black/dp/B00UK7ZQXO/

Other than the usual cheap ass wood earbuds and shitty gamer headphones this sale seems kinda sad :(

So far pretty good for entry level stuff but that's the "amazon" usual so it seems with every big sale.

edit: So in 2 hours this is supposed to drop in price, anyone hear anything good about these? I might bite to try them out as I'm currently using shit for iems. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OQG7IC2/

I've also got a pair of the M50's. They sound great for their price range. These Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro's are supposed to be fantastic.

u/greyleafstudio · 3 pointsr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

In that range I would recommend the Beyerdynamic DT880s - notably for their great soundstage, open design and flat response. Others seem to prefer the DT770 but I understand they add a bit more 'colour' to the sound. I've used the 880s for about 3 years now and they are simply put the nicest damn headphones I have ever used.

Peace, and happy new year

If you are looking into headphones that could play almost every genre well and offers more detail retrieval, try the DT-880. The HD 598 won't deliver in the rock and EDM department. Just note that for both headphones, you won't be getting punchy bass, and that the DT-880 may sound a bit too bright.

The Xonar DG or FiiO E10 should be able to power the 250ohms just fine, though an amp with the Xonar DG WILL help.

HE-400 is open, harder to drive (don't expect to drive it out of your phone), less comfortable, better sound, tighter low end.

I'd take the DT880s if I were you, they're half open and half closed, have a tight, but not overbearing low end, VERY comfortable, they're also a god damn steal at the price right now ($190) http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-DT-880-Pro-Headphones-250/dp/B001B1QENY

Never forget to think about comfort when buying headphones, if you don't enjoy wearing them, they're just about useless.

u/CannibalBanana · 2 pointsr/headphones

Personally I really want to throw out a recommendation for the Beyerdynamics DT 880S. They are on sale on Amazon for (I think) $175 right now and regularly sell for more than $300. Beyerdynamics is an incredibly well reputed company.

Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001B1QENY/ref=aw_d_var_2nd_electronics_img?vs=1

In my opinion, their slightly darker tone and excellent bass response (not too strong, mind) would be very good for your music preferences.

It's an incredible deal and one that I highly recommend jumping on.

Edit: if you're looking for other sites to check for headphones, you can get many used cans for relatively cheap at www.head-fi.org

I have purchased several items through the community there and all have been I'm excellent condition. I have no complaints. The site is also an excellent source for research.

u/firitheryn · 2 pointsr/headphones

Yeah I think the dt880 pros as well as a Fiio E10

u/t0pgearl4mbo · 2 pointsr/headphones

Your joke made me LOL. I'm just in the early stages of choosing a new set of headphones now. I've bookmarked several in the $200-$300 range from the guide on this subreddit.

I see these headphones come in a number of OHM ratings. Which one would be best when paired with a receiver?

Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro 250 Ohm - $156

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B1QENY/

u/SwimmingAshes · 2 pointsr/headphones

The beyerdynamic DT-880, they're quite neutral sounding but have a slight bass and treble emphasis. They're also extremely comfortable and well built.

https://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-DT-880-Pro-Headphones-250/dp/B001B1QENY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1469325405&sr=1-1&keywords=dt880

They're 250ohm but are quite sensitive so you should be able to run them off your motherboard OK.

BTW, the difference between the "Pro" and "Premium" version is that the "Pro" version clamps a bit tighter and is slightly more ruggedly built, but uglier looking.

u/casanebula · 1 pointr/edmproduction

The same pair is on Amazon for $186. http://amzn.com/B001B1QENY

u/ramsr · 1 pointr/headphones

Those are great headphones. Understand that those are open ear headphones, so there will be ton of noise leakage. Also, note the Q701s are slightly uncomfortable, but it's not so bad that you wouldn't want to buy them.

My recommendations:

Open ear: Beyerdynamic DT880. In my opinion these are slighly better than the Q701s

Closed ear: PSB M4U 1 These are probably the best sounding closed headphones you can get in its price range. Very neutral headphones and a great sound stange.

All three headphones (Q701, DT880, and M4U 1) can be powered by Fiio E10. So, no worries there.

u/Camper1995 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Yeah, take a look at these for example:

Sennheiser

Beyerdynamic

M40x with mic, recommended

MSR7, great fucking sound for this price

Hey guys, before I start I just want to thank you for taking the time.

Budget: $200 (whatever cheaper than this for same quality does the trick

Source: Desktop, laptop, phone, ipod

Isolation: None required. Comfort is more important

Type: Anything but IEMs and buds. I have cheap ones.

Tonal Balance: I honestly don't know what I want here as I'm new to this concept. But some booms and bass without losing mid and highs would be nice

Past Experience: Skullcandy {Skullcrushers, Hesh, Lowriders, Smoking Buds, Jackets, cheap buds} Bose { 1 closed over ear active noise isolation} Steelseries {Siberia V3 and some neckband model I can't remember} and I borrowed some gaming headsets.

Music: I listen to everything but I'm going to be mostly focused on EDM, DnB, Trance, Indie/Altern, R&B, Jazz and Hip Hop. So something like the bass on this
I'm going to be listening to stuff like this:

Roosevelt

Arctic Monkeys

Cruz

Miike Snow

Diplo

Subformat

Improvements: The comfort of the Siberia V3 but hopefully with a less mediocre sound and something better than my Skullcandy experiences. Though I must say my cheap $20 dollar Skullcandy IEMs sound better than the V3.

