Isn’t it just an extension? Dock and Charger Extender Cable for Nintendo Switch, Support 10 Gbps Data Transfer Rate - 3.28 feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tdBMzbW3T668N

The one mentioned works just fine for me.

I ended up going a different route. I got this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

.. and a nice stand:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079LRBNKV/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

This configuration allows me to use whatever the hell grip case I want and still gain ALL the benefits of using the dock (while actually hiding the dock under the desk). Take a look.

On the original Nintendo dock, it helps greatly to weight down that little spring-loaded plate around the USB-C port to prevent the extension cable from disconnecting. There's an extender that has a built in block to achieve that task but with any standard USB extender, anything that fits and is heavy enough will work fine. I mainly use the Best Buy dock due to the size and restricted entry angle of the original one.

u/ke5pay · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitchDeals

It is not dockable. The case adds about a third to the thickness however it does fit in the case I have and I believe it will fit most other cases. Having said that it takes up enough space that you cannot fit as much in the case, for mine I can get a cord in the pouch but only a small AC adapter. I am personally using this adapter in order to "dock" the unit and treating my joycons as non-removable as it is a bit of a bother to take the case off.

u/dungorthb · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I am using this one and I love it, no issues and I even leave it in plugged over night sometimes by accident and no issues.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Get this one because there's a different one that does not work with an ethernet adapter.

u/jpierc23 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I can't speak for just a standard extension cable, but I've been using this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Which is basically an extension cable for 5+ months with no issues. Also, I've been using it post update with no problems whatsoever. However, YMMV.

u/Kraivyne · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Not a dock but I use this with my existing dock and gripcase.

It's a bit of a pain to get into the dock but I've been using it for a few months not and its been great!

u/ThenThereWasReddit · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

This accessory did away with all my docking woes. Works flawlessly so far.

u/ninusc92 · 2 pointsr/xboxone

true, tbh I stopped using my dock traditionally once I noticed it was leaving scuffs on the console from sliding in/out (mine is on a shelf, so I have to go in & out at an angle) so this solved that problem. I have a case and screen protector on it as well.

u/Mazzuolo · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

It’s possible for any 3rd party dock to brick your Switch, so using any unofficial dock is not advised. Something you could use to keep the case on your Switch and still use the official dock is an extender like this.

u/naive-dragon · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Look into buying one of the Dock Extender cables. I use a Satisfye Grip myself, and after buying the dock extender I've never needed to take the grip off for docked gaming.

u/danielfletcher · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Strips and chargers are minimal. But TV's create an RF field, plus you have that big metal back on them. So issues for Wifi and bluetooth. Even cordless phone base units can cause wifi interference.

I have my Switch dock tucked away, and I just have a decent USB-C extension cable running from it and I have a Lamicall multi-angle stand for when I want to run the Switch docked. It is a PITA to put a USB-C extension cable in though, so you could look into something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV

u/TemptedTemplar · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Replacement USB-C to HDMI docks are not advised. All of the units on the market right now have fried at least one switch even while using the official AC adapter.

For your case, just look at a USB-C extension cable

u/auburrito · 2 pointsr/GirlGamers

I got most of the accessories from Amazon:

grip case

paw caps (I got the 02 and 03 sets)

dock extender

display stand

I got the joycons and a rechargeable joycon grip from Target.

u/PianoConcertoNo2 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Mine does but getting it to work is another story.

Just get a USBC hdmi extension from amazon. It’s a block connector that you put in the dock, with a long USBC cable running out of it. Mines been great.

I made a Gamecube dock like this one.

I can't play in handheld mode without my Skull co gripcase and it was advertised to fit in docks, but some (like mine) don't.
___
But before I made the GC dock I used an extension with my case. Works as if it was docked normally.

u/TyMiles2012 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Here's a link. One end slides into the dock.

It will not fit in the dock, but is very easy to remove and attach. I am debating if I should get switch dock extender cable from amazon.

u/weareallusers · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I set my dock up behind the tv with this plugged into it. Then I just set my switch on a little ledge I have under the TV and plug it in with the case on.

u/deeefoo · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

For your second point, there's still a way to dock your Switch even if it has a protective case on it. All you have to do is get one of those dock extender cables that allow you to plug your Switch into the dock without actually physically docking it. This way, you can keep your Switch in its protective case and still easily switch between handheld and docked mode.

