I always dress smart-casual; a "nicer" outfit that is still appropriate everywhere casual is; with casual being jeans/chino shorts and a t-shirt or polo. Not the same as business casual; leave the chino slacks and cornflower blue shirt at home. I don't know how long until this date, but my perfect outfit would be these CDBs in red oak leather or gray leather, a brown leather belt, Levi 501s in union blue with this Lands End shirt, maybe this in khaki would also work as a shirt.
A little advice: don't wear anything you're not comfortable in, it'll show and you'll look like a tryhard. Fit is king. A long sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up looks better than a short sleeve shirt. Maybe browse the sidebar of /r/malefashionadvice a little bit, learn some more.
