I have this keyboard with the brown switches, and I already find myself annoyed when trying to use the arrow keys, so I can't see myself enjoying a keyboard with even less functionality. I also very frequently use the numberpad.

u/iPwnForYou · 7 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you want a mechanical keyboard that isnt super expensive but is still nice the Quick fire TK is nice, on some websites you have a choice between red, blue, brown, and green switches (the color switch determines the color of the back lighting, if you do choose to get back lighting. Brown is white LED's just fyi). I personally bought one with blue switches and I really like it, some people complain about the integrated num pad but I never use it anyways so I really dont mind.

You could try the CM Storm Quickfire TK. It fits all your requirements. I think.

few questions:

1: what keyboard size (full, tenkeyless, other)

2: if it is mechanical can we raise the budget by 5-10 $?'

3: if it is mechanical is there a switch you preffer?( ask r/mechanical keyboards if you want a switch recomended to you)

but from what i could find from a good keyboard is: http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369805652&sr=8-1&keywords=quickfire+tk
it is the same keyboard as you linked but with mx blue switches and blue backlight.

CM Storm QuickFire TK https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_zq.Hub13MV601

I love this keyboard because its soooo small.

Theres also a more expensive version called the Quickfire Rapid-i with White LEDs but its like 160 bucks.

u/dropbhombsnotbombs · 5 pointsr/battlestations

Looks like it's one of these.

u/silentdragoon · 4 pointsr/keyboards

Absolutely. I'll add a few here:

u/burgerbob22 · 4 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

You're right. That is cheap. But based on what others have said of Razer QC and their new switch QC, I would go with something like the Monoprice or even better, the CM for a bit more cash. You get what you pay for.

u/xzer · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

there is a buying guide on the side bar, but i will give you the [link] (http://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/buying_guide) also the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid TK is a good begginer back lit board and check out the KBT ONI

Edit: the SteelSeries 6GV2 is a mech and i listed this because SteelSeries most likely has some where with international shipping.

u/ToonsAndCereal · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Well, a lot of folks on r/mk (myself included) seem to be in agreement that Gateron switches are better than Cherry, and those are "knock-offs" so I dont think anyone will downvote you for not buying "branded" switches.

The few people who have posted about their red dragon boards seem to like them, and as far as backlight goes, that aesthetic is up to you.

What country are you trying to buy this keyboard in? If you search mechanical keyboards on amazon, you see a bunch of cheaper options that do have numpads. If you want a mechanical numpad, jellycomb makes one for $20 USD.

Here is a TOMOKO with numpad for $55 https://www.amazon.com/TOMOKO-Mechanical-Keyboard-Resistant-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01IHVN4GA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478280296&sr=8-2&keywords=mechanical+keyboard+tomoko

Rosewill is $60: https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches-RK-9000V2/dp/B00S5E4KH2

If you really want a solid keyboard with a numpad, the coolermaster TK retails in the US for $80 https://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478280161&sr=8-2&keywords=coolermaster+keyboard

The Ducky One is another great option if you can save up the $115

u/cruzerthebruzer · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

The CM Quickfire TK has backlighting and currently ranged from $74-$120 based on what switches you are getting.

http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

I haven't used one personally but I hear they're solid. Quickfire rapid is always the non-backlit choice of most people for value.

u/test0 · 3 pointsr/headphones

MX Blues for life! I have the Cooler Master Quickfire TK in blue switches and I love it. Lots of options though, but you'll probably be happy with any choice of mechanical keyboard you buy

u/LemonLimeAlltheTime · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

I bought the TK version of this for $90 a month ago. That is the one with the weird numpad/arrow key combo and the backlight. http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

Since they are close in price here is quick review of the OTHER one:

Pro: really nice switches and backlight looks amazing

Cons: the numpad/arrow key thing takes getting used to. I Don't use the backlight as much as I thought and usually turn it off if I'm watching something.

Maybe this helped someone deciding between the two.

u/TheWheeledOne · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I don't know that you can functionally get a whole lot smaller than this. The spacing of keycaps will make it impossible to get much smaller in the general spacing -- and beyond that the only thing really left to trim is bezel.

