Just my opinion, I am no expert, but these seem like the best choices as they are popular, and consideration how much work it would take to design them.
Also check the most popular on Amazon, Newegg and PC part picker.

CPUs from one socket look almost the same right?
So a LGA 1151 and AM3+ CPUs.

For RAM, classic PCB with black chips, maybe another one with a very simple heatspreader in different colors, as it would take quite a lot of work to create realistic heatspreaders for little benefit IMO.

Any HDD, they all look similar.

For SSDs, Samsung are the most popular and very simple to do.

Three most popular CPU coolers prolly are CRYORIG H7, Hyper 212 EVO, and Corsair H100i, maybe with addition of a single fan AIO like Corsair H55.

GPUs are tougher:

You can find just as good on Amazon Warehouse on certain days for certain cards. I found a good deal on a 1080 months ago on an MSI card that I wanted. They get some shipments that are damaged and put it "used - very good" . I much prefer them to open box, all the warehouse items I got I either can't tell they're damaged or small marks.

Here's an EVGA card for $334 not including tax: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01GX5YWAO/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487805828&sr=1-1&keywords=1070

I just saw an evga superclocked 1070 available with prime shipping for 440 something...i see what you mean about the prices. They went up significantly from a couple months ago when I got mine. Hey, thank you! I really appreciate that :) Green is my favorite color, and this was the most tasteful case I could find that was full tower. I don't like a whole lot of bells and whistles on the outer frame, and I seemed to like the contours of this case. The edges were a tad sharp, but very gracefully bezeled where they needed to be. NZXT has some pretty amazing case layouts, as well as amazing grommet points for cable management. After I get settled into my new place, I'm going to redo the cable management, as well as the CPU heatsink fitting (gonna rotate it so that stupid wire isn't all cattywampused over the top of the fan lol).

I'm still undecided about a Polaris or a Pascal card. Granted, I've been a die hard AMD fan since I switched from Nvidia, which was way back when I first bought an HD 4890 (which is still a bitchin' card still by the way, especially for people who don't play much high end). However, that being said, and for budget vs performance, I am more inclined to grab an EVGA GTX 1070 SC.

Sorry for the amazon.com link, but I couldn't read amazon.de

EVGA has GREAT customer support, so I'd suggest this from them.

> gtx 1070 SC

Not in my opinion.. the 1070 Initial MSRP was $400..

Amazon That card sold for as low as: $375

https://camelcamelcamel.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/product/B01GX5YWAO

Ok PC Parts Picker: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Tv38TW/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-sc-gaming-acx-30-video-card-08g-p4-6173-kr?history_days=730

It was under $400 in the past as well..

All that being said I would not pay close to old MSRP for 2 year old Tech.. Your coworker is trying to recoup his losses at buying it 6 months ago for a premium heck 6 months ago is was going for less than $450..

So the Deal is Meh in my opinion for a used card.

Prices on Nvidia cards are continuing to drop.. So I would continue to wait.. Unless you feel absolutely postoperative you NEED a card right now? and THIS is the card for you..

It being a Co-Worker you can beat him about the head lol if it fails shortly there after.. AND you go not have to worry about shipping / or dealing with strangers if your buying a Used card..

Me again personally would NOT buy a used GPU.. Even if I knew the guy..

If I WAS to buy used? I would not pay more than around $320 for that card.. and HE will NOT like THAT lmao.. but hey it IS used and I would want a 20% discount from MSRP ($400 - it sold as low as $375 Apr 30, 2017 from Amazon..

I'm about to buy one of these 1070s myself. How can I tell if the pads have already been applied?

I am having trouble picking a 1070 graphics card, there are just so many models and brands it is a tad overwhelming. I am currently looking at the this EVGA for 400 US dollars but how does that compare to other slightly more expensive 1070s? This is one of the cheapest I have found, so is it not as great?

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-Turbo-Graphic-TURBO-GTX1080-8G/dp/B01HDUVJ2M

that isa blower style GPU. where it sucks air in and the force of the sucked in air pushes the hot air out.

this is a "normal" GPU:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GX5YWAO/ref=pd_lpo_147_bs_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WDXCNXP9KWZS8DAH9E4H

it has fans that cool of the gpu.

Blower style GPU run hotter than normal; GPU because they have one fan only. That fan also has to work harder so they are generally louder. Besides the noise and heat there is nothing really wrong with them. they still perform well just at a bit higher temps.

i have the blower style GPu i linkd. I like it but its a bit loud.

u/Mormon_lad · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

if your mobo has pcie-3 lanes, you should be fine, what's your processor if i might ask? also, i would personally recommend the Asus Gtx 1070 Strix edition, or MSI or EVGA's editions over the founders edition.