Location: Northern Virginia, US.

I've read the guides (that are 4 month old) and I came with these options:

Sennheiser HD 558

Audio-Technica ATH-M50

Sennheiser HD 598
I'm more inclined to this because of looks

AKG Q 701

Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones (250 Ohm)

Grado Prestige Series SR225e

If anybody has any recommendations on which one I should pick out of this or even recommend something else that'd be nice, since the guides are 4 month old and lots of things come out in 4 months. I also noticed nobody mentioned Shure.
In a future I'd love to learn more about DACs and buy stuff to build my setup.

u/pureGOWDER · 1 pointr/headphones

Not sure if this is the right sticky, but as I'm not technically asking for a pair of headphones I'll post here.

So, I'm going to be picking up a pair of Beyerdynamic DT880 PRO(250 OHM) and have seen around about buying an AMP and/or DAC with them to get their full potential (this is my first big headphone purchase).

My question is, why does one need a DAC/AMP? And what would suffice for the headphones that I am getting?

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also, how would I set the DAC and AMP up? Sorry for the noob questions - as stated, this is my first big headphone purchase and am completely new to this all. If anyone can suggest better headphones for under £200, please let me know!

u/MiscRedditor · 1 pointr/headphones

>What are you expecting to gain from higher impedance cans?

Well, it's mostly due to there being more high impedance headphones to choose from in the range/type that I'm looking for. For example the DT 880 250 Ohm and the AKG K 701.

A bit off topic, are there any you'd recommend?

>The only real problem with a Magni is the gain is a bit high for 2V sources. But if you don't mind living at the low end of the volume control, it's no big deal.

That shouldn't be too much of an issue, hopefully I'd learn to not turn the knob too quickly =P. Would that affect sound quality at all? Are there other desktop headphone amps that you'd suggest or other solutions to consider?

Thanks!

u/Mshenay · 1 pointr/headphones

I've got great news for you! I found a setup for 257 Euros that I think you'll love! Beyerdynamic DT 880@ with Dac! and Hybrid Tube amp@

This was my first real set up, and I loved it! The DT 880 sounds phenomenal with Classic Rock, Indie rock, Acoustic and classical, the Hybrid Tube amp has more than enough power for it and will REALLY flesh out the sound of the headphone, the UCA 202 is a dac I still use to this day [with my laptop and at work] all in all, I think you'd be VERY happy with a set up like this!

Additionally, here's some feed back about that little amp you can read through the thread if your curious about how amazing the DT 880 Pro is :3

  • Budget: £200 at most.
  • Sources: PC and my HTC One.
  • Requirements for isolation: None.
*Preferred Type of Headphones: Over ear, I hate on ears and I do not like IEMs very much.
  • Preferred Tonal Balance: Neutral, mayble slighlt warm, I'm unsure about this.
  • Past Headphones: Sony MDR-V55s These are very uncomfortable for over 30 minutes, but they sounded OK. I have some Soundmagic E10s for portable use.
  • Preferred Music: I listen to entirely rock/metal usually prog metal.
  • What I'm Currently Considering:

Sennheiser HD598 This looks quite good and is meant to be quite neutral. These are in the middle of my price range.

Beyerdynamic DT880 PRO These are meant to be very comfortable - I quite like the look of these

Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO These are similar to the DT 880s (not in sound apparently), but they are apparently more comfortable than the 880s. THey are also much cheaper than the 880s

AKG K702 The design of these is appealing and that they meant to be detailed in sound.

AKG Q701 These supposedly sound better than the K702s in that they have more bass These are the very most that I am willing to spend.
An yother suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic dt 880 pro headphones and use the Samson Go Mic and it's a great, high quality and very portable setup.

u/equipboardsubmission · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Why don't you take a look at Beyerdynamic DT-880 ? Semi-Open Studio Headphones. You won't hear much bleeding coming out of them. I own a pair of Sennheiser HD 650 (Open back), and they're nearly as flat as you can get for that price.

u/teddyzaper · 1 pointr/headphones

is the modmic still the way to go? Are there any other microphone alternatives?

Also, Looking at headphones in the $150-200 price range. Out of these what would you pick? Also any that i've missed?

DT-990 PRO -$160

DT-880 PRO -$190

ATH-AD900X -$150

SR225e -200

Philips X2 -$225

I currently own the Takstar Pro80 and the one thing i really don't like is that they don't fit my ears well. I fear that the grado may have the same issue as they look a bit smaller than the others.

My daily driver is the Astro A40, and they started having a tinny sound in the left ear so i'm ready to upgrade!

u/Flaano · 1 pointr/headphones

Do amps make a huge difference in sound quality? For example I was looking at Beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro Headphones 250OHM.

Budget - 300$

Source - Iphone 7/ laptop

Requirements for Isolation - Do you need a lot ? Yes

Where you mainly will use your headphones: At home, public transportation

I don't really care about the price since the cost of the [m50s](Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Studio Monitor Professional Headphones - White https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HVLURL8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Pk8FybAMT4J3D)/[DT880 ](Beyerdynamic DT880 PRO Headset - 250 OHM https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001B1QENY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dr8FybEZDDHX2) + the cables needed to plug it into the iphone will cost roughly as much as the [solo 3](Beats by Dr. Dre Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01LW0M4J1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6l8FybQ736BPF) .
