In order of price:

  • Creative Aurvana Live! (NOT THE LIVE 2).

  • Audio Technica ATH-WS1100

  • Phillips Fidelio X2 The Fidelios L1 are also good on bass.

  • Beyerdynamic DT770

  • V-MODA M100

  • Massdrop x Fostex TH-X00 (Mahogany have the best bass, Purplehearts have the most bass, Ebony have the most controlled bass)

  • Fostex TH900 Simply, the best bass headphone money can afford. Its craaaaaazy.

There are others that people like to recommend the old Denons, specially the D2000 that can be found cheaper in Ebay, but its a pain in the butt to find, same with the MDR-XB1000.

Some people will also mention some JVC ones, but i havent had the chance to try them. Btw some people will recommend the HE400i and please no stay away from them. Stay away from Planars in general if you want Basshead levels of Bass, the LCD-2 Pre-Fazor being the only exception (i tried it like a year ago so i dont remember a lot but i liked it).

If your idea of 'high quality' is 'sounds good enough to recognize what song is playing and doesn't fall apart the first time I use it' then $50 is reasonable. If you want high-fidelity, high-build-quality gear, then you are going to pay a premium for it regardless of what it is--headphones, tools, PC parts, etc.

Creative Aurvana Live are pretty decent, actually

u/igotagamblngsolution · 8 pointsr/headphones

I don't need it, but the Creative Aurvana Live is half off ($50), both at their site and on amazon.

u/[deleted] · 8 pointsr/asmr

These are going to be the most comfortable cans you can get for less than $100, and have very good sound quality, as they are rebranded Denons. I can wear them for hours with no problem whatsoever.

u/Shike · 7 pointsr/headphones

noontec zoro

Philips Downtown

ATH-ES55

Creative Aurvana

Noontec is a newcomer that's made some really excellent phones with the Zoro and is definitely worth a look.

The Cityscape are decent sounding lifestyle headphones which look understated.

The ATH-ES55 is standard Audio-Technica affair, good construction quality all around with good sound.

The Creative's are actually rebadged Foster/Fostex headphones (they were used in Denon's D1001(?) if I remember correctly)

All of these are relatively good, but there's definitely a LOT out there.

u/Pnume · 7 pointsr/headphones

If you ask me, laptop speakers are never fine.

If you're willing to spend no more than $100, consider the CAL! They don't require an amp and handle rap well.

According to many, you can't do much better in the sub-$100 category.

u/faster3200 · 7 pointsr/gaming

First, let me say this: all headphones are surround sound. You only have two places that you can hear from and headphones literally surround them. Surround sound (5.1, 7.1, etc.) in speakers is nice since in order to hear from all directions without getting too technical you need speakers around you. If you see 5.1 or 7.1 headphones, that means they just stuffed a ton of low quality drivers into their phones and is a good sign they are nothing but marketing and that you should avoid them.

Also, if you see a headset that is usb that means it uses it's own sound card essentially, which may be good or bad for you depending on your setup.

For gaming specifically you want headphones with a good sound-stage. There is no gaming headset on the market that compares to getting some good phones plus mic. Sony MDR-V6 and Creative Aurvana Live (rebadged Denon AH-D1001) are a decent choices for your price range. You can always get a desktop mic, a clip-on mic, or better yet find a Labtec LVA-7330 on ebay and do some simple modding and you have yourself a headset with removable mic.

My pleasure!

Depending on your preferences and how flexible your budget is, you could use these peripherals:

And then snag [this deal] (https://www.buysonic.com/products/nvx-audio-xpt100/) on some [NVX XPT100s] (http://www.head-fi.org/t/624729/review-nvx-xpt100-a-direct-brainwavz-hm5-competitor). That'd come out around $275. If you'd like to shave off a bit, the keyboard could be replaced with an alternative with either [Kailh Blues] (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-keyboard-kbpzxklblus01) or [ALPS Blues] (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-keyboard-rk6000) both of which are also clicky switches, but which have a different feel (particularly the ALPS).

Now, that said, the XPT100, while very well regarded is a warm (slightly bassy) but generally neutral headphone. If you want something with more bass emphasis, [Creative's Aurvana Live!] (http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA) [would be an excellent choice] (http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/creative-aurvana-live-classic-reincarnate-page-2) and slightly cheaper to boot. I have their bigger brother, the CAL! 2, and they're quite fun headphones. Not ideal for detailed analysis of Vivaldi, but great for some EDM.
u/TrueDiligence · 6 pointsr/buildapcsales

Tascam TH-02 - $26

Creative Aurvana L!ve - $56

Sony MDR-V6 - $67

These are all solid options to consider. The Creative and Sony options are definitely better than the Tascam, but I included it in case the others are out of reach. The Creative Aurvana L!ve are more bass heavy, while the Sony's are more treble heavy.

u/_fortune · 5 pointsr/hardware

Depending on your intended use, I'd suggest the CAL!, Sony MDR-V6, or Audio Technica ATH AD700 with a Zalman clip-on mic.

With any of these headphones plus the mic, you will get much higher sound quality than any headset in the price range.

u/Kittakatkara · 5 pointsr/headphones

Well the Sims headset costs twice as much as the Sennheiser. Just because of the name Sennheiser doesn't mean it's better, especially at that low of a price. The Sims headset is probably tuned more for a bassy mainstream response anyways. My recommendation at a budget price point is the CAL found here Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zB9YDb3CZ8ZKF

u/OverExclamated · 5 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

Either the CAL! or CB-1 are probably your best bets in your price range.

u/xXzeroftwzeroXx · 5 pointsr/headphones

I had a wonderful Redditor recommend the 558's over the CALs when I was searching for advice. My budget is around $100-$140 and I'll be using the headphones with the neewer mic the play LoL and talk on Team speak. I just wanted other opinions to confirm that the 558's are definitely worth the premium price over the CALs and that they would be good for my needs. Thanks!

u/MisinformationALLDAY · 4 pointsr/headphones

What on earth is emo hip hop.

Anyway check out the Creative Aurvana Live

u/funwok · 4 pointsr/gaming

Depends on some things.
Do you want virtual 7.1 simulation/EAX support? If yes, a standard Xonar DS soundcard for around 30-40USD will suffice. That will help with some of the more expensive headphones too, which will need a bit of extra power to drive.

Pretty much every gaming headset uses rather cheap mics and so can we. All voip comm will get heavily compressed, be it with TS, skype or ingame voice, so you really don't need a high quality mic for gaming. Many gamers are using a Zalman mic for around 10USD, but any cheap, sturdy clip on mic will do.

