This RAM is actually 3600 CL18 (18-22-22-42 timings) and not the CL16 shown on Amazon. See the model number: CMK16GX4M2Z3600C18

PCPartPicker also agrees. These sticks aren't on the B-Die list which would 3600 CL16 almost certainly be. The only B-Die from Corsair that is 2x8GB and 3600 CL16 is their Corsair Dominator RGB and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro. This is clearly not any of those kits.

These are Hynix AFR chips.

---

With such bad timings, buy some 3000 CL15 or 3200 CL16 RAM and you should be able to reach 3600 CL18 easily (though staying at 3000 CL15 or 3200 CL16 is probably better performance wise)

Here's a Team kit for $126 + shipping on Newegg, a G.Skill kit for $130 + shipping or some more Corsair RAM for $135 on Amazon that almost certainly can clock to 3600 CL18. Save yourself the extra $55 or time from having to return it to Amazon when you discover it's CL18.

If you want real B-Die, I think this G.SKILL Ripjaws V kit is the cheapest for $193 + $6 shipping from Newegg with 14-14-14-34 timings at 3000mhz. You can clock it to 3600 CL16 fairly easily. Pay the extra $10 for real B-Die or wait till a eBay coupon if you want cheap B-Die.

Hey! It looks like you've got a pretty solid build started here! I just want to point out a few things to make your life just a little bit easier.

  1. The motherboard you have will NOT work with the CPU that you've chosen. You picked a Z170A board, which works with the 6th and 7th generation (if BIOS is flashed) of Intel CPU's, and you're buying an 8th generation. So I would recommend this board or this one instead. Either will work, it just depends on how much money you want to spend.
  2. Don't buy the power supply you've picked. It puts out way more wattage than you'll use, so I would recommend saving some money and maybe picking up this one. As a bonus it has an RGB fan, so that's kinda cool. It's also fully modular, meaning that you only need to plug the cables into the PSU that you need instead of having extras to hide in your case.
  3. I'd also save some money on your RAM. This set is cheaper, faster, and only requires that you use two of your RAM slots instead of all four. More upgradeability in the future!
  4. Think about if you really need 2TB of storage right now. The 1TB SSD you have picked out is going to be great, and if you're new to PC gaming it's going to have plenty of space for awhile. You can always pick up a new HDD (like the Seagate one you have in your cart) later down the road.
  5. With the money that you've saved, I think that you could upgrade your graphics card from your 1060 (a GREAT option, don't get me wrong) to a 1070 like this one. (EVGA is a great company in my opinion, and I love their graphics cards.) It's a great contender for both 1440p and 1080p gaming!
  6. Others have said to get a cheaper air cooler instead of opting for the water cooler that you've picked. If you decide to go that route (completely fine) I would maybe go with something like this if you want something extra beefy to keep your CPU cool, or this less beefy one. Either way, 8th generation CPUs run hot, so the water cooler you have would work great.

So there ya go! I hope that you enjoy your new build, it's going to be amazing! If you PM me I'll add you on Steam and we can play some games together when your build is all set!

Yeah it'll help https://www.computerbase.de/2019-03/amd-ryzen-cpu-ddr4-ram/2/
You can imagine where 2133 would be. Should be roughly the same difference between the 2666 and 3466 results.

Get any 3000MHz+ kit that people've said works, or is said to work in your mobo's QVL which you can find on its site.

> Not in this case. 3kMHZ just aounds like you don't know your prefixes.

Well considering that it is industry standard to use MHZ instead of GHZ...

Edit: Your flair says "32 GB DDR4 3000[MHZ]". Do you not know your prefixes?

u/MaybeSomethingRandom · 9 pointsr/buildapcsales

Typical 16gb 3000mhz price.

CAS15 is $65 on amazon.

Might want to pcpartpicker stuff before you post it here.

u/_akrom · 8 pointsr/hardwareswap

Heads up man, this is super high for what you have. You can buy 16gb 3000 speed for $58 on Amazon

u/Sand_Coffin · 7 pointsr/buildapcsales

I got these for $73 in October 2015 NOT on sale. I didn't know how to look for computer part sales then, so I just got them because I wanted an upgrade from my 6GB of RAM I had before that.

Then when I made my new build, I got these for $80 this past Black Friday.

u/nannerb121 · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

Not sure why they'd throw a 9900K with a 2070... i mean the price isnt God awful... but if you want to save some money I'd go with THIS ONE... quite a bit cheaper and still has a 2070... will fare just fine for the greater majority of things.

Edit: the one thing that I'd be careful with on this one is the RAM that it comes with... seems to come with 2400mhz ram... not sure how much you know about RYZEN but RAM speed matters a lot more for them compared to Intel... If you go for this computer... I'd probably take the ram out and sell it and throw in something like this. The processor will run MUCH better with that ram and youll probably only have to spend about $40-$50 more after you sell the ram that the computer comes with

Regarding your build below, most of it looks good. I have a few refinements you may wish to consider.

CPU: The 3600 is a fantastic go-to CPU and I have no complaints.

Mobo: The MSI Tomahawk is perhaps the most-recommended board on the AM4 platform. I have no complaints. The MAX version should come with the requisite BIOS updates needed to just slot in your 3600 and go. In theory.

RAM: I would recommend a 2x8 kit instead of the 1x16 kit. Taking advantage of dual-channel memory is worth 15-20% in games and perhaps is worth even more in workstation tasks. Amazon is selling a 2x8 kit at 3000 MHz speed for $65, so take a look at that.

SSD: I think the Intel 660p is perfectly fine for 95% of first-time builders. Some people will urge you to get a somewhat more expensive SSD.

HDD: I have no complaints about the 3TB Seagate.

GPU: You can probably get a somewhat better 5700 XT if you spend $20 to $30 more. By "better" I mean one that runs slightly cooler and slightly quieter. Gamers Nexus did a big review here. Their "best overall" is a $420 model available here.

Case: Subject to taste. Pick something according to your aesthetics.

I hope this helps!

