I am pretty sure the T420 has an express card slot so you can buy an adapter which allows you too plug into that slot. This allows you to use a desktop graphics card with the laptop. The adapter is 50 dollars on eBay a gpu that I would recommend for you would be a 1050ti or an and Rx 560 which would cost 100 to 150 dollars. Then all you need is a desktop power supply which would be like 30-50 dollars.

Adapter: You can select with or with power supply

Intel G4560 with an GTX 1050.

You should be able to do 60fps at the competitive settings just fine.

u/KrmuelMonster · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

You could buy a gtx 1050 for 104 bucks.
or a radion rx 460 for 90 bucks. they are both way better then the 750ti.

If you gona build a pc pls tell us your budget we can help you with it, dont buy parts that are 10 years old.

u/Emulover2555 · 2 pointsr/cemu

Amd cards sadly don't work well with cemu. This is because amd drivers don't suppport opengl well. Either wait a year for vulkan to be implemented or get an Nvidia card. Cards are starting to get cheap nowadays the gtx 1050 is only $137 on amazon . You could also spend extra to get the 1050ti for $200.

u/Sc381012 · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

It's not going to be easy finding a GTX 660 or greater Video Card for $35.

If you save some money you could just get a new
GTX 1050 2GB for $109.99 (Prices May Vary) on amazon, here's a link:

It'd cost about $400 to bring your PC to a current and upgradable state.
$120 for a Ryzen 3 1200
$120 for a GTX 1050
$100 for 8GB DDR4 (check motherboard RAM list!)
$60 for a 350 series MicroATX motherboard. I recommend MSI, ASRock, or ASUS. I've had problems with Gigabyte, most notably their garbage RMA process.

That's my recommendation.

I just realized that after some searches. I also realized I installed 8gb of ram than the 6 i said. I ended up buying EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 for $100 Is it good possibly? Heres the link to amazon

Save some money https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-02G-P4-6150-KR/dp/B01M9FD3PC/

This one is $150 and from EVGA

If you can go up to $200 the 1050 Ti will be a massive jump over the 1050

I have this one, no power connector needed. Runs great.

I'm not an expert on Graphics card, but I've noticed that cheaper cards tend to have a lower MHz rating. The only 1050 I could find near your price range is this one with a clock of 900 MHz. I also found a ~$200 ($190) card here that clocks in at 1350 MHz, or 1.35 GHz I believe.

Read the description of the card you're sinking your money into. The 1050 for $100 is still a good card, but it just won't perform like its more expensive counterpart.

Edit: It loos like a GT 730 (OP's card in the post) clocks in at 900 MHz, and since the cheap 1050 (that I found, at least) clocks in at the same speed, there's really no reason to upgrade; it'd be a waste of money. Of course, OP, compare the MHz for whatever you can find and choose for yourself.

Also there's a good chance your PSU won't have any extra cables to connect to the GPU so you'd have to get a gpu like this gtx 1050 because it doesn't require any additional cables and it's powered by the motherboard.

Here's a nice budget build for you:

CPU: Intel Core i3 8100k https://www.amazon.com/Intel-8th-Core-i3-8100-Processor/dp/B0759FTRZL Or if you want to go even cheaper, go with this CPU: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Pentium-Dual-Core-Processor-BX80677G4560/dp/B01NCE8T92 it's only 2 cores but it has really good hyperthreading.

I don't know if this is necessarily a "Simple Question," but I'm always nervous to make posts, so hopefully this doesn't cross the rules, if so I'm sorry. Also if I need to add more info, please let me know, I'm new to this.

I think I want to upgrade my CPU and GPU.

My current setup:

GPU: XFX PCI-Express Video Card R7-360P-2SF5

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K Black Edition CPU Quad Core FM2+ 3700Mhz 95W 4MB AD860KXBJABOX

I don't know if the rest of the stuff matters but here it is:

Case+PSU: ROSEWILL Micro ATX Mini Tower Computer Case with PSU, Steel Computer Case + 400w Power Supply, Front I/O: 2x USB 2.0 and Audio In/Out And 90mm Rear Case Fan (R363-M)

HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX

Motherboard: Gigabyte AMD FM2+ A68H SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 mATX ATX DDR3 2133 NA Motherboards GA-F2A68HM-H
Ram: Ballistix Sport 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) UDIMM 240-Pin Memory - BLS8G3D1609DS1S00

And I do want to say, that currently, it works great already. I just can hardly run the new Injustice 2 Beta, and a few other games, and now that I have the money, I'm looking to upgrade. I've been looking for hours, and I just want to make certain that these parts will work still, and that they are significantly worth it.

These are the parts I'm looking into:

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 GAMING, 2GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 02G-P4-6150-KR

CPU:

Either:

AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler (YD1200BBAEBOX)

or

AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler (YD1400BBAEBOX)

So please, help me out, let me know if you need more info. Either CPU is in my price range, but I don't know if the 5 is worth the extra money compared to the 3. I believe everything will work with my computer. I think I want the 5, just sorta want confirmation, y'know.