You do lose the navigation clusters in this setup, however -- and I value the nav clusters more myself (though understand why people value 10-key more as well).

u/CosmonautJizzRocket · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Well there isn't really such things as a "gaming keyboard" but i would at all costs avoid keyboards labeled as such(for the most part, there are some that are definitely nice boards though). Are there any specific things you need on it? For a decent cheap board i'd recommend this https://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C?th=1

EDIT: also check out /r/mechmarket for used boards as well.

u/There-is · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Also, OP. Look to see if there's a Microcenter near your area. If you live by one that's not too ridiculously far off (like maybe an hour or less from where you live) you can save like 20 bucks on the processor and 30 bucks on the motherboard (any motherboard as long as it's compatible with the CPU) from their deal if you buy them at their store together.

Also, about the keyboard, I wouldn't spend that much on the Strafe. it's good, but keyboards like that go on sale pretty often.

https://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

is a good keyboard at half the price, and the k70 was on sale at 90 a bit ago too. Also definitely go with a better PSU, Supernova G2 is like the best bang for your buck psu that you can get.

also, just preference for me, but I prefer to get 2x4 GB ram sticks just in the very slight chance one stick goes out on me, I can use at least one to run my computer and do tests and stuff.

If you still want a nice Razer mouse, but with less buttons, there's this DeathAdder. It has blue LEDs, two side buttons, and is extremely comfortable. I've had it for a few months, its extremely nice, very worth the money.

As for a keyboard, this is the one I'll be getting soon. CM Storm Quickfire TK. Its compact, mechanical, blue LED backlit, and has Cherry MX Blue switches, which are supposed to be like heaven.

u/kschang · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Sounds like you need a CM TK 96-key or its successor the Masterkey M.

u/derzemel · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

regarding keyboards in TKL size with numpad, the most widely available is the CM Storm Quickfire TK. But you will have issues finding replacement keycaps for the non-standard keycaps on the bottom row

A bit larger, but still smaller than full size are the Cherry G80-1800 keyboards.

Aaand that's it for TKL with numpad factory made keyboards.

There are some custom made keyboards with the format you are searching for. But these are over 250USD because they usually have a full aluminium case, custom lighting, custom PCB, custom firmware, custom switch plate, etc, and this without the keycaps. Also, most of the time the buyer will have to put the custom together (so some soldering and DIY skills are needed):

The Duck LightSaver V2
. Here is the Group Buy with more details

There is also a custom g80-1800 keyboard, the TX-1800. Here is the Group buy with more details

My suggestion would be for you to get a normal TKL keyboard together with a separate numpad. The advantages are that you can place the numpad anywhere on your desk when you do not need it. For example, a Leopold FC750R with a Leopold FC210TP numpad with a custom keyset on them.

P.S.: if you like the look of the Leopold FC750R, there are a few polls on massdrop regarding them. Here is the one with most votes

edit: English grammar is giving me a beating today

u/IamMatrix · 2 pointsr/buildapc

It is still over kill for the other games you mentioned. However If you have the money now I would keep the "overkill" build. It will last you much longer and perform better with next gen more demanding games. As for keyboards I would definitely go for a mechanical keyboard however would stray away from blue switches. Black, brown, and red switches are all MUCH quieter than the blue switches. Personally I would go with the red switches like this one with the red switches red back-lite option.

u/ginja_ninja · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Just off amazon. Here's the link.

u/iKirin · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I don't know what your budget is or where you live, but I've used a [CM Storm Quickfire TK] (http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1453843066&sr=8-10&keywords=CoolerMaster+Storm) for ~5 weeks and loved that to pieces. (MX-Brown switches 'though).

Can really recommend it. Went with a K70 RGB in an amazon flash sale myself, but if I hadn't went with that I'd have gotten that one. :)

u/FLFisherman · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Full-size keyboards are typically at least 17". The Cooler Master Quickfire TK has a numpad, is 14.9" long, and comes in brown switches, and has LEDs, if you're into that.

u/kurifatales · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

For CM this or this if you need a dedicated arrow cluster.

