Solid deal but you could spring for the Aorus Elite or Aorus Pro which are going for $195 and $197. They should handle a 9900K 5GHz well.

the z390 motherboards are a steal

I have dual 28" Samsung U28E590 4K monitors, and they work great. I'm not familiar with FreeSync so I can't address that. However the guide that I followed was made by a guy using the AMD RX580 card, so that's definitely good to go. His settings and kexts worked on my Sapphire card with zero changes.

My wife has a 27UD58 and we both agree the Samsungs look slightly better, though her monitor is slimmer and lighter.

I am not a gamer, so I can't address the video/monitor as far as gaming use. I could have spent less on a card with less memory, or a lesser card, but I was trying to go with a known compatible card. Also the wifi/BT on the motherboard doesn't work, so you can buy another version of the board without it. And if you do that, the guide's USB port kexts will be exactly the same (mine are slightly different).

Alright so newegg was just trying to scam my ass, that's good to know haha.

This one, right? It still shows like 180 for me gdi...

I was torn between a 3800x and 9900k, but the 9900k seems to be a smarter move for audio work, so I'm trying to part some things out now.

I bought my Z390 Aorus Pro on Amazon. Looks like it's still available.

  • Both Sockets 1150 and 1151 use the same mounting dimensions, so no worries there.

  • The MSI Z390-A isn't really suited for a CPU like the i9-9900K, as its VRMs are rather weak. A more appropriate selection would be the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro.

  • As for RAM, try to get at least DDR4-3000 or faster.

sorry to be so annoying, but is this the correct ATX version?

It looks like the GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO is cheaper than the GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS Master. Is it necessary that I use a master to follow your guide and use an i9?

u/shrunkmold · 1 pointr/buildapc

Have you looked at the Gigabyte - Z390 AORUS PRO. I am planning to use it in soon to come build and people seem to like it.

The build looks good, but I think the NZXT motherboards have had some issues. It seems like the aesthetics of the board are nice, but not sure on the performance. I'll let others chime in if they have used them before.

The new RTX supers are also out so you could look at those as well. I think the RTX 2060 Super is similar to the original 2070.