This left us with around ~150USD for a good headphone. There are plenty of alternatives in the <150USD range, I can give you a couple of often recommended options.

The favorite right now in hi-fi circles is the ATH-m50 at around 130USD.

A very comfortable pair are the AKG K271MKII at the same price level.

To complete the our maxing out the budget trio we have the Ultrasone HFI-780.

All three have superior drivers with very good sound characteristics, very decent isolation and are fun enough to listen to for gaming, music and movies.

But we don't really have to max out the budget to get superior sound quality. There are some very decent headphones under 100USD too, which can more than compete with any high budget gaming headset.

Some examples: Sony MDRZX700
Creative Aurvana Live, especially for Europeans where the price is better
similar famous like the ATH-M50 are the ATH-AD700. It's a open headphone though, so gone is any decent isolation in exchange for a better soundstage.

I could go on for a bit, but those mentioned above are pretty well known and tested with the hi-fi community. You should find plenty of reviews and user experience for them. While some of them are a bit more analytical than most users are used to, they are all pretty fun and warm and not so boring like traditional studio monitors.

Even if we look at the lower budget gaming headsets <100USD, many without any 7.1 simulation, we can find plenty of better sound headphones, especially if we don't need a soundcard.

Get these:

https://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520100649&sr=8-1&keywords=creative+aurvana+live

Creative Aurvana Live are well known in the headphone community (check out headfi.) Super light weight, super comfortable, and awesome sound (better than Rift, which I agree are quite good) with decent bass. A total steal at $55. I used to have a ton of headphones and these are all I use now.

EDIT: thafred is right: Stay far, FAR away from anything labeled "gaming headphones." That's just branding and they're usually inferior to better, lesser known cans.

u/Vagrantwalrus · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Creative Aurvana Live

amazing sound quality, and really inexpensive, but the build quality is a little weak. I haven't damaged them in any way, but I feel like it wouldn't be hard to if you're careless.

u/nathris · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Absolutely. If you must get a gaming headset then go with a Razer Carcharias, but you'd be better off keeping your mic and better headphones, eg

u/Immiscible · 3 pointsr/headphones

Good god, if he's sensitive to pressure then the HD-280s are a poor choice, they have a nearly unrivaled clamping force.

I recommend the Creative Aurvana Live. They're a solid pair of headphones that are quite comfortable while providing high-quality sound. They're great for a college kid, in my opinion.

u/IDANUB · 3 pointsr/hcfactions

dont buy a gaming headset, the sound quality is very bad compared to regular headphones of the same price. most of the cost of a gaming headset is because of marketing and theyre based on regular headphones that are half the price.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/187-8453074-2645439

theres an example of headphones that are good for the price, but they come without the microphone attached

http://www.modmic.com/collections/frontpage

and then you can just attach a mod mic and you have the sound quality of a $200-300 headset with $100

but if you just want a gaming headset the hyperx cloud is the best, not the best option imo though

edit: forgot to mention the padding is usually less comfortable on gaming headsets as well

http://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-ATH-T400-Closed-Back-Dynamic-Headphones/dp/B004RO3V7O#

those are good too for the price, possibly better but ive never used them so i couldnt say

u/Arm-the-homeless · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

AKG K612 Pro + a headphone amp (necessary) if you can afford that much. They're open headphones but for the money I don't think you'll find a better soundstage for gaming.

For something closer to this price range, the Creative Aurvana Live is supposed to be quite good.

u/IHasIcing · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Sennheiser HD558 is just outside of your upper bracket by $2.99 on Amazon right now. I've never heard them, but having heard the HD598 recently, the HD558 should be a great candidate for you. The only downside would be these are open-back headphones, so they will leak a bit of sound and you can hear everything as if you don't have a headphone on at all.

For a closed-back headphone at that price range, lots of people recommends Creative Aurvana Live!, Sony MDR-V6, and Jaycar Pro Monitor Headphones (which is the same as this but less expensive). If you're into modding stuff, Fostex T50RP is considered one of the best headphone for modding and there's plenty of documentation online. Granted it is a tad over your upper bracket as well, thank the modders for that :D

So I put this on yesterdays thread, but it was late at night so I'm unsure if it was seen at all. sorry if it was and just no one had any suggestions, ill put it here one more time.

I know its a lot, so please bear with me and I'm sorry for the wall of text. I have an idea of what I want, but first what im looking for in a headset;

Budget - 100 is my limit unless theyre REALLY good for my specific needs.

Source - LG phone, MP3 player, Desktop Computer, Laptop

Isolation - Preferably yes, if it can block out most things id be happy. I plan to use them at home, and if i can on the bus, public, but not much or nothing extreme like working out or running. My house however has a lot of sounds going on around it.

Preferred type of headphone - Full size, but I'm ok if they aren't, i am however looking for one with a mic or where i can attach a mic. If it doesn't have one well ill just need to find a mic as well.

Tonal balance - Honestly, I don't know, I love bass, but sometimes in certain things bass is too much and prefer balance or where i can hear all instruments.

Past Headphones - Philips SHE3590BK/10 (15 dollar), Creative Fatal1ty(got em when I just didn't care but now I do)

Music type - I like any kind, ranging from Rap, Metal, alternative, Pop, Dubstep, Trap, grunge, electric to Classical, smooth jazz, Big Band, Instrumental, Orchestral, Swing, Ska. I dont discriminate. But I do like listening to every instrument in a song, and i love a good bass.

Location just in case: Cali.

Prefer not to buy a AMP/Dac, at the moment money is tight.

I need headphones that are good for gaming/listening to the music i posted/movies, action, thrillers, horror, etc.
I know its a lot so its hard to pinpoint a tone as well as me being very inexperienced in Audio.

I also wear glasses, so some may not be too good for me and I might use them for long sessions.

Based on links provided by this sub and my own research here are some I've been looking at and have my interest with reasons as to why(based on just reviews and that guide and personal):

u/Hifimanz · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

the 780's I believe, those are low-grade, comparable to the turtle beaches. If your looking for the best sub 100.00 cans for music, games, and video get http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1346741568&sr=1-1&keywords=creative+aurvana+live. You would have to buy a desktop mic or antlion modmic though. I use to use samson go-mic for desk mic and it was great... small compact and filtered out sound.

u/fuckflyingpigs · 2 pointsr/headphones

Is there a massive difference between the Audio-Technica ATH-M30x and the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x? I'm looking for $50 headphones, but if the M30x is worth an extra $20 I can still buy it. I'm currently using these.
Edit: I found the Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones on Amazon for $60. I've heard amazing things about those.

u/XacTactX · 2 pointsr/headphones

Looking at the measurements for your headphones, the bass is rolled off and not well extended, the 300 hz square wave is noisy while still being in phase, the impulse response is noisy, and distortion levels are fairly high.

http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SennheiserHD201.pdf

If you want a dramatic upgrade in the $50 range the Creative Aurvana is a good choice. It'll give you a good taste of what's possible, and if you don't think it's worth it you can return it for a small fee.