Ducky is a bit more expensive, I'd recommend a Ducky One. Go here for an easy listing of options.

Hope this helps!

So... I would recommend a laptop that you can dock and can do some virtualization.

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Dell-Latitude-E6420-Intel-Core-i7-2.7GHz-256GB-SSD-14-inch-HDMI-Laptop/9444363/product.html?refccid=47LBAHF2LWNL7K2O36TPNSKXOY&searchidx=6

You can upgrade the memory to 16Gb and then get a port relicator for multimonitor setup.

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Dell-IMSourcing-NEW-F-S-430-3114-Port-Replicator/9048000/product.html?refccid=5XI2HQKY4AW3H2KC6MHEQQND6I&searchidx=0
I recommend this one because it has 2 DVI ports, vga, hdmi, dsub, 5 usb (2 back, 3 side), and basically everything you need in a port replicator.

Those particular laptops come with a 256GB SSD (Samsung, Seagate, or some other vendor, just depends but I've found most use Samsung and Seagate).

You can get 16GB kit would should be plenty for most virtualization and the 2.7GHz has hyper threading as well.

Wireless is I think the Intel 7620-AC Dual band but there is an additonal slot for a secondary card. (I think there is actually 3 slots total but only enough wires for 2 cards).

Network is 10/100/1000

You're going to be hard to find a better laptop with all that for cheaper. Brand new these things run around 1200 - 1500 depending.

Now the only thing that really bugs me when buying those is it's going to be a grab bag on whether you get a 9w (extended battery) or not.

If you don't get a 9w battery then I'd recommend picking one up.

The monitors and everything else is up to you but that would be my recommendation for what you're looking for.

Edit: Forgot these are also super easy to take apart. 7 screws on the back and the panel comes off super easy.

Edit 2: Also, because those sell out, make sure if you go on overstock that the processor is the 2.7ghz i7 if you want to do virtualization.

Also here is the specs on the processor that come with it.

http://ark.intel.com/products/52231/Intel-Core-i7-2620M-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz

Edit 3: Sorry keep forgetting things. Those laptops come with some shitty chinese replacement chargers. They can cause issues with the touch pad while charging. However the port replicator (docking station) should come with a legit Dell charger that will work for the laptop as well since it's universal.

Edit 4: Decided to add my personal recommendations for monitors, monitor stand, mouse, and keyboard. You do your own research though.

Monitor x3: Dell E2414H - 1980, Vesa mount, DVI and VGA
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-E2414Hr-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00FE8MKTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473050&sr=8-2&keywords=dell+24+e2414h+monitor

Monitor Stand: 3 Arms I'd go with http://www.amazon.com/Ergotech-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473096&sr=8-1&keywords=ergotech+3+monitor

There are a lot of options with monitor stands but I like Ergotech so YMMV

Mouse: Tons of options but for I really enjoy my G602 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Mouse-Battery/dp/B00E4MQODC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473201&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g602

Keyboard: I love blue switches and having a numpad on a TKL is amazing. CoolerMaster has some pretty amazing mechanical keyboards. I recommend this one. http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473227&sr=8-3&keywords=cm+rapid+fire+tk

Otherwise I currently use a the Quick Fire Rapid with blue http://www.amazon.com/Coolermaster-SGK-4000-GKCL1-US-Storm-QuickFire-Rapid/dp/B0068INSUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473343&sr=8-1&keywords=cm+quick+fire+rapid+blue

I have the CM Storm Quickfire TK and love it. I have the brown switch option which is pretty quiet but not silent. Definitely not as obnoxiously loud as the blue switches.

u/CrustyButtAss · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have one. I like it. But I only like it because of the price tag; I make myself like it because of how it costs.

I was one of the people that sped down to fry's electronics on launch day and picked myself a cherry mx red version. I had never used mx red's before, but lately I have been getting into the CS:GO competitive scene and thought I could be in the top 5% if I bought reds. I have no idea why I would think this, but I did.