That is a steal, if you buy it for 750 AUD (540 USD) you could sell the RAM and buy faster sticks, like these ones. As for the CPU, you could overclock it with that liquid cooler, saving some money by not having to buy a new cpu. The GPU is worth the 750 AUD itself, but I can see if the value of it has gone down due to usage overtime. Other than that, this is a great rig and I'm sure it will perform great.

EDIT: Mobo is the ASUS X470 ROG Strix Gaming-F

I don't plan to clock to the full 3200hhz anyway so I'm okay with 3000.

Oh, forgot to mention that- my RAM is this corsair vengeance- https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8

It seems to only want to max out at 3066Mhz.

Just found that my motherboard has a new BIOS update though, so I'll try installing that

u/RickyCZ · 3 pointsr/buildapc

If you are talking about this RAM, Asus Strix B350-F has it in their QVL.

u/BabyMonkeyOnPig · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

$94 but here ya go

u/euopm7 · 3 pointsr/buildapc

I'm looking to pick up this CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 ram for my b350 plus motherboard however the mobo's QVL list is slightly confusing to me because it lists that specific model number twice, one that's labeled "ver.4.24" that is said to support speeds of 2933 and another that reaches only 2133.

Is it basically a lottery that I'm gonna get a set that will reach anywhere near 3000 MHz or is there a way of knowing beforehand what version I'll receive from Amazon? If I get unlucky and get a pair that can only reach say 2133 will I be able to return it?

Thank you.

u/JacobNordhoff · 3 pointsr/HardwareSwapUK

It's also only £110 on Amazon :/

u/dethsesh · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Well it's almost as if you have to go out of your way to get 2x4GB now. Most deals are for 16GB sets and they are priced competitively.

I'm just linking a set to get an idea of the difference, but most people are going to just shell out the extra $45 for double the ram
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=twister_B01M33CGCY?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

u/Subzer013 · 3 pointsr/okc

GPU and CPU you can buy on amazon that’s pretty basic. I’d get some really good high speed ram because ryzen loves to use that high speed ram for some reason, it runs really well on 3200+ ram.

Edit: 3000mhz will probably suffice.

u/x5cp · 3 pointsr/newzealand

Most things will be cheaper if you buy from the US but some things may not be significantly cheaper to justify the extra hassle of buying from overseas.

Look at this ram for example 16GB ddr4 ram on Amazon = US$75.73 (NZ$109.47) or buy in New Zealand from pcforce and it would cost $229.00. So you save ~$119.53 (depending on currency fluctuations).

However if the item if over $400 you will have to pay GST + Import fees of $50 and it is then usually cheaper to buy in New Zealand.

u/Solie_DerpWaffel · 3 pointsr/hardwareswap

FYI ram has really fallen in price recently, you can pick up a kit of 16gb Corsair vengeance 3000mhz for $65 new on amazon.

Instead of 4x4 modules, get 2x8 modules. Here's the 2x8 3000 MHz kit: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2B3000C15-Vengeance-3000MHz-Performance/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518621614&sr=8-1&keywords=ddr4%2B16gb&th=1
Regarding the mainboard, you could invest those 20£ more in a better one, like a Killer SLI.

u/Stekkerbox · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Change two things

  • Use dual channel ram. like these

  • Upgrade the CPU to an Ryzen 7 1700. Then you're good to go.

u/Quil0n · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I agree, GTX 1080 and i7-6700k are good changes.

Only thing I want to add is that most people don't need an ATX build unless they're doing triple SLI, insane water cooling, or have 10 drives. Still pick a case that fits your aesthetic choice, but IMO a mATX case like, for example, the Corsair Air 240, is just fine. Or just stick with an ATX build (that's your call).

Some minor stuff: you should be able to get faster RAM for the same price. Like this. Or get the same speed RAM for cheaper.

Also you don't need a fan hub, the Enthok Pro comes with one. While you won't be able to control them individually, the fans don't need to be individualized (just link them all to CPU/GPU temps).

Last thing is that you could get away with a 750W G2 PSU. Even if you plan to SLI 1080s in the future they won't consume that much power.

Edit: I lied, one more. Get the 850 Evo instead of the 840, 850 is much better.

u/AlanOC91 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Yep got DDR4 ram.

  1. I didn't flash a new bios.

  2. I did OC the CPU to 4.5ghz (or 4.4ghz will have to check when I get home) but I ran many stress tests and the OC seemed stable with no crashes. Also includes Firestrike benchmarks.

The error seems to indicate a GPU problem but maybe it is the CPU OC. I thought it may have been me and my afterburner settings but it crashes with afterburner off too.

Secondo me potresti scegliere in base a: estetica, disponibilità di installazione ventole, filtri antipolvere (molto importanti), e chicche varie. Non so consigliarti nulla.

  2. 1080p 144fps: rtx 2060. Butti giù qualche filtro inutile e li avrai senza problemi. Nei titoli da te citati senza nessuno sforzo.
  3. 1440p 60fps: RTX 2060 [Video performance in 1080p e 1440p].

Bella domanda. Non sono un esperto, te ne linko qualcuno, quelli più noti ed usati in pratica, ma non sono davvero la persona più adatta. Magari ti sa aiutare r/Monitors

  • 1080p: AOC 75hz, 27 pollici AOC 144hz 27 pollici Asus 1080p 60hz, 27 pollici, Asus 1080p 144hz
  • 1440p: Asus 1440p 75hz 27 pollici, AOC 1440p 144hz.

1440p a 60fps. Questa configurazione secondo me è ottima.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, but I had classes at school all day. Here is a build for you in all Euros.

CPU: $218

MOBO: $119

RAM: $92

SSD: $70

HDD: $40

GPU: $480

OS: $23

Case: $117

PSU: $104

CD Drive: $21

TOTAL: $1284

I realize that this is over your initial budget, but you mentioned that you could add an extra $100. Now for the explanations:

  • I did not change your CPU, but instead just found an actual link.

  • You do not need to buy thermal paste, as your CPU comes with a stock heatsink, which has thermal paste pre-applied.