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452316702&sr=8-1&keywords=creative+aurvana+live

u/Kerry56 · 2 pointsr/headphones

The next step up for a warm toned headphone would be the original Creative Aurvana Live!.

The CAL! has some great qualities, very engaging sound, good sound stage for a closed back headphone and they are very light, though not as light as Porta Pro's. There are three downsides to the CAL!: 1: They are not built robustly, so you need to take care of them, they won't take abuse. 2: The pads are on the small side, so you might not be able to fit your ears inside them. On the other hand the pads are very soft and most still find them very comfortable. 3: They don't offer much isolation from outside noise. but you won't bother others with your music, they don't leak the other direction much at all.

Next up the ladder for a warm headphone would probably be the Sony MDR-1A, but its hard to find good prices for them in the US.

u/ColossalKiwi · 2 pointsr/headphones

The HM5 would sound rather boring with $UICIDEBOY$ and Kendrick. They also sound kinda sterile and hollow in general. Not a fan.

I'd recommend the Creative Aurvana Live! - PB Tech used to have them online for $90 NZD, but they've been out of stock lately. Check in with your local store and see if they have 'em, though. For a closed-back headphone, especially portable, you just can't beat 'em. They're a nice all-rounder, but they also pack some nice subbass rumble and midbass punch for rap/trap.

Isolation isn't the best for a closed-back headphone, but it's good enough in my opinion. The build quality isn't exactly the best, though - don't roughly throw them into your backpack or anything. They won't break if you treat 'em right.

If you can't get them via PB Tech, then here's a couple of links via Amazon. They both ship to NZ - just get whichever one works out cheaper. Also, ignore the Creative Aurvana Live 2 - it's an entirely different headphone and the general consensus is that it sounds worse than the original CAL!

Edit Ah crap, looks like they don't have it in stock in any of the stores anymore.

u/tPRoC · 2 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

is your budget flexible at all?

if you can stretch $10 get these. build quality unparalleled for sub $100. quality sound, signature is poor man's Beyerdynamic DT 770. mic is detachable.

these are also good and closer to your budget, but the build quality is not as nice and they are not as comfortable. sound signature is analogous to a Th-x00

u/ColoradoResidENT · 2 pointsr/headphones

The CAL! sound great and are a highly recommended set in your price range. Sennheiser is good but their open backs are more of their strong suit.

u/MrEleventy · 2 pointsr/headphones

Creative Aurvana Live New is outside of your budget but there's some used (Like New) on Amazon that's pretty close to $50. They say over-ear but it might be on-ear if you have large ears.

Panasonic HTF600 Warm and bassy. Price has been high on these for some reason. I bought these over the summer for under $30. Still a good buy at $40.

Monoprice 8032 All about the mids, decent bass. Headband got uncomfortable after extended use. Might need to invest in a headband like this

yeah, the creative aurvana lives! are worlds apart from the hd 202's. I'd say they are nearly as good as my ATH M50's but for nearly 80 dollars less. Great buy. I'm sure you'll be satisfied coming from HD 202's.

u/Zilpzalp · 2 pointsr/headphones

Hi, I'm looking for comfortable wireless headphones and the purchase assistant only suggests one pair of headphones that fit my needs, and I can't find those anywhere in my country. Maybe some of you can help me with suggestions.

  • Purpose: I want comfortable headphones that I can use for gaming and for listening to music/podcasts for hours on end. I value comfort over anything else.
  • Budget: I'd like to stay within ~60€ (Germany) if at all possible, but I can go up to 100€ if I don't have any cheaper, half-decent alternatives. If literally nothing broadly fits my criteria then non-bluetooth headsets for up to ~60 would be fine as well.
  • Source: PC and phone (both capable of bluetooth and have a regular headphone jack)
  • Requirements for Isolation: None. I'll mostly listen at home, and when in public I don't mind ambient noise.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public?: Regularly, but only in short bursts (therefore not of importance to me).
  • Preferred Type of Headphone: Anything but in-ear.
  • Past headphones Creative Aurvana Live!, imo very crisp, clear and vibrant sound quality at a cheap price, but the usability was horrible. Comfortable at first, they start putting noticable pressure on the edges of my ears after 30 minutes. An hour into playing games/listening to music and I subconsciously start taking them off. Together with daily annoyances caused by its short cable, I just want decent-enough wireless headphones that are very comfortable to wear for longer periods now.
  • Preferred tonal balance: I don't know. Something that gets the job done for games, music and podcasts, I suppose.
  • Preferred Music: Bass-heavy house music, mostly, but also some rap and metal.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up: DEFINITELY more comfort. Over the past ~2 years I realized that there's not much point to having really nice headphones if you never want to use them because they hurt after a short while. I barely even use my current headphones to listen to stuff, I just use my speakers when I'm at home.
If there's literally no decent, comfortable headphones with wireless capability available in that price region then I'm willing to look at regular headphones too, just tell me if you thik that that's the case.
  • Location: Germany. This site is really great to scan the German market: https://skinflint.co.uk/. Please be aware that this page shows you offers from UK by default. Please change that to Germany to check the German shops!
u/xPurplexAnarchyx · 2 pointsr/headphones

I suggest either the Monoprice 8323 or the [Creative Aurvana Live] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/) although I highly suggest the latter even though it's slightly out of your price range.

u/Zerasad · 2 pointsr/headphones

Budget - <$80

Source - my desktop computer

Isolation - Not really necessary

Will you be using these headphones in public? - Very rarely if ever

Preferred type of headphone? - full-size.

Preferred tonal balance? - Bassier

Past headphones - Planatronics Gamecom 388

Preferred Music - Electronic music mostly. Trap, dubstep, drum and bass

What would you like to improve on from your set up? - Old ones are dying and want to replace them and spend a bit more. I'd prefer one with a mic but it seems that the ones without are better quality. Looking at these at the moment.

u/cgakdr · 2 pointsr/headphones

Budget - $80-$100 total

Source - PC and Moto X

Isolation - Semi-open at worst, closed preferable.

