I enjoyed reading Free Will: A Contemporary Introduction by Michael McKenna and Derk Pereboom. McKenna is a leading compatibilist philosopher, meaning that he thinks free will can exist even if the world is deterministic. Pereboom is a leading hard incompatibilist who believes that there is no free will because the world is governed entirely by the laws of physics.

After setting the historical context, the book goes quite in depth about current views on free will, and summarizes many views held by living philosophers which are actively being debated.