I'm protective about my electronics, so I always throw cases on them as soon as I get them. This is the accessory I use, and it's been working great so far. Better airflow too

u/bruuizzy · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Hey guys I recently saw Youtube videos where people were reviewing a dock and charger extender cable, most of them being about his product: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 wondering with all the bricked consoles due to docks in 5.0 is anyone using this? does it work fine in 5.0?

u/I_Call_It_Vera · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I recently purchased a dock extender from Amazon so I don't have to plug the switch into the dock (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072LWBYDV/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521410406&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Nintendo+switch+dock+extender)

I know there has been some concern about third party docks and issues with them, does anyone have any experience with this? It's not really a dock, so I assume it should be okay, but wanted to see if anyone has thoughts.

Thanks!

u/oseuo · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I pretty much use this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and I just leave my nintendo switch on a stand

it's not the ideal solution but it gets the job done and looks somewhat presentable!

u/Dislodged_Puma · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Here you go - just in case anyone else needs one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I went with this because a typical USB-C extender cable doesn't push down properly and is prone to pop out. This was designed to keep all 3 levels in place.

Has worked flawlessly for me in the month or so I've been using it.

I wish my Skull & Co Case would dock properly so I didn't need it, but considering I could only ever get the display to pop up once in dozens of tries, I figured this is the safest bet and also keeps the heat down. It always sucks to buy more things, but this also leaves open the possibility of getting different cases maybe?

EDIT: I should add that I have opted to keep my Hori Stand out at all times and just place it on the stand when it's docked. Just seemed more preferable than dropping it on my entertainment center haha.

u/Ryan_Duderino · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Yes, but there's a cheap and useful solution.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LWBYDV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought this alongside the hard shell case, which was this one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0773KT5VS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works great and feels really comfortable to hold.

u/FlashmansTimestopper · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Most definitely. It instantly makes the console feel more solid in hand while offering the extra grip. Even though you can't dock it I have no complaints. If docking is a need you could always look for an extender cord.

u/Tri0ptimum · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I just use a USB-C to USB-C extension cable made for the dock, and put the switch in a stand that allows the cable to be used and for airflow.

u/The_Naked_Sun · 1 pointr/Switch

Best advice I can give a new Switch owner, is don't use that dock. Get a usb-c extension cable, run that from your dock which you can hide somewhere, to the Switch. Keep the Switch on one of these slick stands, and in one of these grip cases. It will not get scratched, will stay cooler, and look nicer. Plus you never need to remove the grip case now.

These are what I got, many type of stands to choose from though.

Case https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Yteam-Protective-Anti-Scratch/dp/B078TC25QY/ref=sr_1_6?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1521465807&sr=1-6&keywords=switch+grip+case

Stand, not one I have, can't find that link but similar, https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Angle-Nintendo-Switch-Lamicall-Playstand/dp/B01LZAYH58/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1521465932&sr=1-5&keywords=switch+stand+nintendo

Dock cable extension, https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1521465983&sr=1-3&keywords=switch+usb+c+cable+dock+nintendo

u/b166ar · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I bought this case after I dropped my Switch and broke one of the joy-cons.

https://imgur.com/gallery/YoPnJ

It will definitely protect joy-cons from side drops. Also adds more grip and have a place for a wrist strap. I really like it.

But it will not protect joysticks from face-down drops.

Also, it will not fit the dock so you should consider buying some extender.

u/BABaracus11 · 1 pointr/Games

I use one of these so I dont have to remove my case in hand held mode.

Dock and Charger Extender Cable for Nintendo Switch, Support 10 Gbps Data Transfer Rate - 3.28 feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_lc7TAb3T8BEVT

My switch has been working fine since the update.

