Digital. My scale has never given me a different reading on the same weigh in, ever! Regardless of placement. This one.

Vent 1: biking to/from work is 20 miles (round trip) and i've been trying to go to the gym for HIIT/lifting on top of it, but i'm so. freakin. tired. I'm alternating days right now to try and work up to just doing the damn thing, but I'm so tired whines

Vent 2: I got a new scale and got rid of my old one that was a million years old. The new one tells me i'm literally 5-7 lbs heavier than my old one and it's discouraging af.

Stick with your scale. You've lost 12 pounds. It doesn't matter if you went from 285 to 273 or 269 to 257. You still lose the same amount of weight.

In the meantime, you should really upgrade to a digital scale. They're relatively cheap. They last forever. And they're more accurate.

Here is one for $20:

I bought this scale from Amazon. I haven't had any issues with it thus far. There are a number of other scales that are cheaper, I just picked this one because it was within budget and had high reviews.

Happy shopping.

I bought this one and it's working well as far as I can tell. I've tested it with 10 lb weights and it's always been accurate, and I can step on the scale three times in a row and get the same weight.

I had one that was giving me a different result every time I stepped on the scale. I bought this one on a whim after getting tired of reading contradicting Amazon reviews and it's surpassed my wildest expectations.

I had one of those. I used to average my various weights that it gave from stepping on and back off.

I highly recommend this scale from amazon. Only $16.80, and free one day shipping from prime. It is super precise (though I find it tells me I'm about 1.5lbs heavier than the doctor's scale, but consistently).

You can get a food scale and a real scale online fairly cheap, so hopefully you won't have to save up too long! Amazon has them for as low as $8 with good reviews as well as actual scales for around $18. If you buy a 'slightly' more expensive scale, that would push the order to $25, which would qualify it for free shipping.

I hope this helps (and might help with saving)! A food scale is definitely the most important thing, but having an accurate scale can be really good for morale as well. I definitely think this journey would be much harder if I couldn't weigh myself at least once a week.

I recently got this one. It does the job and costs much less than the comparable ones I found at Target (even the one I bought a few years ago--fuck that thing).

It costs $18 (not shilling) to put this by your bed, and weight yourself when you wake up and go to bed.

Write the data in a book, input once a week. That's 20 seconds extra out of your day. That's over complicating it? That's nothing.

EDIT: I'm glad your method works for you. But having more incremental data is substantially more beneficial, and I strongly thing that saying im overcomplicating it is kinda crap. The reason for the extra data is because this subreddit is basically a place the [majority] of the userbase come s to complain about how much they eat and they don't gain weight.