  • I changed your motherboard to a compatible one, and then changed it again (when making the list in euros) for price reasons. Also keep in mind that Z series motherboards (as in Z97) are meant for overclocking. This is a method of getting better performance from your CPU. However, it requires specialized parts, like a Z series motherboard, and an unlocked CPU (shown with a K as in 6600K). These parts are more expensive. Because of that, I recommend you don’t overclock, which means you do not need the fancy, Z series motherboard. Instead I went with a H170.

  • Because I went with a different motherboard, different RAM was needed.

  • You chose a GTX 970 GPU. I switched it to a 1070. The reason for this is that it is a newer card with better performance. The 9 or 10 in the front shows which series the card is in, and the 70 shows which version of that series it belongs to, with a higher number meaning better performance. So therefore, a 1080 is better than a 1070 or 1060, and a 1070 is better than a 970 or 870.

  • You chose a Fractal Design R4 for your case. This case is the older version. I upgraded it to the R5.

  • Lets talk PSU’s. These can be very confusing. Obviously, you need to pick one that can supply enough watts to power your PC. You did that just fine. However, there are other things to consider. When it comes to PSU’s, not all watts are created equal. Two PSU’s may provide the same amount of power, however be very different in price. The cause of this comes down to the build quality of each. This affects 4 (main) things, noise, reliability, modularity, and efficiency. Hopefully the first 2 are self-explanatory. If a PSU is fully modular, that means that all of the internal cables that attach to your motherboard or GPU or hard drives or whatever can be completely removed from the PSU itself. This is very useful as it allows you to manage them much better. Efficiency means that less of the power you draw from the wall is being lost as heat. This not only reduces your electricity bill, but also means that your PSU will be cooler, creating less heat for your CPU and GPU. Efficacy is rated using the 80+ scale, which you can see here. Because of these 4 factors, I went with a higher-quality PSU.

Hope all of this helps! If you have questions, related or not, feel free to message me!

Ryzen loves faster ram, and dual channel makes a huge difference

A few things:

  • You should not be paying $200 for the Extreme 4+ even if it comes with the extra USB dongle (that's what the + denotes).

  • If you just want a cheap board that will do moderate OC + SLI something like GB Z170XP-SLI will get the job done for a lot less. Dmitri from HWC is using it in his skylake build just fine @4.6 on his 6700K.

  • If you aren't EVGA fanboy you can get MSI 980Ti for $623 off Amazon. (In stock Jan 9)

  • You can find faster ram kits for similar price / equal speed for less. Corsair LPX DDR4-3000 CL15 2x8 is one such kit, you can keep shopping around for other color scheme/brand preferences.

  • I'd ditch the 212 and replace it with something better using the savings from the above. Preference for high end air cooling unless you can get a proper WC loop going.

  • Pure personal preference (nothing wrong with S340) but I'd go with the Enthoo Pro M instead for similar price.
u/a_single_testicle · 2 pointsr/buildapc

As /u/DanPlaysVGames noted, your budget is way over your current price point. Are you looking to spend more money?

If so, you could drop in another 980 Ti, pick up a Samsung 950 Pro, or even move up to an i7.

Otherwise, the only small thing I could comment on with your current build is the 4x4 memory kit. Why not go 2x8? Example

u/throwmydongatyou · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

If you've got a 1080, you've got to get something to match it. I don't know where you'd shop for computer parts, but since you used a dollar sign, I'll assume you're in the US. Let's check on Amazon.

$375 for the motherboard and CPU.

$105 for the RAM.

No problem!

u/QualityPlayer · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

I paid $69.99 for this back in May 2016, which is its all time low. Now it's $147.99.... lol

OK. Let's say you have an FX 8350. It's possible to get a decent upgrade with a Ryzen 5 2600 @ $118.00 + an ASUS PRIME B450A/CSM @ $79.00 for less than $200.00 but DDR3 will not work with that or any newer motherboard.

You might want to up your cap by another hundred for tax and memory.

u/divijkm · 2 pointsr/IndianGaming

I must warn you one thing....always ask for cpu + motherboard as a package. dont ask for it seperately. this comes from my experience as a person who has visited atleast 6 shops. They want to sell a bundle and will give it to you for cheap if you take both from the same place.

With that out of the way, coming to your question, this is my setup......http://www.userbenchmark.com/PCBuilder/Custom/S93822-M476362.153864.480586.182068.104952vsS0-M?tab=MBD

To state it explicitly, it is motherboard = Gigabyte GA-B450M DS3H-CF and for Ram, go for 2x8gb ddr4 corsair vengeance lpx c15 3000 https://www.amazon.in/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-PC4-24000-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8. if you want 8 gb ram, go for that.

u/Microsoft_Gerald · 2 pointsr/buildapc

2666MHz C16, eh. Not the best deal in the world on RAM.

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8/ is a little bit cheaper and quite a bit better on timings and MHz.

Personally? Go with the RAM I listed (because it's better) and upgrade that GPU to a 1080. The performance jump from a 1070 to a 1080 is a nice jump.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137084&cm_sp=Homepage_BS-_-P5_14-137-084-_-09122018

Why? Because you're gaming mostly.

u/victorywei · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

If we're just talking about gaming you won't see a difference. Here is an affordable ddr4 16gb kit, or this if you'd prefer to stick with rgb.

Audio Interface: Roland Quad-Capture

Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 770

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

GPU: NVidia GTX 1050

HDD: Seagate BarraCuda 2 TB

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB

Here's why I chose these components.

Audio Interface: All of Roland's products that I used were well-built, aesthetic and most of all sounding great!

Headphones: I've been using these exact headphones for about 5 years and they are very comfortable, robust and precise in sound.

CPU: The new Ryzen CPUs are in my opinion perfect for music production. They have a nice price-performance ratio and give you 6 cores and 12 threads which can beneficial when using at least 12 tracks (which I assume you will).

GPU: The NVidia GPU is capable of handling most games that are not too graphically intense. You can also pick an equivalent AMD GPU, I have always been with NVidia so that's what I chose.

HDD: The Seagate BarraCuda hard drives are cheap but they work perfectly and 2 TB should be enough to handle all the programs and sample libraries.

