Enough to get this Eluktronics mech g2 because it has great combination between value for money, weight, battery life, and performance.
It comes with RTX 2060 GPU, You can check the below link to see how the RTX 2060 GPU (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game).
https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-2060-Laptop-Graphics-Card.384946.0.html

It comes with 9th gen, i7 hexa core CPU which is powerful for the mentioned usage.

The outer shell is made almost entirely out of metal.
Very good sRGB coverage for photoshop.
Keyboard is mechanical with RGB backlit.
It has 3 USB type A, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jack and on the back an HDMI, and USB type C.

Screen is IPS with 144Hz refresh rate like you want, with impressively small bezels, and a professional design.

Lid can't be open with one hand.

Fans get loud under intensive work, but that is normal with every good gaming laptop.

Plenty of upgrade options as the chassis supports up to 32GB of ram, and 2 SSDs and 1 HDD.
Heat management is great, it can get hot but it gets cool again pretty quickly once the fans kick in.

Main con of the laptop is the trackpad, it is mediocre at best when you compare it to other laptops in the price range.

Battery life during normal usage is around 3.5-4.5 hours and 1.5 hour during gaming.

Speakers are down facing so during gaming, it is best to wear headphone since the fan gets loud during gaming as well.

I don't think a 17.3" laptop would be the best choice for school and traveling instead I would recommend something like the Mech 15 It's fairly light with good build quality and a mechanical keyboard .

In the questions section, Eluktronics says the 2060 is the “Max-P” version (specifically says not max-q). I have not heard of a Max-P, what is it?

From what I can find MECH-15s from Eluktronics website are either 1660 Ti, 2060, or 2070 Max-Q, so I have no idea what this “Max-P” is.

Secondary question: I assume from a price to performance perspective, a 2060 > 2070 Max Q?

Anyway, I think this is also a good deal so I’m posting it.

Thanks for the insight! I'm only considering the i7-9750H + RTX 2060 because of a deal that lets me get it at $1500 (if I'm reading it right).

Alternatively I could go with the i7-8750H + RTX 2070 (max Q) for $1500 as well, but I think eluktroboost could push the 2060 past it.

Or maybe I could just go with a i7-8750h + RTX 2070 (non max-Q) for $100 more by changing the chassis to a MECH-17.

Thoughts?

The Eluktronics Mech-15 G2R Pro appears to be a very solid option for you. Thin bezels, 4.5lb weight, 1080p 15.6" 144Hz IPS display, RTX 2060 graphics card, i7-9750H processor. Only a 512 GB SSD, you can consider adding another SSD.