The 580 is the successor to the 480 but since AMD cards are especially good at mining their prices are especially inflated right now. A 1080 only offers 10% more FPS than a 1070ti and 13% more than a 1070. There is a rather large jump from the 1060 to the 1070. So frankly I'd consider the 1070 to be the best value of the three.

I'd probably get either this 1070:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01GX5YWAO/?ie=UTF8&condition=all&tag=nisamain-20&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Or this 1080 (it's on sale so decide fast)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125880&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-VigLink-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6163686&SID=jfgvyg4wah011rh100053

The 1070ti prices right now aren't really competitive with that 1080 being on sale.

Hey mate, something like this could work: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/ByfcxY

You can obviously switch out the i5 for an i7 6700k if you wanted something more heavy duty.

That Noctua cooler runs super quiet. However, if you're planning to overclock it might be worthwhile going to an AIO watercooler for the CPU.

The memory is nice and low profile and will work with that Noctua cooler.

As for 1070s, you'll probably want something with a blower or a hybrid. The EVGA 1070 FE is currently cheap over on PLE.

If you're looking at hybrids, the two current options for 1070s are the EVGA hybrid and the MSI hybrid. I've got 0 experience with either of these cards, or with AIO graphics card watercooling in general so I won't comment beyond that.

And a bonus Aussie tip: EVGA 1070s are currently pretty cheap on Amazon (573 AUD shipped for the 1070 SC) and you can still register the card in Australia to get your full manufacturer's warranty from EVGA. I've not personally done this myself before, and whether or not losing out on Australian consumer law against the retailer is worth it is a choice you'll have to make.

However, the Founder's Edition isn't very cheap on Amazon (about the same as PLE currently) so it'll come down to whether or not you're happy with higher temps overall since I don't think that open air cooler will perform as well as a founder's edition/blower style card would in this case.

changed link of memory kit.

u/socomplex · 1 pointr/buildapc

I've been stalking the market since mid June for a 1070. Truth be told I probably should have waited for a 1060 but I'm okay with my purchase. I got the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 back when it was in stock for amazon price of $430. I really wanted the RGB FTW edition to match a color scheme but I'm okay with this since its a crap shoot trying to find in stock store ones besides the scalpers. Just waiting for the delivery now.

u/c_will · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yes, it is (my current card).

If my CPU is bottlenecking my card at 1080p, won't it become even more of a bottleneck once I step up to 1440p/144 hz?

u/LightsOut5774 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Besides the color scheme, is there any difference between this EVGA 1070 and this 1070? How come one is a bit cheaper?

u/rcioffe · 1 pointr/buildapc

Change out the founders edition of the card for an EVGA or something. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GX5YWAO/?tag=extension-kb-20

Clocks are factory set at higher/stabler speeds and have better cooling. Also cheaper than the one you listed ;P

EVGA G2 PSU is like $5 more than the NEX and a better version of it.

The Aorus Gaming K7 on Newegg comes with that wifi/bluetooth adapter for free and comes with a bit more.

Steer away from seagate HDDs as they tend to have a higher failure rate than others.

This is my current set up

My current GPU is an AMD Radeon R9 200 and lately it has been running really hot so I am looking to replace it with something that will last a few years.

This is the one I am currently looking into based on PCPart Picker

Based on my set up, is this the best value I can get for the money? Also, do I need to look into better cooling if I add this to my set up?

> It's an advertised part of the product

I would actually argue that it's not. You found out about it through word-of-mouth from people talking about it here, as did I. It's not advertised anywhere on their homepage, it's not mentioned anywhere on [their] (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F84BJ0092) [product] (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GX5YWAO/) [pages] (http://www.ncix.com/detail/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-sc-f3-132464.htm) on any of the major retailers I can find... hell, if I didn't know to Google Search specifically for EVGA Step Up, the only way I would ever have seen the program is one tiny link at the bottom of the SUPPORT tab on EVGA's homepage.

They're not fanfaring it at the top of their lungs. They're not waving it under your nose every time you pull up one of their packages. It's being offered as a peace-of-mind program, not touted as a product enhancement.

> This [...] will be included in their pricing decisions.

If that's the case, they value the service pretty poorly - EVGA's products regularly compete with ASUS and MSI's in terms of performance and thermals, yet they frequently cost less. I don't see ASUS or MSI offering any sort of program or product enhancement that brings their costs up.

I still say you're giving EVGA a whole bucket of shit for a service they aren't charging you for. They're a business, not a charity - the fact that they offer the program at all is part of why I at least extol their customer service, because that is a purely customer-serving program.
