My left joystick peeled too, less than 2 months after purchase, though I put like 80+ hours into Gungeon on it in that time period. 8bitdo wouldn't replace as they said it looked like physical damage/wear and tear. So I bought some joystick grips, but will warn ya: they can impede usage of the sticks. I tried a few pairs before I found one that works.

Wound up with this one:

Many of the others I tried had much thicker rubber on the sides/bottom and they'd rub the controller, preventing the stick from moving freely. Note that these ones don't work on my MLG Pro 360 controller for that same reason, so if you happen to have one of those too, you'll need a different grip there.

That's my biggest gripe with the controller. I do have a love/hate relationship with the stick travel distance, especially the right stick. It's got probably the most stick travel of any controller I've ever used, and the right stick is a little too close to the center for a game like Gungeon that uses it to aim and face buttons for important features, thank God for remappable controls. The travel is massive compared to JoyCons and requires a little adjustment, but that just allows more overall precision