SSD: To be honest, I just heard great things of these SSDs. I am sure you can also pick a different brand but I wouldn't risk that with the SSD. 250 GB should be enough for your OS and DAW.

RAM: 16 GB is more than enough and the clock speed of that RAM is pretty high.

Of course you also need other stuff like a PC case, power supply, monitor etc. but I figured I would let you choose these components since they are mostly personal preference. However, I would advise against very cheap power supplies. You don't want them to blow up the whole computer.

u/clegmir · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

All good!

Echoing what /u/DubbleYewGee mentioned - adding an SSD would be the biggest improvement. 1700 + RX 580 won't be an issue for 1080p gaming, but DDR4-2400 is a little slow. Ryzen really likes faster RAM (CAD$122).

I don't know if the stock motherboard will support an M.2 drive (like the Intel 660p), but Adata's SU800 is often on sale for ~US$100 / 1TB.

u/TheRealKingCole · 2 pointsr/bapccanada

You won't need the after markrt cooler if you're running a i5 8400, the stock cooler would be more than enough.

I don't know if this is a good deal. Considering two higher clock RAM were on sale less than a week ago and posted on this sub. Hell, even the Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz is a better deal and still live.

  1. G.Skill Sniper 3600Mhz (2x8GB for $138 = $69 per stick)
  2. G.Skill Aegis 3000Mhz (8GB for $58 per stick)
  3. Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz LPX 16GB (2x8GB for $140 = $70 per stick, CL15) Amazon Link

Edit: Added Corsair RAM, still available on Amazon as of 03:00AM 10/13/18
u/Mr_Meeks · 2 pointsr/buildapc

So you are correct 3000 MHz is usually good for your money. CL ratings or CAS rating are refering to the lag for the RAM- anything 16 and under should be fine.

RAM can be faster than what the CPU officially supports because the RAM has been factory overclocked. To enable this overclocking you have to go into your BIOS and under RAM speed you select the XMP Profile listed. If you don't do this then it will automatically run at 2666 MHz which is fine but you might as well get all the speed you are paying for.

The link below shows an example kit of RAM that has good timings (C15).

I too tried to find good ram on here but it always sold so quick I could never catch it.

Just so you know, Ryzen only gets significant gains up to 2933mhz. Anything over 3000mhz you're only getting a 2-5% increase at best.

If I were you, I'd shoot for some 3000mhz CAS 15 like this Corsair ram for $145

u/Xankar · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It'll run so long as it's DDR4. It's really hard to go wrong with ram.

Here's the ram I suggest. It's the same that you have up in your post just the higher clocked version of 3000mhz instead of 2400mhz

u/RandyRedditUser · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Yes, RAM. Lot's of RAM, well, about 8GB to be precise. 16 if you want to see a small performance increase as seen in this video. The actual requirements are 6GB which you should be fine with, and I'm sure GTA is about the same (if not maybe a bit lower?). The two most common options you could go for are DDR3 RAM and DDR4 RAM, the latter being the more expensive one due to higher clock speeds. 8GB of DDR3 costs around $60, whereas 8GB of DDR4 costs around $190.

You will also need at least an Intel Core i3-4340 or an AMD FX-6300 minimum, which is around another $160 (for the Intel one).

You haven't really given me much to go on, listing only two components of your build. Link a PCpartpicker and I can help you out! :)

Here are the PUBG requirements.

Here are the GTA V requirements.

Remember to always look at the 'recommended' components as opposed to the 'minimum' requirements if you're looking for a nice, stable FPS.

For the i7-6700K you should get a better cooler to enable real overclocks, and it is always good to pair a Z170 board with faster ram.

If you can re-use your case you should do so, they are meant to live several builds.

This build combines the mentioned improvements as well as a better psu and a cheaper SSD:

Your build is mostly good, but you could get a faster RAM for around the same price as 2133Mhz is poor value for a Z version motherboard.

Also, your setup with GTX 1080 is a huge overkill for an 1080p 144hz monitor. Either cut the price and go for the GTX 1070, or upgrade your monitor to a 1440p 144hz one, so you could fully utilize your build.

u/RaZoX144 · 1 pointr/buildapc

So what I have right now is :

i5-3470, 16gb ddr3, h67 board, and I am looking to upgrade, up to lets say 450-500$, CPU+MB+RAM.

PSU is Seasonic M12II 620W Bronze +80.

has to be Amazon/Newegg or something that ships outside of US.

Thought about Ryzen 3600 (3600X if the 200$ Amazon deal comes back)

3000/3200Mhz RAM - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0134EW7G8/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

B450 Tomahawk MAX - 115$ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WF6ZQST/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Now 2 questions:

  1. Which RAM is worth it more?
  2. Is the motherboard a good choice, or is 'too much', and if so, would a mATX be also good and what will be the difference?
  3. Also, is the difference between the 3600 and 3600X noticable, and is the difference in the cooler (Stealth vs Spire) significant?

Is this ram compatible with the asrock ab350m pro 4? Looks like it supports the 2800 MHz variant but not the 3000 but I'm not 10000000% sure

u/Ceadarz101 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

First get an i5 6500 and a new motherboard . Then later get 16gb of ram and a newer gpu like a gtx 1060 6gb. Edit: you should also get a good CPU cooler, and a 144hz monitor.
Also, I just noticed the part asking what would affect performance the most the CPU and CPU cooler would be the biggest difference, then the gpu, then the monitor, then the ram.

Are these third party prices real or are they likely scams? They just created their seller profiles and the price is almost half off or more and 2/3 of them ship from Ontario.

Thanks, I think that's the next step I'm going to try. Do you think it's an issue with the RAM I've chosen (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0134EW7G8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) or is just this specific kit dead on arrival? I feel like I've seen a ton of builds in my research using this kit.

If it truly is a compatibility issue, any RAM that you can recommend? Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the reply! The 1600 is a lot easier on my budget, too. And considering my current CPU has.. no threads, I'm pretty sure, 12 will be almost as big a boost as 16. Didn't know all that about intel's CPU either--looks like Ryzen's definitely the better choice, and cheaper, too.

Following your advice on the Ram, I went ahead and changed my cart to this pair and it's actually a little cheaper than the one I was gonna get in the first place!

