"Starting" at $4999. Jeez.

Unless you REALLY wanted an all-in-one or an Apple-branded computer (which there is no reason for) with "retina" display, you could probably build a similar or even more powerful Hackintosh for a few thousand less.

Let's see...

5k Monitor: Around $1000. http://windowsreport.com/5k-monitor-windows-10/

8-core 16-thread Xeon: Almost $700 for a higher-end one. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117479

Radeon Vega: No concrete price yet, but assuming they'll similarly priced to their GTX counterparts, around $700 (1080 Ti) as well.

Crucial 32GB ECC: About $250. https://www.amazon.com/32GB-DDR4-Memory-2133-CT32G4LFQ4213/dp/B00MTSXLNO

1TB SSD: Samsung 850 EVO for about $350.

Motherboard with 10Gb Ethernet (and supports ECC, for the Xeon, etc.): Around $300. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132518&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Get a nice case and PSU for a generous $200.

Borrow a Mac for the OS, or buy an optical drive and for max $50.

That totals up to about $3500, add $50-100 more if you need an optical drive and the OS disc, and you get a Hackintosh that will probably beat an "entry level" Mac Pro (at a "starting price" of $5000). I chose higher end Xeon, GTX, etc. to show you can get a better PC for less.

Edit: Throw in a few hundred dollars for an iPod, so you can get the Apple stickers and stick them on. Still less :P
