Ok, I'm thinking corn mazes might be the way to go. Looking around some I find Pick a Pumpkin, Mrs. Millie by Judy Cox, and Chef Aiden and the Corn Maze by Tracy Andrews.

Chef Aiden has an unnecessary and arbitrary cookie-making scene and recipe tacked on to the end, but the main story gets the point of a Maze across pretty well, I think. In Pick a Pumpkin, the maze is just present on one page, incidental to the main thrust of rhyming words being used as a silly kind of code.