Type - IEM and over

Balance - Flat or slightly bassy, not V

Past - Meelec A151 and Klipsh S4-II

Music - Variety of techno

When the A151s broke, I ordered the S4s and a new jack. Was pleased when jack worked and hated Klipsh's flat cable. Now the jack is broken again and I'm looking for new buds. I'm reposting from yesterday in an attempt to get more opinions.

I've been looking around this sub, and I've whittled my list down to these, with durability being the advice I'm searching for:

IEMs:

  • Meelec A151 - Great sound, pretty durable, but bad plug joint. Strongly considering.
  • Meelec M6 - Said to be extremely durable, but I'm worried about getting lo-fi sportbuds sound.
  • Monoprice 8320 - Heard they sounded great for the price, but it's the price and the gimmicky chrome plastic that has me worried.

    Cans:

  • Creative Aurvana Live! - Read that they're weak as paper, and a bit pricey for me.
  • Monoprice 8323 - Numerous reports of the headband cracking and losing one side of sound.
  • Sony V6 - VERY pricey, but I found a comment thread complimenting them, hence their inclusion.
  • Superlux HD668B - Supposedly better quality than the 681(Evo)s, and a dollar cheaper. Maybe.
  • Superlux HD 681 Very well sounding for the price range, but also very leaky.
  • Superlux HD-681 Evo - Highly rated and look to be awesome, strongly considering.

Again, I'm looking for price, but durability is currently more important.

A few months ago I was looking for some good cheap headphones for gaming, and after looking through guides from audiophile forums and /r/audiophile, I ended up with these. Can't recommend them enough, especially for $72.

u/Riven-Bot · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I highly discourage you not to get the Plantronics GameCom 780. I had them for about 6 months before the wiring inside just fell apart, microphone stopped working and sound in only worked in one ear. My girlfriend bought this headset at the same time I did and hers stopped working a month or two later. As a general tip, don't ever buy a gaming headset unless you find it for very cheap. It is much cheaper and you will always get better quality sound by purchasing headphones and a microphone separately. For the price you're spending on that headset I recommend these:

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=pd_bxgy_e_text_y

After installing the Razer Surround program, any headphones will be 7.1 if you like the virtual surround. Please do not fall victim to gaming headsets, especially the Plantronics 780!

I got the CAL off Amazon less than a year ago, and they're working fantastically, but the hinge right above the cup snapped on me today. They're held together with wishes and tape right now, but is there a way to replace the headband altogether?

Budget - $100, flexible

Source - My Computer

Requirements for Isolation - I'll just be using these at home.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full Sized

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced is best, I think.

Past headphones - Just the stock apple earbuds.

Preferred Music - Everything, really.

I was looking for a new pair of gaming/general use headphones and I found these, and they seem to suit my needs perfectly while staying within my budget ($100<), but I would like to customize them with a little bit of blue accents, but I don't know where to start with that. Should I use spray paint, or is it even possible to paint these without ruining the finish? I'm totally lost, any and all help is appreciated.

I recently got these CAL headphones because they have decent base and soundstage for gaming.

So I'm about to make my first serious headphone purchase (only previously used <$20 earbuds) and I am deciding between Audio-Technica ATH-M30x and [Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones] (http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA). At this point, I could go either way. My main question is about the comfort level of the headphones on your ears. So I was wondering if anyone had previous experiences with either of these sets of headphones which was positive or negative. I would appreciate the input!

Budget: $60-$70 max.

Source: iPad 3 and laptop (for gaming)

Requirements for Isolation: I will be using this at home and in public transportation. The headphones do not need to be portable.

Preferred Type of Headphone: full-sized over ear

Preferred Tonal Balance: neutral or not genre-specific

Past Headphones: Apple Earpods

Preferred Music: Varied. (Ex. Doctor Who, Macklemore, B.o.B., C418)

Other Uses: I will be using this for playing multiplayer video games (Minecraft) on my laptop often. I will probably use this as a microphone.

I have looked around on Amazon and found some headphones I am leaning towards.:

I'm currently looking at headphones under $100. The two I'm looking at the most are the Creative Aurvana Live Headphones or the SteelSeries Siberia V2 "Gaming" Headset (CS:GO edition because cheaper).

  • Budget: Around 60 CAD (flexible, but no more than 100).
  • Source: The 3.5mm jack on my computer.
  • Requirements for Isolation: Good passive sound isolation is important. I like to have my window open in my room and I live on a somewhat busy street; I don't like the idea of increasing the volume just to hear what someone in a video is saying. In my experience, active sound isolation is too big of a compromise on sound quality, especially at this price point (but feel free to prove me wrong).
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public?: No, desktop use only.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone: Full-sized, circumaural (over-ear) for passive sound isolation.
  • Preferred tonal balance: I actually don't really mind, but for my usage, a V shape would work well.
  • Past headphones: I've had a pair of Shure SE-M390s for like eight years. I remember getting them for 45 bucks. The earcup on one side broke, so I fixed it by drilling a long screw into the plastic... and then the other earcup broke, so it was the end of these phones. Good times. They got uncomfortable after a while but otherwise they did their job perfectly. Since then I've been using these bad boys which my employer gave away at the end of an internship (they would've thrown them away for sanitary reasons). Sound "quality" is garbage and their on-ear design means they don't block out outside sounds at all. I'd like to keep them just for video calls (e.g. Skype) and replace them with something a little less crappy.
  • Preferred Music: I know I really can't get picky with my budget, and honestly, I'll mostly be watching YouTube videos, so... I feel it would be kind of pointless to point to one song in particular. When I have more income, I'll get a $200-300 pair to actually enjoy uncompressed music with; only then will I worry about sound signatures and the like.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up: See "Past headphones". I need a relatively cheap pair with good passive sound isolation, good comfort and great value overall in areas other than outright sound quality.

I might end up getting something like these. Any thoughts on them, or something better to recommend?

EDIT: I just noticed the section for budget headphones! These look like they would fit the bill... Would they suit my needs?
EDIT 2: ...or these. Ugh, too many choices! Any recommendations?

They both suck to be honest. SHP9500 has no bass and will not be good for watching movies. Buy a CAL instead.

What do you think about it? Can you recomand other options? I'd like over or on ear headphones, but in ear are Ok too.
P.S. I'll use the headphones for listening to music on phone, outside, and computer integrated soundcard.

