I'm going to assume you're talking about the HE400S. I'm currently running a pair with the Schiit stack and I think it's a good improvement over just running it straight. By far the biggest improvements came from replacing the stock pads and the grill mod. Pop the plastic rings off of the outside of the cups, and take off the thin sheet of cloth. Then pick up these. Those pads are really a game changer, and I think you'll get a bigger improvement from those two things for 30 bucks.

u/covertash · 5 pointsr/headphones

They look exactly like the Brainwavz pads, judging from the pics in the link above. Really helps put into perspective just how much profit they are making now, selling them for $21 on Amazon:

I just got from amazon. Fit the m40x perfectly and make them so much more comfortable. But not everyone agrees with the sound. Some people think changing pads ruin the m40x. IMO there's a slight decrease in bass. But I think the comfort and increase of soundstage is worth it.

u/Fozzy420 · 4 pointsr/battlestations

Other specs:
-PC itself is a pre-built(Don't kill me. I got a great deal) MSI Aegis 3
-2x Asus monitors Asus MG248Q and Asus VX238H
-240GB SSD
-Headset is a Logitech G430 that I've swapped the earpads with these
-Razer Deathadder Elite
-Keyboard is MSI Interceptor 4200 (came with the PC, planning on upgrading)

u/mrdavesampson · 3 pointsr/headphones

Same setup here. Just replaced my pads with the brainwavz angled HM5 pads after some head-fi research and the bass is so much better now. Would highly recommend the pad upgrade for any other HE-400i owners.

u/coldpipe · 3 pointsr/headphones

Yeah, 7XX is not for smaller heads. It's only slightly loose in my head though.

I think you can use fatter pads like Angled HM5 or leather pads (to help grip) like Dekoni. The sounds probably will change though.

u/honeycakes · 3 pointsr/ZReviews

The stock pads aren't terrible for about an hour. After that you will start to feel the pressure of them. I switched them out and it really helped comfort. I got the Brainwavz angled memory foam pads for $30 on amazon.

I wear my m40x for gaming, music, etc. I love em.

u/firitheryn · 3 pointsr/headphones

To my ear the M40X is the superior set as well. Might I also recommend these supremely comfortable earpads.

u/XylefMTG · 3 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

Be cautious about pad change recommendations also. Being a newb, I watched a couple "gotta change the pads" video and not only did I change them, but threw out the stock pads (I didn't know lol ). I haven't liked the sound since the pad change and I've since ordered stock pads to get the original sound back. Enjoy and have a great day!

Edit: A nice individual DM'd me to ask me if I had removed the foam insert when I changed the pads. I did not. He suggested that I try the replacement Brainwavz pads without the foam insert. BIG difference. I'll still keep the stock pads because I never should have tossed them, but finally I'm enjoying the sound and comfort of the pad replacement w/the m40x's I'd hoped for. Here are the pads in care you're interested:

Hey, I have a similar ear shape, maybe a bit less prominent, but I have had similar problems with headphones. If you don't want to get a new pair of headphones right away, you could put some new pads on those Cloud IIs. I have HM5 memory foam pads on mine which are much thicker than the stock pads.

They look like this:

Picture 1

Picture 2

Sorry about the poor lighting, but I hope it gives you a sense of the added depth.

These are the ones I use, but there are other variants; angled, flat, velour, hybrid(velour and pleather), etc.

u/aild4ever · 2 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

ATH M40X are worth every penny, i've used mine for a 9 months now, the only issue is the comfort , Brainwaves Angled Ear pads, get this for added comfort and soundstage, that's the only flaw i've found with M40X.

u/straightouttaireland · 2 pointsr/headphones

These earpads really complete these headphones!

u/JadeMainframe · 2 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

I would second this. You can get the Audio Technica m40 off /r/AVexchange/ for around $50 - 55 shipped and then get a pair of Brainwavz Angled Earpads $27 from amazon that's ~$77

u/arsa37 · 2 pointsr/headphones

i would go for the RHA MA750i or ATH M40x ( you can get them refuribished ) and buy some pads like these

u/kazF · 2 pointsr/headphones

like this?

or would u recommend something else?

u/thefrencharmy · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

m40x with the HM5 angled pads is quite decent.

Modmic 4.0 is not as good as the boompro mic, and is still pricey at ~$50.
If you are using the modmic 5.0, it'll work pretty well, but it's pricey at $70.

Instead, look into this mic that plugs directly into the m40x, without any mods, for $20. This mic's quality is slightly worse than boompros, but fits directly.

To use the boompro mic with the m40x, you can remove the locking mechanism and then buy a 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter and voila, you can plug the boompro into them.

Zeos over at /r/zeos highly recommends the m40x, so take that for what it's worth

u/Fernando_Matt · 2 pointsr/headphones

No, they don't leak. Change the stock pads now if you don't, the benefits are 100% worth for the price.

Look at these now. It's a very good deal.

u/vkgfx · 2 pointsr/headphones

If you want to buy a headset that is audiophile-on-a-budget approved, get this set of headphones for $16 and use this $30 mic. Bam, there's a $46 headset that sounds really good. If you want to get fancy and make it incredibly comfortable, toss these guys on for another $27-ish.

The KSC75 is also amazingly good for its price, and just in general.

u/Ronronk · 2 pointsr/headphones

I would suggest getting some bigger pads for the m40's such as something like this (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZY8PGJI?th=1) or another pad.

u/ThaPchild · 2 pointsr/LogitechG

I got them off Amazon. Search "HM5 Pads" there are a million colors and angle or non angle.