Now, before I get into the pro's and cons, let me preface this: I've bought 4 mechanical keyboards in the last year: so I'm not a noob with keyboards. I currently own a Quickfire TK, Blackwidow Ultimate 2013, Logitech G710+, and of course, the K70 RGB.
The OG keyboard (and probably my favorite to this day, is the Quickfire TK). It was small, light, never slipped, and always had a very bright backlight (this is important for later). The Blackwidow, also had a gorgeous backlight and this keyboard comes in a close second. Then the last 2 keyboard purchases I've made have since gone down-hill. I figured out I can't live without blue keys. Not reds, not browns, not blacks, hell, not even fucking turquoise.

Now this is probably a personal issue, but I can't live if I am not typing/gaming on blues. While writing this, I HAVE to look down while typing, and it is only on this keyboard. It just feels... weird. Something about blues on my fingers make my "keystrokes" more fluid. So enough with my personal problems with the keyboard, let's get on to the issues everyone has with the keyboard.

Pros:

  • The wristrest. I bought this keyboard almost primarily for that. And I can say, that isnt really is a big deal, and I probably won't buy another keyboard without one.
  • The software; I'm talking about features here. The UI is something different and I'll touch on that later. It really is feature-packed. With the API out there, and the helpful and supportive community, you an literally do anything. Yes, anything.
  • Media controls. I never knew how much I liked/needed them. They are very useful for muting your mic/speakers for when your family comes in and you are in a skype call with your friends. (I mapped mine to mute my mic, not a native feature obviously).

  • I like the brushed aluminum look, it is quite nice.

    Cons:

  • The software; talking about the UI. It is atrocious, but I'm willing to ignore it sense after using it for awhile, it starts to make sense and isn't that terrible.

  • The brightness. I find nobody touches on this, but I guarantee you'll notice it. It seems the LED's are dimmed by 50-75% on purpose. And no, I'm not exaggerating. Now I believe this is because the LED's are mounted within the switch to reduce ESD. However, I would almost want to risk ESD (I've never had a LED be a victim of ESD before), than to have them be less bright. Go pick one up, try it, and you'll automatically notice it on all the colors.

  • No side USB ports / audio ports. Not a huge deal, but I enjoyed them when I was using my black widow.

  • The corsair gaming logo doesn't really bother me, but it might bother you, so, I guess that's a con.

  • The software..again, likes to freeze (pic below). Occasionally, the software won't crash, but the lights will just freeze. Whenever I press a key, it rainbows only that key, and as I'm typing this, a few of my keys are stuck mid-rainbow.

  • I like the brushed aluminum for it's looks, but I don't like how I have to clean it every week or two. I do eat alot at my desk, but I always find hairs, food, and a little bit of coffee stains there. Nothing the keyboard can do about it, and not really a con, but just keep in mind that you will have to clean it alot.

    Conclusion:

The keyboard is feature packed and has potential, although it just isn't there yet. I am very excited for a (hopefully) revision 2.0 of this. Essential, if Corsair came out with a razer blackwidow which had a wrist wrest and slightly tweaked the software, I would buy it. The keyboard currently is $133 on amazon for Cherry Blues. At this price, I would say it's worth it to atleast tinker around with. It is a nice keyboard, and I think I will continue using it, however, once again, it needs work.

If you can pick it up for $133 or less, and you aren't going to spend your money on anything better, atleast give it a try; Maybe you'll like it.

I hope you found this informative and useful :D

Either that or the Poseidon Z switch tenkeyless (not sure where to get it in the states though). That one however uses Kaihua switches, clone Cherry MX switches.

A couple of quick off-topic questions for you, GloriousGe0rge.

Will Corsair every make a tenkey RGB mechanical keyboard? Similar to the CM Storm Quickfire TK? Keep in mind, I said TK (tenkey). Not TKL (tenkeyless).

How about a wireless RGB mouse?

Also, will they ever make their own RGB gamepad like the Logitech G13?