Ok I found some faster RAM. Vengenace LPX. Should I go with 16gb(2x8) for $125 or the 8gb(2x4) for $70. I really would rather go with $70 one but if it's a must I can do the $125 if the performance and future proof is that much of an improvement.

Im in a situation similiar to the OP. Ive got a Ryzen 2600x on a ROG STRIX b350-f gaming mobo updated to bios 3805 w/ corsair ddr4 3000 (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) (i tried booting it w/ bios 4011 and decided to rollback to try my luck getting it to boot to no avail). The memory is clocked @ 2133 1.2v on the board.

I got the boot kit from AMD and can enter bios using that, however I can't install windows from a USB w/o it freezing within 5 seconds. With my Ryzen 2600x in the slot I dont get any bios and no video.

how much performance am I leaving on the table just leaving it at 2133mhz ?

I ask because turning xmp on which (I think) is an auto overclock type thing makes the system unable to boot. The owners manual is not very clear on a lot of things. They number the ram slots weird and instruct you to install the sticks in the incorrect slots. I also cannot seem to locate a pin for the fancy cpu fan lighting. Nothing on the board matches the cable coming out of it.

oh and I have the newest bios for it (F7)

I've got the same radiator in my 460x right now- yeah the clearance is tight, but it isn't unreasonable. What type of RAM are you using? Unless it has a really tall heatsink I'd say you're probably fine. I'll upload a picture in a bit of my clearance if you'd like. For reference, I'm running this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0134EW7G8/

In terms of using HD120s with the radiator, in terms of size I'd say you can. I don't see why connector compatibility would be an issue either, since the fans have one connection for the fan current and one for the lighting controller.

As for the fan controller, I think the HD can use the RGB controller but I'm not positive on that. I use the included RGB front fans and just added one to the rear of the case, using the plain black fans that came with the radiator for that duty. It would be too bright for my preference with 6 of them so I stuck with 4.

To be honest, I'd take the $250 and get a ryzen 2400g, new motherboard, and 8GB of DDR4 and keep the old graphics card for now.

edit- Actually, might have to get a 2200g BUT thats still decent. It can overclock, has 4 cores, modern architecture, and can be bought NEW for $99 (I think). b350/b450 motherboards can go for cheap, and 8GB of DDR4 can be gotten for around $80. My reasoning for this is because, the phenom is pretty damn old and I PERSONALLY wouldn't use anything from AMD thats older than the FX series.

You benefit a little from 3200 over 3000, but I think the improvement is very small on Intel systems. I think this one could do the trick.

Refurb Pre-Build w/ i-5 7400 and 1060 3gb Keep in mind I am spec'ing a refurb and you could find it in the 'used and new' sellers.

I would also suggest investing in a 16gb dual channel kit of ram as well found here

This would put you right at $710, which is retail new for the build and now you have a a very comfy 16gb of ram. You could even sell the extra stick of 8gb of ram for around ~$50-$70 (hell I would probably buy it!).

u/Noshuru · 1 pointr/buildapc

You should get the newer CPU (Skylake). They generally perform better.

Don't ask me why, but this sub loves recommending Haswell, even though Skylake costs the same, performs better, has more futureproof features, consumes less power and is 2 generations newer.
Locked Skylake CPUs are also able to be overclocked through the BCLK (baseclock) if you buy a Z170 motherboard (Skylake's equivalent of Z97). You can't overclock locked Haswells. If you do buy Skylake, also make sure to buy faster RAM, like this one, it benefits heavily from it. Don't bother with the RAM though if you're not going to get a Z board, as non-Z boards don't support higher than 2133MHz RAM.

It looks like this BIOS improved compatability with the Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15, the current best selling RAM on Amazon, particularly the Hynix die version, 5.30. Choosing the automatic D.O.C.P profile now boots it properly at 2933 MHz.

The odd issue with CAS latency setting itself to 16 remains, however. I had success changing my timings to 14-16-16-31 which also increased performance, though mileage will definitely vary here, silicon lottery etc.

It's actually rated as 3000 Mhz RAM, but when I installed it in my PC and booted everything up, it defaulted to 2133 Mhz, which is what it's been running at for the past year.

So if I'm just manually adjusting the speed of the RAM, XMP is irrelevant for the most part?

So it depends on your budget but Ryzen loves faster ram so I would ditch the stick you have now and buy a kit of 2x8gb kit. I would make sure that it is at least 3200mhz which if you waited until black Friday could be had for very cheap. And if you were to stick with the same Ram you have now make sure to buy the exact same stick you have now.

This is only 3000mhz but for the price it is not bad. My Friend bought a kit of this and it was actually B-DIE.

Probably the best you can do for gaming at $400:

  • Ryzen 2600X - the best budget gaming CPU on the market right now

  • MSI B450I - a micro ITX board, but has one of the best VRMs of any B450 chipset. (Alternatively: MSI B450 Tomahawk - slightly worse VRMs, but you probably won't notice any difference on a 2600X, and this is a full size ATX board.)

  • 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 3000MHz, C15. Highly rated, and some of the cheapest RAM around. Not much to look at, but performance wise, the best you'll get for this price.

I’m not all that good w computers, so this may be an incredibly stupid question, but still:

So Amazon accidentally sent me 8GB of 2133 MhZ RAM.

The problem is that I paid for 16GB of 3000

When I brought this up they sent me the 16 and let me keep the 8. Originally I was happy because now I know I could probably use both, but I only realized the difference in MhZ a few minutes ago.

Will both of them work together on my ASRock B350 mobo? Or do I have to buy a set of 2x4 3000 MhZ? Or better yet, should I just buy another 2x8?

Pick up 4 sticks of 8 GB ram and slap it in. Corsair Vengeance LPX is having a heck of a deal on Amazon right now, but you'll have to buy two sets of 2x8 because the 4x8 set is more than double price, even though it's the same thing.

Double check your setup accepts DDR4 ram though before you pull the trigger.

