Here is a list of supplies that are very helpful to have:
You can go on etsy and get fancier stitch markers, or just stick with the simple plastic ones. Whichever hooks and supplies you end up getting, try to get a carrying case to go with them. It doesn't have to be specific for crochet. It can be a pencil case or little zip up makeup pouches. They sometimes sell the makeup/travel pouches in sets of 2 or 3 sizes in the drug store or card store. Having a few in different sizes is best- one for the little things like stitch markers, needles, etc, and one for the medium sized things like rulers, measuring tape and scissors, and one for all the hooks. They make special hook cases, and if you're buying a set and they sell one that coordinates, you should consider getting it. They also make crochet supply cases, like this one, which hold everything all together.
Merry Christmas!
If it's just your fingers and not the top half of your hand that get blisters, you could try 'finger sleeves'. I got some for covering up ripped caluses so I could still hold a bar without pain in workouts and they're great.
I almost bought some of those four-fingered gloves but I think they were too many reviews about the hand part slipping around
Sports finger sleeves or the knit compression kind, or finger cots.
