I'm currently trying to finish Fr Seraphim Rose- His Life and Works for the third time and despite my apparent inability to complete it, I really do enjoy it.

Yes, of course.

One thing I found as a convert is that one must learn to put the emphasis in "Orthodox Christian" on "Christian" somewhat more than "Orthodox". While the ability to participate in the Divine Mysteries is a great gift, Orthodoxy views all of life as a Mystery. We commune with God whenever we commune with our brothers and sisters in love and when we worship God in Spirit and Truth.

There are many accounts of isolated converts in Father Seraphim Rose: His Life and Works. He and Father Herman established a monastery literally in the middle of nowhere and attracted a number of people in other middles-of-nowhere to Orthodoxy. At least one family built their own little chapel and conducted Readers services.

Even without conducting your own services, though, you would participate in the life of the Church by praying, observing the fasts, giving alms, etc.