Budget: maximum budget is 75$, but would rather not go over 60$

Source: PC, rarely cellphone. No amps.

Requirements for Isolation: High-medium isolation, I live with other people and will mainly use it in my room behind a closed door

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - No. Won't carry it anywhere probably

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full-sized is preferred but not required, can also go on-ear.

Preferred tonal balance - Probably overall balanced although I am a bit of a basshead, esp with my music choices.

Past headphones - I had a Razer Electra and Kraken (not my choices, both were gifts) thing that bothered me most was their durability, both broke very very quickly (around a year) nothing special about those headsets that I liked over others.

Preferred Music - Hip-Hop, trap, vaporwave/vaporchill. Noise and industrial sometimes.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Survivability and durability are the main thing, I am looking to get a lot of mileage from my headset for my money.

These are the best headsets I can find/think of for my budget, recommendations or reviews of my picks or recommendations for different pairs of headsets are very much welcomed.

Creative Aurvana Live! (CAL)

u/zonq · 1 pointr/headphones

Trying again, since yesterday no one could help me :)

I kind of feel like spending some money on me which I didn't do in a a while and I feel I listen to so much music, it'd be worth to upgrade here :) (also feel like I have the most potential here).

My current setup is the following, and basically I'm looking for the best upgrade for my buck:

  • On-board sound on my pc
  • EDIFIER C2X 2.1
  • Sometimes I plug in the headphones, especially during the later time of the day: Creative Aurvana Live

Budget - Optimally I'd like to spend around 100 EUR, my hard limit would be 150 EUR. No idea if there's an upgrade within that budget that's worth it.

Source - My setup is described above. The question is, would I profit more from a DAC/AMP, new headphones? Or nothing for that money?

Requirements for Isolation - as described above, primarily at home, sometimes someone watches YouTube on a phone/tablet, but generally isolation is a secondary factor

Preferred Type of Headphone - Well, since I'm looking for something for the PC, I'd like some full-size.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced, since I listen to all kinds of stuff on my PC (see further down)

Past headphones - Currently on the PC I use the 2.1 linked above and if I use headphones it's the Aurvana Live. I like about them price and that I feel that I get a good value for what I've paid. The headphones are also light so it's not tiring to wear them.

Preferred Music - I listen to all kinds of music, primarily electronic music, but not necessarily bass heavy. Throw in some classic music, some OSTs and some Hiphop here and there, and you know what I listen to. Other than that I play video games, but nothing with a special requirement. I also watch series/movies on the PC with DTS. I'd say that means it should be rather all round than bass-heavy or something.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - This is the question. Basically I want to improve my setup without spending like 500 EUR, if there's anything I can do. There's the FiiO E10k that my search lead me to a couple of times that's like 83 EUR, so within my budget. My question is, would I even notice a difference with my cheap Aurvanas? Could I put the DAC/AMP before the 2.1 and would hear a difference? If yes, is it okay to put the headphones in the 2.1 amp and it would still make a difference? Although the FiiO 10k has an output for the speakers and one for the headphones. As you can see, I'm lost and maybe it's not even worth to upgrade anything. Somehow I think I should invest more than 50 EUR in headphones and 90 EUR in a 2.1, if I listen to so much stuff all day.

Location - Germany, preferred place to buy obviously amazon.de or you can check price comparisons on geizhals.eu

Thanks a lot for your help and enlightenment :)

So I'm looking at a few pairs to upgrade over my current $5 Panasonic IEM's:

  • Shure SRH240A
  • Koss ProDJ100
  • Creative Aurvana Live!

Main purpose is to be used at school with my Surface 3 or iPod Classic. Need it to drown out the outside noise as well as possible without sacrificing sound quality or comfort (yeah, picky, I know). As far as the actual sound goes, I don't want bass boosted or anything like that. I just want the bass to be accurate, and I want the highs to be bright and detailed.

Anyone have any thoughts on the pairs I'm looking at? Or any suggestions for something else in the same price range? Thanks for any help!

I got Sennheiser HD 201 for a couple of years now, they cost ~22 USD.

But I can't tell you if you like the sound and feel. Some like open headphone, some like them closed design. The HD 201 are open and have a very clear sound.

Edit: Or Sennheise HD 202

Edit: For a little bit more the Creative Aurvana Live! should be really good. Amazon

u/AndCockGoesTheGun · 1 pointr/headphones

Creative Aurvana Live! as your cheapest option, currently $45 at Amazon. A great budget basshead set of cans: bass is very, very strong, but the rest of the ranges are pretty nice, although the mid-range is slightly recessed.

At the height of your budget is the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro. They're known for having a fantastic bass response, and are recommended a lot in this sub. Similar properties to the Aurvana Live: bass is just great, midrange is recessed a bit, highs are clear. They're also very comfortable.

Make sure to get the 32 Ohm or 80 Ohm version (that I linked), and not a version with a higher impedance: the more Ohms the impedance is, the tougher it'll be to drive. The 250 Ohm version would require an external amplifier.

u/chrismv48 · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - $80 - $120

Source - PC/Android

Isolation - I live in NYC, so isolation is important

Preferred type - Over ear

Preferred tonal - I like bass but not at the expense of drowning out the other ranges

Past headphones - Mostly cheap earbuds and a pair of Sennheiser HD 202 II's which I find to be just okay. They also get pretty warm on the ears.

Preferred music - Hip Hop and electronic with some indie pop mixed in.

The headphones I'm most considering are:

Audio-Technica ATH-M40x

V-MODA Crossfade M-80

Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones

u/NinjaBlob · 1 pointr/headphones

Posting again to see if I can get any more opinions:

Budget - soft $100, hard $150

Source - Phone and PC

Requirements for Isolation - I'll mostly be using them in public places (bus, college lounges, work), so more is better.

Preferred Type of Headphone - over-ear

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced overall, but with strong melody ranges and bass? So warm to neutral, probably? (I'm new at this)

Past headphones - Sennheiser HD 280 and 439. Liked the sound of the 439 a lot (particularly with pop and EDM), but not a huge fan of the felt-like padding or the plasticky build (though it was sturdy).

Preferred Music - Hugely varied, but currently leaning towards pop/dance, EDM, rock, and indie rock/pop. Recent playlists include Monsters & Men, Zedd, Flo Rida, Little Mix, Green Day, Owl City, and the Jackson 5.