I love these With my M40x. So amazing

u/Anyosae · 1 pointr/headphones

I heard that changing the pads to these solves the issue of lack of bass and makes them even more comfortable but before you get them, check if the ring on the stock pads that clip into the headphones is removable and not glued on. If it's glued on then you'll have to get a pair of stock leather pads that have the removeable ring and put it on the brainwavz HM5 although I don't know if you can justify spending about 40 bucks on pads alone.

u/corgan_burger · 1 pointr/headphones

Im sure there is a better way to do this but Im a noob and impatient. If I remember correctly, i just ripped off all the stock pad. Then I took the clip ring thing off and stretched the new pad around it. Then re attached the ring/pad. I had never done anything like it and it turned out nice. It was the angled pads, they are thicker on the back half and I imagine make for a snugger fit. There are some videos out there that show how to do all this.http://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Angled-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B00ZY8PGJI/ref=pd_sim_23_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=31JaOMNVwPL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1V3CFMB8CFQ9AQQKNK9Y

I use these: Brainwavz Coussinets angulaires pour Casques en mousse à mémoire de forme pour casque audio - (Noir) https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00ZY8PGJI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oDTVCb6RX5D6K

Soft and comfortable for hours:)
Cheers

u/dggg · 1 pointr/headphones

Ok I checked the video. Doesn't seem too hard. What about these pads?

u/5thvoice · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

So again, M40x's are a great choice, especially with HM5 angled pads. For some reason, they're cheaper and sound better than the M50x. Use those particular pads - they'll give you better soundstage and comfort. If your source has a strong amp, you could also try the Beyerdynamic DT770's.

u/dephcon05 · 1 pointr/headphones

I'd say maybe give the Brainwavz Angled pads a shot. I have the velour version on a different pair and they fit the mounting ring, you may have to stretch them out a little bit before fitting them on the rings, but it'll fit.

u/JumbledThought · 1 pointr/steelseries

I can't check right now but I bet the earcups come right off. Most headsets have a similar way to replace them. Getting the size right is the tough part.

[Here are some thick pads from Brainwavz] (https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Angled-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B00ZY8PGJI/). Seems like that company has accurate measurements on their product descriptions. Maybe they make something that'll fit the 800s for a decent price.

u/Cynaren · 1 pointr/india

You can find them on Amazon.

[Brainwavz Angled Memory Foam Earpad] (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00ZY8PGJI)

But remember if you like the current sound, don't change them. Changing to above mentioned will have impact on bass but will be more comfortable and have better better lows). Just don't put the velour pads.

u/ChillaximusTheGreat · 1 pointr/headphones

Oh I think this

u/trevinshu97 · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Ah I see I currently don't game at all and when I do it's simulation games with no sound but I will next year. Mostly this is for listening to music. I see are these the ones you are talking about?

u/Dontae92 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

These in PU leather or Sheepskin but sheepskin cost twice at much

u/RumbaChuck · 1 pointr/HyperX

Yes they are replaceable. Haven't tried these myself but seen multiple people recommend them. Also, pressing the power button cycles the different light configs if you have the updated firmware.

u/Hellsing007 · 1 pointr/sennheiser

I think they aren't thick enough and big enough. My ears hit the inside of the headphones as well as the edges of the earcups. I was thinking of getting these https://www.amazon.com/Brainwavz-Angled-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B00ZY8PGJI/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1. Some people say they use them with the M2s. They look thicker and slightly larger.

u/dreammyz · 1 pointr/HyperX

is this similar to the pleather of what hyperx alpha have ?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZY8PGJI?m=A2XYIDHW2C10EQ&ref_=v_sp_widget_detail_page

or you can show me which one you're using

u/jefe322871 · 1 pointr/headphones

My question was for the Master & Dynamic headphone, MH40, not the Audio Technica ATH-m40 or 50x. Master & Dynamic makes an Alcantera pad and was wondering if anyone had tried them. For your question I think people use the Brainwavz angled pads: https://www.amazon.com/BRAINWAVZ-Angled-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B00ZY8PGJI

u/asoon · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

You'll need some cups and not new pads to make it closed if you're referring to it being open-back headphones. Behind the drivers on the outside is a metal mesh that you see with the L and R painted on it in white, that's where the sound leaks out.

These are the cheaper replacement pads that /r/headphones recommends for them for a snugger fit (and possibly more bass?), but to actually close them some people are offering 3d printed cups to be glued to the outside like shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ET9TWgel7ec

u/SarcasticOptimist · 1 pointr/headphones

The company seems to acknowledge this by introducing a new model. Sadly, there's no hybrid version yet.

I had similar issues, and eventually had to toss out a K301Xtra because I could not find a replacement pad for it.

u/yepitsmehellya · 1 pointr/HyperX

I just ordered these here

u/XAznBeastX · 1 pointr/Gaming_Headsets

One more question, the cloud 2s already have a sound card correct? So all I really need to buy are Brainwavz angled leather pads?

u/SeafoodDuder · 1 pointr/buildapc

In that case, I would probably suggest something along the lines of the MEE Audio Air-Fi Matrix 2. It has bluetooth as well. If you want better earpads then the stock pads are replaceable. I'd look into these or other Brainwavz.

u/Suspectsss · 0 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

If you want a closed back headphone, I recommend the Audio Technica ATHM40X with modded pads and a new cable with a mic.
Mic/cable - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NAQWCGS/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?smid=AJ2PJNO98VCDO&psc=1

Pads - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ZY8PGJI/ref=ox_sc_act_image_2?smid=A2XYIDHW2C10EQ&psc=1

Pads are definitely needed for these because the stock bass are crappy and don’t allow for good soundstage. Remember when you swap pads that ye mesh layer in the pad needs the be put in the new pad, you’ll u sweat and when you see it. Or you can watch ZReviews video on the m40x. Hopefully you can find them on the UK amazon site.