I would say it's your RAM that is causing the bottleneck. When I had the R5 1600, I remember i did a BIOS reset and forgot to turn on XMP for my 3000Mhz RAM. By default I was playing on 2100Mhz. When I was playing PUBG, I was wondering why my FPS felt so bad, it just didn't feel the same. After turning XMP profile back on, it felt decent again. Having said that, I would suggest upgrade your RAM and CPU (Ryzen is fine, just OC and get fast RAM - very important).

u/Alphaleader013 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I see you've already come pretty far with your research.
The Ryzen 5 2600x is indeed a great value, but when you plan on manual overclocking the Ryzen 5 2600 (non-X) is even better. It will achieve the same overclock as the 2600x (so the exact same performance), while costing less.

As for the Motherboard, here is the generally accepted Quality Tier List of the many AM4 motherboards. I'd recommend checking out the Mid-, Highrange and Top end Boards and see if one of them fits your needs and budget.

Corsair LPX DDR4 is very popular for good reason. I've personally used it in 4 Ryzen builds and it has not dissapointed. I would recommend however to go with 3000MHz instead of 2666MHz. The higher the clockspeeds, the better performance you will get out of your Ryzen processor. 3000MHz is widely considered the sweetspot in price to performance

I would like to point out that the new Ryzen 3000 series is expected to launch at the end of this month/start of June. This will mean that you can either get a more powerfull Ryzen 3000 cpu for the same price as the current 2600. OR get the 2600 at a significant discount. (the discounts are already happining at different retailers as they're clearing stock in anticipation of the new 3000 series.) So if you can wait for just 1 month to, I'd recommend doing that.

u/HitlersLeftTesticle · 1 pointr/buildapc

Since you got room in your budget, go to a 2060. It will last much longer. Here is one on sale that will keep you under your budget. You won't regret it.

Also, you can save a little by going to 3000 mhz RAM. 3200 is an overkill for your build. Go with the Corsair LPX 3000mhz.

here is 2x8 for $80, so $160. i think it's pretty good but RAM prices will likely drop even more soon.

u/BandidTwitch · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well depending on your budget, this is what I would consider a good start. Ryzen 2600 for the cpu, motherboard doesn't matter much so i went with msi pro b350. For ram I'd suggest at least 16gb at 3000mhz. For a gpu depending on your flavor either an Nvidia 1030 or a Rx 560 4gb. I'd go with the rx460 just because there's a lot of weird versions of 1030s now with old ddr3 memory. For storage depending on how many photos shes taking I'd go for a 1tb ssd. A case just has to be big enough for a matx mobo, like this red bitfenix. Then a decent power supply. So it comes out to be about 750 bucks like I said without a budget in mind this is what I would go with lots of value without spending a ton.

Yeah I had been debating upgrading my old Windows 7, i5-2500k living room light gaming/music recording rig in an absolutely enormous Azza Hurrican 2000 case because the DDR3 for it had still been dirt cheap and I could add a tiny SSD boot drive with just the OS and replace the stock CPU cooler with something decent enough to overclock; but with prices dropping so low it could be worth just building a new Ryzen 5 or i3 system in a micro or even ITX case with fully SSD storage and plenty of DDR4.

I guess I'll go with this ram kit - Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mReqzbPNM5B4T

So those sticks with the mobo and CPU above would be good? No more upgrading for awhile? Nothing else I need to buy? ...please say yes...I'm already broke af

u/SpicyCummies · 1 pointr/buildapc

Alright, I fixed the issue with the RAM. The only reason I had 1x16 listed is because it was the only variant of what I wanted on the site. This is what I intend to use. I don’t have plans to go with liquid cooling, mainly because of inexperience and I imagine it costs a lot more. I’ll probably go with the 3 x 140mm fan kit then.

16g of ram is plenty in terms of capacity. But if you have something like 1300mhz then you might want to upgrade. Like, for instance, here is some 3000mhz ddr4 16g ram for $140.

u/itsmeurbrothr · 1 pointr/techsupport

look up the product specs for whatever you have for example https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8/

shows Latency: 15-17-17-35

sometimes its printed on the label on the ram itself.

also, if you arent comfortable doing that, you could always underclock the ram and see if it fixes anything. just make sure you know how to clear cmos in case you screw anything up

i've seen alot of people include thermal paste in their builds, I'm guessing its necessary so any recommendations? also the ramm you mentioned is currently running at 125 on newegg so giving that would this be comparable(https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-PC4-24000-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486517679&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+vengeance+lpx+16gb+2+x+8gb+ddr4-3000+memory)?

Hi, I've bought a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC and I want to buy 16Gb of Ram.

Apparently the motherboard does support the Corsair Vengeance LPX at 3000MHz but not the same model at 3200MHz as the compatibility table says here.

However in the same compatibility table, it's written that it does support other ram at 3200MHz.

Should I try to buy the higher clock rate ones or switch to another model, for example the HyperX Predator 3200MHz DDR4?

Any suggestions on best RAM for this with a Gigabyte AB350 - Gaming 3? I'm confused on the latest with all of this since most of the search results reference Ryzen when it was newly released and everyone was stressing the Samsung RAM over the others. Sounds like a good idea to me, although I would recommend getting a proper 16GB kit - RAM can vary slightly from batch to batch, so it's usually best to get RAM manufactured at the same time / at the same factory, and getting a kit will avoid any potential issues you might have there.

I'd also recommend this kit, it's good value for the price.

The RAM I listed there is a good set to get. 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz. For the CPU I'm not sure, but I would suggest waiting to see how the Ryzen 5 2600x performs as it seems quite promising. Keep in mind that to use that aforementioned RAM and CPU you will need to get a compatible motherboard for the specific generation of AMD Ryzen chip and DDR4 RAM.

Your current Motherboard won't be compatible with DDR4 nor a Ryzen chip most likely.

u/Confused_Shelf · 1 pointr/buildapc

First time building a PC and I have a quick question about RAM memory speed.

If I'm looking at an i5 8600k that supports up to DDR4-2666, am I right in thinking that there is no point getting memory that goes up to 3000MHz even if my motherboard supports up to 4000MHz.

Is it only the CPU that makes use of memory or are there other components that would make use of that faster memory?