Since last time, I think I've narrowed it down to Audio-Technica ATH-M40x, Creative Aurvana Live, Brainwavz HM5, and NVX XPT100, but I'm open to anything. I thought I had settled on the HM5s, but then I found XPT100s are the same thing (with different pads/headband) for $50 less, and a number of reviews (see here) ranked the M40x above either (due to poor fit), so now I'm unsure again.

u/papabrain · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey everyone, I posted late yesterday but figured I might have more responses if I posted earlier today. Thanks for hearing me out again.

  • Location: France

  • Budget: "Entry Level" 75-150€

  • Source: Laptop & mp3 player (Zune)

  • Isolation: Closed, over-ear headphones.

I don't intend to travel with these headphones, but I'd like to be able to wear them in a library without bothering others, and shut out the noise of a busy cafe, if possible.

  • Preferred Type of Headphone: Full-sized

  • Preferred tonal balance: I'm guessing Neutral.

My "Preferred Music" might suggest otherwise, I'm not sure. I understand the mechanics behind what dark/warm, V-shaped, and Neutral sound means, but I don't know the differences in sound.

In my recent reading, I read that having it sound like the music is playing inside my head could be undesirable, but I've always enjoyed that effect (albeit with low-cost IEMs).

That said, I don't even know what an "open soundstage" would sound like. If y'all think I should try something new... well, I am here for advice and I intend to hear ya out.

  • Past headphones: I'm a frequent buyer of 10-15€ IEM headphones.

  • Preferred Music: Pretty much everything. I don't listen to much Metal or Pop music. I have a lot of tinny old Blues recordings, so detail clarity is important.

  • Other Info: I have high-frequency hearing loss in my left ear.

  • Options: From the excel doc, FAQ, and the Head-Fi guide, I found these:

NVX XPT100, KRK KNS6400, and Sennheiser HD280. /u/faustarpfun also suggested the Creative Aurvana Live! headphones (listed in the excel doc as "semi-open" which makes me wonder about its isolation effects). All of these, if I understand correctly, should help me to avoid an amp, for now.

Let me know if I'm heading in the right direction, or if I done messed up somehow. Again, thanks to the people who contribute to this subreddit!

These headphones are fantastic for the price. They use an older Denon driver, and sound great. I bought a pair for a friend of mine as a christmas gift. He recently thanked me for ruining music for him, because he can only listen to music on these headphones now.

I took mine apart and re-cabled them with a thicker cable and it makes them a bit more warm, which I enjoy. ($25 mod)

u/Tothoro · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey there! I'm new here, looking for some suggestions. Based on the Wiki, I previously bought the Creative Aurvana Live I, but I'm looking to move a step up.
I've been looking into the Sennheiser HD line, but for the life of me I can't find any demos near where I live (Kansas City area) and nobody I know has them. I'm also not sure exactly which model in the line would be the best fit. I'm 100% open to suggestions that aren't in the Sennheiser HD line. Anywho, recommended template:

  • Budget: $300-ish

  • Source: 3.5mm jack (phone/laptop), would use Bluetooth if the headphones support it.

  • Requirements for Isolation: Moderate. I work in an office that gets noisy at times, and I'd like to be able to block that out.

  • Will you be using these headphones in public?: At work and at home; portability is not a large concern.

  • Preferred type of headphone: Over-ear > In ear. I really don't like on-ear models.

  • Preferred tonal balance: V-shaped or balanced; either is fine, but having at least decent bass is a must.

  • Past headphones: The Creative Aurvana Live I were my first non-cheapy headphones. They're passable, but I've noticed they have some noise leakage, don't isolate sound as much as I'd like, and don't really feel as full as I'd like.

  • Preferred music: A wide range, but mostly pop-punk (i.e. Blink-182, New Found Glory) and melodic hardcore (i.e. Misery Signals, Counterparts). I also listen to podcasts, but I'm not terribly concerned with balance on my podcasts.

  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up: More full-sounding, better noise isolation, less sound leakage.
u/Daimai · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey there! I was already set on the NVX XPT100 as they seemed really good, but I live in northern Europe and shipping costs a lot. Also, I will have to pay a 25% tax on the headphones when they arrive here, so I can't get my headphones because we need to have a welfare state.

Basically, I'm looking for a good alternative to the NVX XPT100 that I can buy in Sweden.

My friend suggested Creative Aurvana Live! Any opinions about them?

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

Budget - I'm willing to spend around $150.

Source - PC without a real soundcard and my Samsung Galaxy S4. Most of my music is 320 though I do enjoy the occasional flac album.

Requirements for Isolation - I want to use the headphones everythere, meaning commute, uni, at home gaming etc so I would prefer decent isolation.

Preferred Type of Headphone - I'd prefer fullsized, though I'm open to suggestions. My amateur and probably completely stupid opinion is that fullsized over-ear headphones give a "fuller" sound compared to IEMs.

Preferred tonal balance - I'd prefer the headphones to be balanced since this is my first real "audiophile" purchase.

Past headphones - Steelseries Siberia, my ears grew "tired" after wearing them for a while so to say. Otherwise I've just had random crappy IEMs.

Preferred Music - I listen mostly to different variations of rock and metal, with a lot of hip hop mixed in.

Headphones are complicated: different people like different types of heaphones. For example, these Creative Aurvana Live! are what I'd buy.

Ask /r/headphones for advice (read first their buying guide and gaming guide). Just don't forget that the motherboard's sound chip requires a headphone with an impedance under 75 ohms; unless you're going to use an amp.

For sound accuracy none of them are going to be particularly good.

If you don't care about the mic why not just get a normal pair of headphones instead of a headset?

You're honestly better off saving just a few more dollars and getting something like the ATH M30x's for $70. Or you could even get them for $53 through the Amazon warehouse deal.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HVLUQW8/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

You could also get the older version on eBay for around $45.

A few other options that come highly recommended for this price range.

Creative Aurvana live - $50 - https://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

Monoprice 8323 - $16 - https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8323

The monoprice headphones are surprisingly well regarded for the price although people have said they are not the most comfortable headphones.

u/mavvv · 1 pointr/headphones

I just bought some Audio Technica ATH-Pro500 MK2 fror $80 from BuyDig. I sidegraded from Creative Aurvana Live because my roommate broke them while drunk. Unfortunately, these headphones are incredibly uncomfortable. Is there like an NCIX.com version of headphones that sells high quality more cushiony pads for the pair I have? I'd really like to not have to return these, as I think I got them for a pretty good deal. If that is not the case, please let me know and I might just return them and continue my search!

Thanks!

