>I'm not sure why you're inferring this from the invention of cusps- it seems like you're reading motive into it based on... personal opinion? Cusps are simply an astrological tool and way to interpret sign placements. Nothing more, and I dont know that we can infer some kind of nefarious intention from it. Surely I dont think prominent astrologers who believe and use cusps are doing so out of laziness.

You are definitely free to research the history and utilization of the sign cusp phenomenon yourself and I'd be surprised if you didn't arrive at a similar stance. You can read more about the advent of Sun Sign astrology, its effect on astrology in popular culture, and even insight into the beginning of the phenomenon of sign cups in Kim Farnell's Flirting with the Zodiac. We know when and where it started and what purpose it was crafted for. To deny it and try to throw it back on me as "inferring" something that isn't there is really intellectually lazy and disingenuous.

>They absolutely are utilized in conjunction with a whole chart, I'm not sure why you would say otherwise.

Sign cusps are definitely not utilized in conjunction with a whole astrological chart. This is just an obviously incorrect thing to say...

>It sounds to me like you have some vendetta against cusps, which is fine. But to act like discussing them or other astrologers feeling differently is either insane or lazy is wrong. Plenty of astrologers do use cusps, so it's not some object truth that cusps don't exist.

I don't have a vendetta against sign cusps, per se. I take issue with the greater astrological ignorance that the idea of sign cusps perpetuate. The idea requires us to completely mischaracterize what the zodiac is and takes the form of a belief statement. It's fine to believe in sign cusps. No one can stop you from doing so and it's really clear that that's what you've set your mind to regardless of what anyone else has to say about it. But, seeing the zodiac a spectrum of energy that blends indistinctly is just not how the zodiac is conceptualized. It also encourages an ignorance to the history and development of astrology and leaves people completely unprepared to discuss astrology at anything more than a Sun sign level. It encourages us to dismiss the complexity of an astrological chart and the understanding that we are more than just our Sun sign (which is why some people don't identify with it). A lot more harm comes from championing sign cusps than good, because once we step away from the idea that the Sun ought to explain everything that we experience and perceive about ourselves is when we really start to see what insight the chart as a whole and in the hands of a capable astrologer can provide someone.