Thank you.

It depends on your future plans really but if you're looking to upgrade, I always recommend 3200 CL14 Samsung B Die like these:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-group-dark-pro-8pack-edition-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-pc4-25600c14-3200mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08l-tg.html

Quick and super tight timings with the default XMP, can go a little higher if you want to mess around. I use these in my own machine with 8700k/1080ti, have built a couple of other gaming machines for friends using them and they'll be going into my sons' new Ryzen build.

Make sure they are installed dual channel and if the mobo won't go to 3200, good excuse for an upgrade to a board (MSI B450 Tomahawk is a good budget choice) that will support the new 3x00 Ryzen - a 3600 Ryzen and this ram will last you for a good long time.

If you don't want to spend that much, I've been using this kit with Ryzen 2600 builds:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0134EW7G8/?tag=pcp0f-21

Will be a good step up from your 2400 ram. I would though suggest the 3200 CL14, it'll last for longer.

u/kadenokad · 1 pointr/buildapc

everything looks good except I would personally go for AMD CPU since you are on a budget.
AMD Ryzen7 2700 X will give you more core for 50$ less and higher clock speed. ( You would need to change the mother board to one of with AM4 socket like this one

And if you want to spend le 50$ on something, it would be the RAM, makes it at least 3000 MHz like this one

u/happy0blade · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

so ur case only support either micro-ATX or mini-ITX, and you have an unlocked chip, so i recommend you getting the z170m or z170x boards (Do not buy standard ATX boards, it wont fit your case). you might also want a CPU cooler if you are going to overclock your CPU as it might get a little hot.

i recommend this motherboard by ASRock[ link] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AsRock-Z170M-Pro4S-Skylake-Motherboard/dp/B012D7G26I/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1474366366&sr=1-2&keywords=z170m). they made good and sturdy boards and it fits all your needs. but for CD drive, u need an additional parts because no motherboard support CD directly.

for ram, this is pretty nice. DDR4 with 3000 mHz speed at good price. 2x8gb is better than a single stick because if one stick fails, you still have another 8GB, while if the 16gb single stick fail, u are screwed

u/LobbingLawBombs · 1 pointr/buildapc

Some reviews on this RAM are saying that it runs fine at stock speeds, but they couldn't get it up to 3000 MHz without unsafely increasing the voltage. I want to get this with my z170-hd3... isn't 3000 MHz the stock speed? Does this require overclocking to hit 3000 MHz? I'm confused.

u/GrayGray4468 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yes. For the RAM, you'd need gaming ram - which for 16 GB, is about $80 (depending on brand/type, etc.). The Graphics card is the most important part of a Gaming PC build, so you want that to be the focus of a gaming build. It just so happens that a GeForce GTX970 is a particularly beefy GPU, so it should handle most games you throw at it on 1080p 60fps. The storage, HDD and SSD, get you your data. SSD gathers data much faster, so that's why I recommended it to you, and a separate HDD for everything else.

TL;DR - Yes, you really only need to upgrade your RAM, GPU, and Storage.

u/connorboy · 1 pointr/buildapc

Also do you know why this ram is so cheap? It's corsair so it can't be bad or anything I hope and if it's not a mistake I will buy it right now lol

u/KaineOrAmarov · 1 pointr/buildapc
  1. That RAM is super overpriced anyway.

  2. That's advertising and letting people know it's optimal for AM4, which is very picky for its RAM selection. It works perfectly for Coffee Lake

Something more like this seams better. Reaching a higher price now but I think it's worth it. Was thinking of upgrading the graphics card to the one below also, is this the best 1080 for under 550? This one is also factory overclocked would it still be compatible?

Quick question: When looking for RAM, is there a difference between CL15 and C15?

u/snafu_ow · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I got this ram from Amazon for $199.99. How does it compare to this one?

I know they're not jaw dropping deals but I need to finally build my PC.

u/xDivizible · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd just get some Corsair vengeance lpx 16 GB. It's only $80 .

u/Kipniels-_- · 1 pointr/buildapc

I don't know if u still need one but

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMK16GX4M2B3000C15-Vengeance-Performance-Desktop/dp/B0134EW7G8

That's one for 75 euros in the UK

u/fenrovski · 1 pointr/buildapc

These are 3000mhz, and they are supported by the MOBO. Can i overclock them to 3200?

Found these, compatible with the MOBO and should run 3200, CL18 though.

u/AwkwardSheep · 1 pointr/buildapc

I suppose the difference in programming/modeling/animation won't be noticeable either?

Funnily enough, one of the cheapest RAM option available to me atm is the Corsair LPX 2x8GB at 3000MHz on sale at Amazon, so I'll be over-compensating a little as far as RAM goes.

u/B1Gassfan · 1 pointr/CFB

If you did want a laptop I would totally snag this or this. Both have enough hardware to play current AAA titles and will last for a few years for sure

If you do want to part out a PC to build Amazon might not be the most cost effective so check a bunch of different sites to make sure before pulling the trigger (including microcenter if there's one near you). Here's a decent start list though:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 $199.99

GPU: Zotac RTX 2070 $556.43

Mobo: Gigabyte x470 Aorus Ultra Gaming $124.90

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz $69.99

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo m.2 nvme 500GB for OS/select programs $89.99

2TB Seagate Firecuda SSHDD for library storage, if necessary $59.99

PSU: EVGA 650W, 80 plus gold rated fully modular PSU $97.06

OS: [OEM Win10](https://www.amazon.com/Windows-Home-English-Language-Product/dp/B07TW6G6JP/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=windows+10&qid=1563210474&s=gateway&sr=8-7]. $72.00 Not need if you already have. Pretty sure you can get even cheaper OEM copies out there. Or y'know, other means. Or Linux, etc

Total: $1270.35 including the OEM Win10 which you may or may not need

Missing items: monitor, mouse, keyboard, case. Compared to the prebuilt at $1499.99 that leaves you $229.64 to get a case & any necessary peripherals, upgrade any items on the list, or just pocket the 'savings'