They are hollow/tinny sounding. I would recommend buying these:

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

With this:

http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ

If you must get a headset, but the Steelseries Siberia V2:

http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Siberia-Full-Size-Gaming-Headset/dp/B003N636VI

The 1500 are pretty much terrible. They are comfy, sure, and maybe decently built, but do not offer an analog solution, you are permanently tethered to a PC to use them

Note:

If you have money to burn, get the AD700s:

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ (these are the X. If you can find a set of AD700 in stock they will either cost around 100 dollars new, or way more because they have become rare).

Headphones like the AKG701/612/q701 are in the same range of 'nothing can touch these in terms of l33t h4xx0r sound'.

Plus, better headphones work nicely for things other than gaming.

I highly, and strongly, recommend buying a good set of headphones that you will love and look forward to using all day long, over something disposable and boring.

u/brandon7s · 1 pointr/Guitar

An audio interface which an be a cheap $30 Behringer, BIAS or S-Gear - though I vastly prefer S-Gear but it doesn't have much in the vein of high gain options - and then I'd go with the Creative Aurvana Live for an inexpensive but very good sounding pair of headphones. I vastly prefer these to the Sony 7506s that are often recommended, though if you have above average ear size then you might want to go with something else, as the cups are a little small for some people.

u/danthezombieking · 1 pointr/headphones

CAL!s would be a good choice. Under fifty bucks and a generally likable bassy sound.

If you want to spend a little more go for the M50x, they go on sale for ~80 bucks all the time, just wait for one of those.

Both are closed back. If you want decent active noise cancelling you'll have to spend more.

u/lepracan · 1 pointr/headphones

I am looking for headphones to replace my Sennheiser HD 205. I picked them up on a whim when at Fry's, and they lasted 4 months of being permanently in my computer, and almost being babied; now there is a problem with the wire and I have to fiddle with it near where it connects to the headset. Before them I had a pair of N-Tune by Monster, on those the headband snapped from normal putting on and taking off.

I am looking to get headphones that are circum-aural, decent sound (not an audiophile; Skype, mumble, netflix, video games are key points for me.), and STURDY (I have a big head). Budget is <$75. I will not be using them while traveling, so portability is a non issue; using a computer. Isolation is a non issue my house is pretty quiet. A removable wire would be preferable, so if an issue like the one I am experiencing happens I might be able to just get a new wire and not have to get them repaired or replaced.

I am considering:
Creative Aurvana Live Headphones ($68) (Sort of worried about the swivel being a breaking point)

Superlux HD668B ($28) (From buying guide I am a bit worried about comfort in long sessions)

AKG K 240 ($70)

Monoprice 8323($34)

Any input on these, or others you have enjoyed would be appreciated (especially if you have a large head; My hat size is 7 3/4)

In the sticky from yesterday the K240s were recommended, and are my top consideration right now. For them I am now wondering what the wire type is, so I can buy a backup but that's a future concern.

Edit: Working to get them in a nicer looking format, for now bolded the required information.

I've been looking at headphones that meet these requirements, and the best ones seem to be NXG NX-HTDJ, 8323, Jaycar Pro Monitor, Sony MDRV6, and Creative Aurvana Live!. I'm prioritizing high isolation and high comfort over an extended period of time. Can anybody help me to identify the best purchase out of these?

Budget - ~$70-120 but willing to go up if really necessary

Source - For home use on my PC, for gaming and all genres of music.

Requirements for Isolation - I share a room and do not live alone. So I suppose the more isolation the better. If less isolation helps with quality while not disturbing isolation too much though, I'd entertain the thought.

Preferred Type of Headphone - I honestly don't care as long as the quality for what I want is good.

Preferred tonal balance - I honestly can't say. Whatever's balanced?

Past headphones - Sennheiser 201s and 202s, both did the job for me just fine.

Preferred Music - I honestly listen to a lot of different genres, and play a lot of games on my PC.

I was looking for good quality suggestions for headphones that shouldn't bother the people that live with me, and found these:

Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones

Sony MDRV6 Studio Monitor Headphones

KRK KNS6400 Studio Headphones

Any opinions? I'm also open to other suggestion of course, I'd appreciate any help given. Not having to buy an AMP would also be cool, but I'm willing to hear suggestions for buying.

At $45, you can get Philips Citiscape Downtown in purple, but the prices on black and grey are inflated because they're discontinued. If you don't mind the color, those would probably suit you pretty well.

If you do mind the color, then there's no sense in paying $20 over value for those. The buying guide recommends Creative Aurvana Live!, which seem very good for the price but I haven't personally tried.

u/Griffith · 1 pointr/Xiaomi

I remembered a different headphone within your budget which is quite good, the Creative Aurvana Live. Not the Creative Aurvana Live 2, get the first model, it is better sounding. It's one of those odd "I didn't expect this company inexperienced in headphones to make something this good" kind of product.

If you can't find a well-stocked hifi store in your area, you should read some online reviews.
Inspired by this thread I was browsing (head-fi)[http://www.head-fi.org/] yesterday and these were recommended there as very comfortable with great sound.

u/eudisld15 · 1 pointr/headphones

You'd still should post this in buy advice.

Anyways the Aurvana Live are a little above average (aka good sound for price) headphones that have the build durability of a $55 headphone (it'll break easily if youre rough)

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

$55 instead of 130 or however much your link was.

As for difference. Dunno, get a Hyper X CLOUD and call it a day.

u/Dat_one_guy · 1 pointr/headphones

What do you guys think about the Creative Aurvana Live! ?

More and more they seem to me to be the best price:quality ratio around, but I'm still uncertain and thus holding off on purchasing.

u/rhuspark · 1 pointr/headphones

Can't pick sound signature under $100. Get the best quality you can get for the price.

You are not going to beat CAL for $60.

It looks like a [worse sounding Creative Aurvana Live] (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/243448552313847808/382031510728867842/output.png). [CAL] (https://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/) is on Amazon right now for $55 and CB-1 usually sits at $80.

u/kare_kano · 1 pointr/headphones

You should really consider dropping the wireless requirement, since they don't need to be portable. You save money and gain quality.

Creative Aurvana Live! fit what you described.

Not sure what "some isolation" means. Open or closed cans? Open have much better spatial positioning, which would be good for FPS games, and better soundstage, which is good for music and gaming.

If open are ok too, AudioTechnica AD700X is $100, AKG K612Pro is $140 and Sennheiser HD598 SR is $150. Great for music, amazing for gaming.

u/snuflswasmyslavename · 1 pointr/headphones

NuForce HP-800 is the only one that takes the BoomPro/good at gaming/over-ear/in your budget, but it's not very balanced, it's a bassy headphone with recessed mids and treble.