I also use an anker usb charger while in handheld mode, no problems there either.

u/Lockheed_Martini · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

here or you could wait for those mini docks to come in stock (those are $29.99)

u/fargle24 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

>I just recieved the Skull grip case for my new switch (the new version with longer battery life). The case is really nice. The Skull case was not dockable for me with the new switch. Because of this I will be getting an extender https://www.amazon.com/Extender-Nintendo-Switch-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV . That way I don't have to keep removing the case. It slides on an off nicely but the joycons do flex a smidge.

u/Hunter2451 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

This right here is the best case I've ever used. (UK link) They say that you can use it with the dock but I don't suggest relying on the ability to dock the switch. We have 3 of them and right now two of them dock but one of them doesn't. Mine feels really tight if I try to dock it so I got one of these (UK link) which eliminated the case docking issue.

EDIT: Looks like the UK link only has the switch case and not the carry case. You might be able to find one on eBay or something similar.

u/strafethewall · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

one of these And you won’t have to put it in the dock, you can leave it in a case.

u/TheToonWolf · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I did the thing with loosening the screws on the dock. It's easy enough honestly. And if you're still wary of it, you can use something like this to just plug the Switch in and rest it on top: https://www.amazon.com/Extender-Cable-Nintendo-Switch-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV/

u/avilash · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

You can always buy a USB Type C extender: plug it into where the switch would normally connect in the dock, then you can just lay your Switch flat and plug in the USB type C cable.

One example of a cable made to easily dock: [Extender Cable for Nintendo Switch Dock, Support 10 Gbps Data Transfer Rate - 3.28 feet] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_bp7JBbEYZ4W9F)

However, any USB type 3 female to male will work.

u/Chokaay · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

https://www.amazon.com/FYOUNG-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV/

Been using this for the past year so I don't have to take off my grips.

u/ianduude · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

This is the extension cable I’ve been using so I can play docked while having my Switch propped up on a Playstand:

https://www.amazon.com/FYOUNG-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV

As far as I can tell, I don’t have anywhere else I can l plug it into at this house. One of these days, I’ll get a power bank so I won’t have to run into this issue. I hardly travel my Switch so I normally won’t encounter this kind of problem anyway.

u/MtnDr3w · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I love my mumba grip case due to its ruggedness and comfort, though it can be challenging to remove. Luckily I have a second set of joycons and a pro controller so I never have to remove the ones attached to my console. I also use the dock extender cable so I don’t have to remove the case to dock the switch.

Mumba: www.amazon.com/dp/B077FFBTVJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DLxFDbD5X7PHX

Dock extender: www.amazon.com/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4PxFDbQAN6RSV

u/DaleTheHuman · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I never dock mine but when I get Mario kart or another multi player game I plan to get one of these.

u/Samcroreaper · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Any reason to not use a dock extender cable? This one in particular, but it's really just a USB-C Extension cable.

https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=pd_ybh_a_5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TZCS1PJ5HZX2E8NPDPRT

I need it because I keep my switch in a Mumba case and I'd rather not remove the case constantly when I want to dock it. I also bought the Hori stand so that my Switch is standing upright and not blocking vents when it will be docked (yet remain undocked).

u/rimmickrecords · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Just to clarify you have these products?

https://www.amazon.com/BASSTOP-Portable-Nintendo-Replacement-original/dp/B071YVC3NJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522916940&sr=8-3&keywords=basstop+nintendo+switch

https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Extender-Nintendo-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522917012&sr=1-1&keywords=fyoung+extension

If these are correct, you're saying that with the Skull and Co. Gripcase you can not dock on the Basstop Dock so you bought the FYOUNG extension? Is that what you're saying or am I off?

Also, if that is what you were implying, does the Basstop dock and the FYOUNG extension fit in the carrying case from Skull and Co. along with everything else?

u/Coronamassacre · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

do you want it to stand like the original doc or is this extender fine?

https://www.amazon.com/Extender-Nintendo-Switch-Support-Transfer/dp/B072LWBYDV

u/L0ial · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I have a similar case. You can't dock it with the case on, so I also got a dock extender. Now the dock itself is tucked away behind my TV stand and I use the cord to dock it. It's been working great for months now.

u/Anxiety4Reddit · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I was wondering if this works and doesn't have any harmful risks. It has good reviews on Amazon but I'm asking here since Amazon reviews can tend to be dodgy.