The ibuypower one linked doesn't appear to be that bad. But when reading the comments there are people who got the 8700k version for $1350 (currently $1433, one you linked "on sale" for 1499.99)...so pricing might be misleading. Also keep in mind SI's need to make a profit and usually skimp when it comes to things like cooling, storage and motherboards. I can't tell what mobo that has, but it shouldn't be much of an issue unless you want to overclock, probably not as good components and features as what I listed though. The cooling is actually pretty nice with the cpu watercooling at that price. But not sure on how it is for the other components (ie system case fans). The storage is a bit shit, with a smaller sata ssd and a smaller much slower mechanical hdd. The RAM isn't much better, going off amazon reviews it's basically no name ram at 2666mhz. Also they use a generic 600W psu and apparently the included mouse and keyboard stink. So gotta take the good with the bad but the one I price out looks like a much better option across the board and leaves you room to pick and choose certain upgrades n such

u/shakabuee23 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Nah, not that I know of. The one you picked is reliable and not slow; however I would get this instead from the the same "ram": https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0134EW7G8/?tag=pcp0f-20

It is the same ram except the timing is lower, so it is faster when you set the memory speed to 3000mhz. Also, it is cheaper ($6) so...

u/runfastination · 1 pointr/buildapc

Would it make the most sense then from a cost efficiency perspective to just buy 16x2 of Corsair, the same RAM speed (or should I get 3866)? How do I know if I can get Dual Channel?

I noticed that 3000 vs. 3200 vs. 3866 there is a pretty big difference in price for 2x8.

Is there any difference between these two besides price?

Can someone help me pick some new ram. I bought 2 8gb sticks while I was in korea. They are no name brand I got in a small market for $20 each. After a year one stick failed. I want 16gb ram, but 32gb would be nice for the right price.

I have an intel core i5. Asus maximus VIII ranger Mobo, and radeon rx 480 8gb card.

I am looking at Vengeance LPX 16 (2x8) DDR4 3000Mhz c15.

the 3000mhz CL 15 is on https://www.corsair.com/us/en/RyzenCompatibility but idk when it was last updated

u/gero_martz · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

Also there isn’t any notable difference between 3000MHz ram and 3200MHz. So i would choose the cheaper option.

here i have some recommendations,
Corsair LPX
Crucial Balistix

I dug around and found this faster clock speed and a tad cheaper.

Wait a sec.

The prices just dissapeared, and for my RAM, its back to the normal price. wtf. The prices on partpicker are still showing the $40...

Well then theres no point, i still recommend the RAM tho https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0134EW7G8/?tag=pcp0f-20

Take a look at my list it still says.. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/z3MCzY

My love,

Here is the link on the processor

For some reason i cant find the K version of it, but its some kinf of OC version, pretty old and not the most popular, it makes sense that amazon doesnt show it.

And this is the link on the RAM, 16GB + 1 4GB

u/Wrath-X · 1 pointr/Amd

This Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3000MHz is probably the best bang for buck (97$).

I am keeping an eye on that one and the Dominator 3200MHz just in case it goes on sale ( I have seen it for 129$). But not buying anything until after Zen gets released. Just to make sure it's compatible and stuff.

u/thefeebster · 1 pointr/buildapc

Another vote for this updated one. I think its just a better decision to go with the kaby lake at this point.

The ram is a tiny bit cheaper on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/CORSAIR-Vengeance-3000MHz-memory-Systems/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1485484746&sr=8-5&keywords=corsair+ram

I bought the same one at amazon for cheaper than this (at $99 but DDR4 prices have been increasing since Black Friday). Unfortunately, it increased in price just 2 weeks ago and again yesterday... http://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/CORSAIR-Vengeance-3000MHz-memory-Systems/product/B0134EW7G8 Maybe set an alert.

Otherwise, looking good!

u/SausageCandy · 0 pointsr/overclocking

If you mean the NVIDIA settings panel, I haven't changed anything in there. I can see my performance is set to optimal and can be changed to max performance. Is there anything else I should change in there by default?

When it comes to RAM I bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0134EW7G8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don' think that it is OC'd and I do not believe that I have XMP enabled as I haven't changed any BIOS settings either.

Here's my quick build on it, not perusing for price savings. I could probably shave a few hundred off (i.e. going for air cooling instead of liquid), but if I were going to build one for me, this is how I'd do it. Cost ended up being about on par (~$2,850) for a more powerful machine (GTX1080 > Radeon Pro 580)

Case - $49.99

CPU - $295.00

Motherboard - $114.99

RAM - $126.99

PSU - $129.67

GPU - $576.62

Storage - $139.50

Liquid cooling - $107.99

Display - $1,299.99

Total:
$2840.74

Ways to shave some off -
Look at other monitors, I didn't really hunt too much here as I'm not an expert in that field, so I just looked for a "true" color 5k. I think HP's would fit that bill at around $900 (so $400 cheaper), but I could be wrong, so I went with the more pricey one.

Go with the GTX1070 (saves about $100) or the GTX1060 (saves about $300).

Nix liquid cooling and just go with air cooled (save $107.99)

Which puts a "budget" build of this at ~$2,400, $2,000 if the HP monitor works. Plus, since it's all on Amazon, if you have their store card, -5%, so, that puts us at ~$2280 (-400 if the HP monitor fits the bill) for the budget build and $2,698.70 (-400 if the HP monitor counts) for how I'd actually build it if I were doing it for me.

Well, not every CPU can handle 3000Mhz. That's why yours tells you 2666Mhz. You can put 3000mhz sticks in there but it won't go any faster than 2666Mhz. It would be spending some extra cash for nothing but future proofing incase you upgrade later. When installing the RAM you should also refer to the manual for best dual channel placement. I recommend you use two sticks of 8 rather than one 16 stick.

[This is what I currently have](Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0134EW7G8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NBkCCbQ80SFBZ), but my CPU can handle 3000Mhz

This article is easy to read and helpful here as well.

Good luck mate

Ok well if you've put a midi-tower, I doubt the 1080 will fit in that so you're much better off with a full size tower. You've also chosen an ATX motherboard with definitely will not fit in a midi tower. I'd also recommend choosing some faster RAM, something like this for example
