Plenty of things like this exist in the tech world, there is an off the shelf product like the GoPro remote or you can put together something easily. The oculus Rift used to come with a media remote, the Quest can pair to bluetooth devices, and having a single press to start and stop recording would actually be useful. If there was ever a community of people capable of slapping one together it would be this community.
