Check it out. I have it and get compliments on voice quality almost daily.
$15 for a quality mic w/2day shipping free? hellz yeah
/u/it_follows more than likely wins, but my brother gave me one of these for my birthday 2 years ago. It was multiple magnitudes worse than my logitech G930.
A few months later, he let me borrow his Yeti, which introduced me to this sub, and subsequently convinced me to get my current AT2020
To make it easier to read for people:
Now to my opinion: I think it should be good enough for starters. If you enjoy it, aren't terrible at it, and have more money, then upgrade.

For the price, cant be beat.
Had it for 2 years. No issues.
That's not a bad idea, if you're wanting to use some badass headphones. The separate mic isn't the classiest solution, but that'll do.
I imagine you could get a tabletop mic if you didn't want to have to clip on that little wearable mic. Something like this would do, or maybe this.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KL0VY2/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 works well for me. By far the best of the cheap microphones.
No I think a trade off for some nice headphones with more options would be worth not having wireless. I'm really considering buying the audio technica ATH-M50 or M50x headphones. And this [desk mic] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KL0VY2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1LSTHIVDF1JT1) and this filter
i looked around the csgo subreddit and found this
zalman zm-mic1 also got favorable comments
this and this also were decently received
personally i use a blue snowball which is ~$40
just be sure to use push to talk and you should be fine
It's a $15 amazon mic haha..

Would this be fine for just talking with friends on Steam? http://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Computer-Laptop-Notebook-canceling/dp/B002KL0VY2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1398434288&sr=8-2&keywords=desktop+microphone
Gaming headsets, Astro A40s and other 'high end' sets specifically. I understand why they're popular, they're a convenient way of getting clear game audio with a built in microphone, but for the money they're so incredibly ineffectual.
Why would you buy one expensive thing that sits at your desk and produces inferior quality audio when you can buy a pair of headphones at less or equal cost that destroy it (and are portable/useful outside the PC gaming world) and any number of microphones (like this or this or this or this) that offer greater quality and the ability to use your headphones as headphones?
Just audio for a podcast, I know this isnt the subreddit for it but I need a mic and I didnt know where else to go. I dont want to spend too much cash and I found this pretty decent deal, on a good looking mic. My friend told me to not buy it because it didnt have a USB connection and normally those are the ones which provide the best audio. Mic I wanna buy
I dont plan on making podcasting my job, its something for recreation so im not planning on spending too much for something that isnt going to pay for itsself or something that I might not continue. I feel this mic does the job but may you provide some insight in the quality of noise?
I personally do some audio editing using audacity and im quite good at it, so if I dont get the best recording here I can help myself out there.
