This is so weird and I think being UK makes it stranger. You have enough money for what I assume is a Palace on a Major Estate. And access to various tools and help.

But, when doing the trim work, there is something called a coping saw which is 100% worth the money even for that tiny job. As you know from your comments. Coping trim and crown molding is some form of Negative Hyperspace dark-art, but that saw makes quick work of it.

You exposed the subfloor and have cracks into your crawlspace. It all should start squeaking pretty quick if not already. Spills are going to make it through your finish after very little wear and soak in. I would expect critters to begin visiting you very soon. You need a floor.

Unlike others, I think your aesthetic is fine. You replaced that Big Box Store Coupon Special and went with more of an Arts & Crafts look. But there's a couple of problems, mainly walking on the subfloor.

Overall I think it's an improvement in looks over that nasty snap-together laminate and white fireplace, gah, but you have to put flooring down and touch up the curtains and colors for a full A&C affect IMO.

One thing I've learned from DIY, though, is that Young Adults and their closely-associated Teens are going to be easy to please if I ever buy a rental. Just buy the cheapest shit at Home Depot, slap it in, BANG YA Urban Contemporary, lol.
