Ginger really is pretty good for nausea. BUT, ginger ale has very little or no real ginger in it. It's no better than sprite. Ginger beer (it's non-alcoholic) will work well though. You can find it at fancier grocery stores. I also used a lot of chewy ginger candy (gin gins) and a hot ginger drink (ginger honey crystals). Warning, these are all very spicy because they have a high concentration of real ginger.

That being said, there's no shame in getting anti-nausea medication either. D what works for you.

I used to be a singer so I got all of the tricks

tea with honey. You can do tea with lemon but I always found lemon to hurt my throat more than help. Also lots of water and clear liquids.

Ginger candies. Even though they are ginger chews, just suck on them like a cough drop

People poked fun at Oculus for having bins of ginger candy available at their GDC demos, but ginger really is a great way to combat motion sickness. I ended up buying a bunch of the same kind of ginger candy Oculus had, and I plan to offer it to people any time I'm giving demos of VR to friends or family.
