I'm a big fan of the A5 Fabriano dot grid notebooks. They're glue bound, so the sheets tear out really easy, so you can get the sketches out of the sketchbook and spread them out on your desk if you need to see a bunch at once. Keep it all held together with a simple binder clip.
They get bad reviews on amazon from people who wanted a more permanent binding, but I like them for work specifically because I can tear sheets out, rearrange pages, remove pages, etc.
The gluebound Fabriano Ecoqua has a 4mm dot grid.