I ask because if you had these three products, then I would have a full assortment of matching Corsair RGB accessories with my system. I already have a Corsair H105 with the HD120 RGB fans. It goes really well with my EVGA 1080 FTW that also has RGB lighting. I'm thinking of getting the RGB mousepad that you guys made, and having a matching keyboard, gamepad, and mouse would be friggin' amazing. Fully controllable with your software would be great, too.

Oh, and I want RGB RAM lights. :P

I have a CM Storm Quickfire mechanical keyboard and I've never had any issues with simulataneous keystrokes.

From the specs:
> NKRO through USB for unlimited simultaneous keystrokes

I recommend everyone who spends a lot of time at a computer to get a mechanical keyboard -- they're just awesome. It's easier on your fingers and you can type faster because the keys are spring loaded. It's one of the best upgrades I've made to my PC and I can't stand keyboards with membrane switches anymore.

u/methoxeta · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

You can choose normally but they're out of stock on the coolermaster website.

So the answer is yes.

The [CM Storm Quickfire TK] (http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405376725&sr=8-2&keywords=cm+storm) with blue switches is $99.99, and it's great for typing. Also this version doesn't require you to sacrifice the ten-key pad in order to lower the price.

u/jhaun · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Callled a TK plate according to Cooler Master. That looks awesome.

u/UWot69 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Not the K70. Unless you NEED it to be corsair, there are better options for less.

Assuming you are USD http://amzn.com/B0068INSUM 70 dollars for cherry mx blue

http://amzn.com/B00A378L4C 85 dollars for a backlit version

u/rashondala · 1 pointr/keyboards

lack of a numpad really kills it for me, since I use them a lot for various games and as a way to quickly input numbers. I did see this, though, so I might splurge a little later on to get that version.

u/Dark_Mage- · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Also, there is an active $20 rebate offer for QFTK blue @ Amazon right now. There is no way to tell if they have the firmware revision or not. FWIW, I ordered mine from Buy a couple months ago and it obviously does not have the update. :(

u/Broken_Mega_Buster · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Oh on amazon it shows it with blue LEDs but I could be wrong though. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A378L4C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

And yeah I'll check out the Ducky Shine, also, do you know of any colored key caps that let blacklight through? Not translucent just through the letters.

u/Rich_Nix0n · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I just bought the Quickfire TK with Blues from Amazon yesterday for $75 and got an email saying it's expected to be delivered March 2nd-16th. If you buy it from Amazon (click other sellers) it's $99.99 right now but the price fluctuates a lot so keep an eye on it and you can save a few bucks.

u/ChickensAintDucks · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have had a CM Storm QuickFire TK for a while now, and am now looking to move on to a full size keyboard.

I've been looking at the Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard as a possible buy, and was wondering what you guys think of it. More specifically, I've seen people mention their dislike for the stock key caps, and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for nicer ones.

Thanks. :)

EDIT: If any of you reading this owns one of these keyboards, I'd love to hear your opinions on it!

u/Fibreman · 1 pointr/emacs

I like my cm to quickfire here I use the brown switches but they are currently out of stock. It has a numpad fused with the arrow keys and you can switch by pressing the numlock button. Since the keys are taller and the keyboard is compact I can hit the C- key with my outer palm which helps reduce pinky strain.

u/Blckpnthr · 1 pointr/buildapc

I have a CM Storm Quickfire TK mechanical keyboard. Whenever I'm playing Divinity OS and hit F5 to quicksave nothing happens because that key is also set to play/pause. Am I just missing something that will allow me to actually use the keys a F-keys or am I out of luck?

First gaterons have been a community favorite quite a few even love their switches better then cherry, they are one exception to the clones aren't as good rule. Also check out a cm storm keyboards they are pretty good, maybe not the floating and white plate you want but still a great keyboard.

Link to a cm storm keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A378L4C/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473305747&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=cm%2Bstorm%2Bcherry%2Bmx%2Bblue&dpPl=1&dpID=31wokVpI8eL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

By QFR you mean Quick fire rapid? The Quick fire TK has white back lighting. From Newegg it didn't look like the quick fire rapid had back lighting. Here is the TK that I am talking about: http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

Also, to the other guy, I don't really care about Macro keys. I don't play games that I would need them for. I only play video games about 1-2 hours a day, and a little light typing. The reason I like the 710 is because of the plentiful media keys and the volume wheel.

