I have the same controller, same issues. I ordered this and it came with the tools needed. It's super easy to fix yourself.

I used this bumper set to fix mine. Looks like they aren't available anymore but you should be able to find something similar. You also need a t8 screwdriver. I got mine in a kit similar to this. The exact one I bought is gone now.

$10 fix, comes with the T8 security screwdriver to remove the 5 screws holding the shell together.

The part is just as good as the OEM, although not the same matte silver.

I bought these in February.


It does require you to take apart your controller, but it's not too difficult. You can look up a video on YouTube about it. I'd order a few just in case you accidentally break one, happened to a friend of mine on his first try.


LB is boop for me but I use LB for air roll/powerslide in rocket league and it takes a beating.

This is what I ordered as a replacement. It came with a screwdriver.

This YouTube Tutorial will show you exactly how to fix it. The person who posted the tutorial had the exact same problem as me.

It was a pretty easy fix. Took 15 minutes. If I had to do it again, it would probably take way less time now that I know what I'm doing.

I replaced my broken bumper with these, works like new. Took about half an hour to get done.

I just had my Elite controller bumper break, the little piece of plastic inside is so tiny its no wonder they break so often.

since it was out of Warranty I went and bought my own bumpers from Amazon

Took about 20min to take apart and replace while watching a youtube video. Works like a charm now. Microsoft support just told me to buy a new one (Thanks). Doing it myself saved me 140 dollars

If for some reason your warranty won't cover it, Amazon has replacement bumpers for about $10 and near perfect reviews, not OEM but still very good option

Bumper replacements do NOT need soldering, that is so wrong. The piece is one long plastic part that pops out easily. These work on the Elite or regular controller w/ 3.5mm jack. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1G6HID

Replacing the sticks also is not soldering, it is replacing the mechanism below it that would. I just opened both kinds of controllers this week and the sticks easily pull off. Literally just turn it upside down and they'll fall off if the faceplate is off.
