There are lots of electric shop heaters. They work well but running them 24/7 can get pricey in an uninsulated shop. If you just want to keep yourself warm and mostly work in one spot like a workbench, then the IR heaters work really well even in super cold shops.

Keep in mind that heaters draw serious amps and if you put one on the same circuit as power tools you will be tripping breakers constantly.

I have this heater in my shop and like it a lot. Even before I put insulation in it easily kept my 12x25 shop toasty through Washington state winters.

Also keep in mind that with electric heat there is no such thing as efficiency, or rather, for the purpose of keeping a space warm, all electric heaters are equally efficient although units can have higher or lower capacity, be more durable, have more accurate thermostats etc. Only exception are IR heaters which mostly just warm you and not the space around you.