Neither of you said anything about the custom Nighthawk keyboard. For the same price as the Logitech, but very high quality and custom keycaps. I like that one too. No backlighting, but that is only really a small addition I don't care too much about.

I recently got the Quickfire TK form Coolermaster with MX Red switches. Really awesome keyboard with a pretty small formfactor (Arrow and certain function keys are embedded into the numpad). The buildqiuality is great, with the red switches its actually pretty quiet without lacking that special mechanical clack and it feels much more responsive then my old G110.

I bought it for 75€ maybe you can find a decent price from a retailer close to you.

P.S.: I have no fucking clue why the version with red switches is that much more expensive on amazon.com, i was able to find one with red switches for the same price as the others but thats a german retailer.

I'd love to get one of these keyboards at work. They might be louder, but you can type so much faster!

Thanks for the contest! Hello, Goodbye~

I've actually been looking into a few more keyboards and I think I'm set on the Cooler Master Quickfire TK. The Blue keys just seem like the best for me.

u/Trout_Tickler · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I'm a proud owner of a CM Storm Quickfire TK, which comes in 3 flavours with different switches & backlight colour, see this, this and this aswell as google searches to find which type of switch you prefer. It cost me ~£90 in total, but I paid a bit extra for fast delivery.

It's currently on Amazon for $75, but look around for a cheaper price if you're bothered.

I got the blue model with Cherry MX blue switches, which are the clicky ones :p, and I've had no problems and am currently loving it. Best advice before you invest in a keyboard is to buy one of these first so you can test the water on what type of switch you prefer, then go from there :)

u/Autonomoose · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Leds will come at cost. If that's what your after for that price, you're back at looking at the knock offs and risk quality. I'd look to shell a couple more bucks and get a CM QFR if you want LEDS as well as reliable board.

Hi there, if you want a non mechanical, I would recommend the Logitech Logitech G105, it was my first keyboard and I loved it, or if you want a mechanical then this one, let me know what you think.

u/DyLaNzZpRo · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Well, one has macros (there's a program that lets you use macros on LITERALLY any keyboard, any input device for that matter) with dedicated macro keys, the G710 has Cherry MX blues against Kailh blues, but it's quite a bit more expensive.

Another thing worth noting, the G710 has a non-standard bottom row, so replacing keycaps is near impossible.

IMO, if you're not wanting to spend much, get the Azio board. If you're spending more, I'd personally either get the CM Quickfire TK, which still has a non-standard bottom row, but it generally has better quality, and it also has somewhat of a unique layout, if you want a TKL layout (no numpad), there's the CM Quickfire Rapid, non-backlit but it's quite cheap, has more or less identical build quality as the TK, there's also the backlit Rapid-I, but it's $100. IMO, the price jump from the G710 is 100% worth it due to the standard layout and well, less ugly (some call it ugly, some don't mind it) design.

u/bernard_sanders_ · 1 pointr/battlestations

u/trashcan86 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

OK, I think I can pony up the extra $15 for the CM QuickFire TK (as the Rapid doesn't seem to have backlighting or Prime shipping). Does this look like a good deal?

http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

Also, which switch should I get? My use case is programming and writing papers, so I'll be doing a lot of typing. I've heard the Blue is the best here, and since I'll be using this at home, noise is not a big concern.

u/PyjamaSlam · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Hey guys!

I'm slowly becoming obsessed with this sub, think it's such a cool community and I love all the gorgeous keyboards being posted.

I'm looking to buy my first keyboard, and I have been thinking about the CM quickfire TK: https://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C

I love the form factor as I love the compact size but really want a num-pad. I've recently started seeing more keyboards like this though, I think they're the RS96 and ZZ96? Like these: http://imgur.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards/By0LAaZ and Ducky Lightsaver: http://imgur.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards/ybQRL

But I have no clue where to find these. I kinda assume that these are really expensive/rare or something? Are there any other boards that have this layout that would be better for someone looking to buy their first board?