If you're getting a separate mic then Creative Aurvana Live!.

Edit: added links to Amazon.

Budget - $60-140 I would like to stay low because I plan on getting a smaller pair for working out too, so don't really want to go higher than $150

Source - Mostly PSVita, sometimes my iPod

Requirements for Isolation - Not super important, a little bit since I'll be using them at home while others are watching TV

Preferred Tonal Balance - Good balance of sound, decent bass but not too much

Past headphones - Most headphones I've ever owned were Sony and Apple earbuds, they seemed to have good sound, but I'm sure it could get much better

Preferred Music - Metal, country, some hip hop. Also, like I said, some video game music through my Vita

I've been looking around for the weekend and found a couple that I've been interested in. Creative Aurvana These seem to get good reviews from people in the gaming and music departments and I'm very curious about. Other recommendations are welcome.

u/its_swift · 1 pointr/headphones
  • Budget - Less than $150
  • Source - Onboard audio of an m4a78t-e motherboard.
  • Requirements for Isolation - I don't want my mic to pick up what I'm hearing from my headphones, but I don't mind being able to hear outside noises.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - I don't want IEMs outside of that pretty open.
  • Preferred tonal balance - Balance. I'm not a big bass person.
  • Past headphones - Pair of turtle beach headphones that I got from my xbox. I didn't really like or dislike them all that much
  • Preferred Music - Alternative
  • I'm currently looking at the m50s and the cals. They both look like they suit my needs fine. Just trying to get some more input.
u/Streloks · 1 pointr/buildapc

/r/Headphones could help you out.

I'd seriously recommend buying the headphones and mic separately though, you would get a better deal that way. The CAL + A cheap clip on mic might work out well.

u/andrews013 · 1 pointr/headphones

Since you prefer bass heavy, I'll recommend the Creative Aurvana Live. It'll give you the bass you love, and add lots of detail.

u/Ojntoast · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

I know you said stretching would be tough, but in all honesty, Creative Aurvana Live sound like they'd work perfectly. $70 on Amazon. They punch well above their weight class. I don't imagine you'll upgrade for quite some time.

https://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Creative+Aurvana+Live&qid=1564890924&s=electronics&sr=1-2

u/Paul-Kersey · 1 pointr/headphones

maybe consider Creative Aurvana Live ... sorry, I don't have any experience with wireless headphones so can't comment on those

u/Terryfrankkratos2 · 1 pointr/headphones

Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones sound great for you, They have Bassy V shaped sound so they should be good for electronic music, Their requirement for an amp is minimal so it should drive off your phone fine and due to being closed headphones they should isolate sound relatively well.

u/sharrken · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Its decent, but its Razer. Their stuff looks good, performs ok, but generally is not what you would call durable. I would go with the Creative Aurvana Live! and the Zalman mic, they are very well reviewed. A modmic would allow you to add a proper boom mic. At the end of the day, its up to you, but I would really suggest giving the head fi link at least a quick flick through.

u/Markyy88 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I got a few headphones here.

Takstar Pro80 at 150

HD Two from Status

CB-1 from Status

Creative Aurvana Live + new pads around 75 dollars

Pads for the Aurvana live here Any HM5 pads will also fit from what I have been told.

Brainwavz HM5 headphones

DT 770

In this thread already someone mentioned M50x from ATH. Avoid these. Low quality compared to other headphones on the market. I personally used them, I have a very large head and ears, very small for me. Extremely small actually. Also they have terrible audio positioning for games.

  • Takstar Pro 80: These have a neutral sound from my understanding.

  • HD two from Status: These I am personally buying in a few days. They have a neutral sound with a laid back mids.

  • CB-1 are a slight more bass with one of the best pads there are. So comfy

  • Creative Aurvana Live are neutral but small pads before you replace them. HM5 pads have 3 inch thick pads for your ears. Again make sure these fit.

  • Brainwavz HM5 headphones: Neutral, huge pads and really comfy.

  • DT 770: A deep, rich bass but not over whelming.

I would hold off on buying the FK. If the FK1 is too big then wait for the FK2 which should be smaller whenever it comes out.

Do yourself a favor and invest more into your headset. Music is a wonderful thing and you'll be amazed at how often you will rediscover new components to your favorite songs. You really do hear things that you've never quite noticed before. As a headset my highest recommendation goes to Audio Technica's ATH-ADG1. If $100 is your maximum, I would go for either of these:

Westone UM Pro10
Shure SE215-K
*Creative Aurvana Live

The last being my last resort for you. Good luck.

u/L7ryAGheFF · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

$100 is pretty cheap as far as headphones go. However, there are a lot better options than the Sennheiser HD 280 in the sub-$100 price range. For example, Creative Aurvana Live.

u/boomstack · 1 pointr/headphones

You arent going to get many people to recommend those headphones over REAL headphones, even at $60. For that budget, I would go with the CAL and the zalman clip-on mic.

The sidebar has a link to gaming headphones reviewed. Most gaming headphones score poorly. If you are dead set on a headset(mic+headphone) I would say get some Logitechs for $20-30 and save money until you can afford nice ones.

u/DeusAlkaiser · 1 pointr/buildapc

I am using creative aurvana live headphones i used to use fine for years and never sound low. ( i also tried swapping for new in box one i had saved with same problems )

https://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA

With my old asus xonar d2x they never sound this low.

I did fresh windows install and installed chipset drivers/sata drivers/latest drivers under website support page with correct windows 10 64 bit listed. I continue to have low sound. My cousin has an asus rog hero IX and hi sound and his neighbor is not low like mine with same settings.

these are my current settings:

Really cheap yet great: koss ksc75. I used these since the ps3 days and they are some of the most comfortable headphones I've used (they rest on your ear basically). Oh, and for the price, they sound amazing.

Or you can go with the creative aurvana live headphones, those were my daily cans until recently, and as a big headed individual who also wears glasses, they are great. But as for any headphones, it's subjective.

u/wheetato · 1 pointr/headphones

If you're willing to stretch your budget a bit to $72 or just wait for these to be cheaper, the Creative Aurvana Live! are very good.

you dont need a 'mini subwoofer'

buy bassy headphones.

those are where id look in the $50 range.

u/10GuyIsDrunk · -1 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Here, I'd recommend these if you're not willing to breach $100.

EDIT: Also I haven't used them, but these come highly recommended in the price range (that's six links, not one). Though they are closed so keep that in mind.
