A couple caveats:

  • As indicated by my super-cool flair, "My kid is 4" so she was born in 2010. I'll give info as to what we did. YMMV with regard to brand/model due to passage of time.

  • My kid is very thin, and very tall. She just turned four last month, and she's deep in to 5T sizes.

That said, we used the Chicco Keyfit 30 as the infant seat. We used the BOB Revolution stroller. Note that in order to make the seat attach, you need the snack tray accessory. You remove the snack tray piece and leave the support bar, which allows your infant seat to slide right in to place.

Time wise, my Amazon order history indicates we got about nine months out of the infant seat. From there we went to Recaro convertible seats. Once we were done with the infant seat, I installed the snack tray/cup holder deal to the BOB and we used it for another year.

My kid is a walker, which is to say, we brought the stroller with us everywhere at first, until we realized we never used it. We lived about a 1/4 mile walk to her care center, and for the most part, she walked the whole way to/from even from a young age, not wanting to be in the stroller. I finally sold the thing just before she turned three because it was taking up wall space in my garage. Again, YMMV.

Seen several using this Bob offroad jogging stroller. Many parents get it and let it sit in the garage till it's outgrown. Probably under $50 on Craigslist (even if listed for 200. Parents want their garage space for bikes). https://www.amazon.com/BOB-Revolution-SE-Single-Stroller/dp/B004DC9TAI

We have this. It is quite possibly the best investment for baby things we made. Being a bigger guy, it is the perfect size for me to push, and the big wheels roll over just about anything. It was the only thing we needed during a 4 day trip to disneyland, and people kept mistaking it for a Bob, which is more than twice as expensive. Super awesome.
