If you want more information about reconciling scientific theory with Christianity (which is absolutely possible and not contrary to Scripture, faith, or tradition) I'd check out BioLogos. They basically exist to provide resources to people asking the kind of questions you're asking.

If you want to get a look at views from Young Earth Creationists, Atheistic Evolutionists, and Theistic Evolutionists (along with some great theory of religion stuff) I'd recommend God & Evolution: A Reader as well. It was edited together by a professor of mine who is one of the most educated women I've ever met (three Master's and a PhD from Yale!) and an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ to boot.