Thanks for any help. Also, just to say, I wouldn't be against putting one together, but I understand that can be quite an expensive/intensive process

u/Dorlas · 1 pointr/battlestations

u/langtuqn2007 · 1 pointr/mechmarket

It's not standard full size, but somewhat really close.

Or you can just go around this sub and find out if anybody is selling their keyboard that fits your need.

u/Entropian · 1 pointr/gaming

There's the CM Storm Quickfire. I'm not sure how durable it is, as it seems to be the cheapest keyboard with Cherry switches.

If look isn't a factor to you, maybe you'd dig the Unicomp keyboards. They are basically copies of the IBM Model M keyboards from the 80's. They are very, very durable, and Unicomp allegedly has trouble making them profitable, as they never break. The problem is that their keys are quite heavy, and are not the best for gaming.

This is what the CM Storm Quickfire sounds like, and this is what the Unicomp Ultra Classic sounds like. There are other mechanical keyboards that aren't so loud. Personally, I love the sound and feel of the clicky kind of keyboard.

u/Jack_Carver93 · 1 pointr/Watches

u/TytosPrime · 1 pointr/EmeraldPS2

Oh yeah those old IBM keyboards are loud as hell. This is the keyboard I use at the moment. It's pretty basic but well made, the blue keys are quite loud though and take a little pressure to activate. I'm by no means an expert but I think black, brown and clear mx keys are supposed to be quiet/er. They all have a different feel too so I'd read up on them first. Red keys are supposed to be good for gaming apparently. I've heard good things about corsair, ducky and das keyboards but they're a little more expensive.

Haven't really seen many white mechanical keyboards sorry, you could try painting it yourself :P

u/Rkoif · 1 pointr/gadgets

u/Zeno_of_Elea · 1 pointr/buildapc

Aren't Razer Greens closer to MX Blues? In that case, you might like the Quickfire TK with blue switches (it's got a blue backlight, too). I don't know how much of a difference there is between the two switches, though.

For Browns, I found the Rosewill Apollo, but I haven't really heard anything of it. I had a Rosewill RK-9000BR which I didn't have any trouble with, and I'd imagine it would be similar to that.

Do note that the former keyboard is a kind of weird full-size minus arrow key column layout, while the latter is a full-size one. Also, your choice isn't that bad, but for the price you could also get something like an MK Disco or a Ducky Shine One.

Anyways, you can always try /r/mechanicalkeyboards, but it would help if you provided a little more specifics (size is the one you're missing I think? Maybe more). Check out the wiki and you can also ask around on one of the dedicated threads for keyboard buying.

u/neomysticism · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

u/Metaldrake · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

This one is the one I'm looking at, but I'm also open to other (read: possibly cheaper but good quality) suggestions too. 90$ is pretty much my max though.

Pay attention to what type of switches the keyboard uses. This will determine 1) Key feel (tactile/smooth) 2) Feedback (bump/click) and 3) Actuation Point (45g-80g).

If you want immediate clicky satisfaction, you can get the CM Storm Quickfire TK which has an odd layout, but is about the size of a TKL (its slightly longer than a QFR). It's not a bad keyboard and has full backlighting, but not as many modes as the Shine III.

I'm getting all set to purchase my first mechanical keyboard. I think I've narrowed it down, but of course I need y'all to tell me what I should buy.

I like the small form factor of the ten-keyless, but I actually use the ten-key when typing numbers. I really like the "medium" or "90%" style that incorporates the arrow keys and home row into the ten-key area, but there seems to be very few of these on the market.

I'm looking at the MasterKeys Pro M

and the CM Storm Quickfire TK

Are there any other of these 90% style on the market?

I'm not a gamer, and I don't really care about backlighting, although I wouldn't mind it. I will be using it for general web browsing and word processing. From what I've read, I think I want blue switches, but I have never tried any out in person. If I don't end up going with a 90% I will definitely want a full size keyboard.

Any suggestions?
