I am a gfuel drinker, and this news freaked me out so I did some research:

The article that EveIsForAlphas cited doesn't tell us much because the technique they used was not nearly sensitive enough. The FDA did some research with 500x higher sensitivity and found that most food actually contains less than 1 microgram/kg. https://www.fda.gov/downloads/Food/FoodSafety/FoodContaminantsAdulteration/TotalDietStudy/UCM243059.pdf (check the column that says number not detected. Many of the samples had less than their sensitivity of 1 microgram/kg.

Also, prop 65 only tells us that gfuel has more than 0.5 microgram/day. Lets do some math: the gfuel serving size is 7 grams (https://www.amazon.com/Gamma-Labs-Fuel-Pineapple-Serving/dp/B017WD7Q5O?th=1), and they recommend a maximum of 3 servings per day = 21 grams/day. If this has at least 0.5 micrograms of lead, that gives gfuel a lead density of AT LEAST 23.8 micrograms/kg. This is much higher than almost any food we normally eat. Since prop65 only specifies a minumum, that means gfuel is extremely likely to contain much more lead than this.

Additionally, unlike most toxins, lead actually accumulates over time in our bodies. (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs379/en/) So even a little amount each day will add up to a lot over time.

So yea. Seems like an unnecessary risk for me. I am going to look for alternatives.
