So what has worked for me over many back and forth "quits" is this:

a. Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil This has been such a radical game changer. I've taken nootropics and straight up drugs that had less effect than this does as far as how you feel, both acutely and especially chronically. I tested as very deficient in Vit D. I suspect cannabis and all drug use depletes this over time, and obviously a poor diet which I have had for most of my dependency. Vit D is considered a neuro-steroid, its effects are so profound and absolutely required for proper neurotransmission and formation of dopamine and serotonin among other actual hormones.

Very powerful and essential. Also, the DHA/EPA are proven through studies to essentially "unclog" the cannabinoid receptors. We are not just dealing with tolerance aka receptor downregulation, its also the receptors becoming physically clogged. This is the only brand that I found to be true, unadulterated, and immediately effective. I take 3x the recommended dose. It comes with an oral syringe and a cap that just lets you draw it right out. It doesnt even taste bad, at all. Old world wives wisdom is to take a big tablespoon anytime you feel sickness coming on, or are feeling down.

b. I use phenylethanolamide a FAAH inhibitor that allows my natural cannabinoids to remain in play for longer, and therefore accumulate to a higher natural degree. Most people take it for pain and inflammation. I've also recently added in a CBD tincture from CBDistillery in an effort to antagonize the receptors lightly and therefore encourage them to upregulate faster. It also enhances the activity of the endocannabinoid system as well, a good synergy here. The cbd doesnt feel very anxiolytic, or really very effective at all as far as perceivable effects, i assume because of a trashed cannabinoid system, but it notably improves the time needed to reset tolerance and return to a more normal baseline. The PEA is something that takes a couple weeks to work at peak effect as the natural cannabinoids build up over time.

c. In the past I've taken megadoses of Inositol to great effect. The studies show at 12-18g it is very effective for depression, panic, ocd, and anxiety. It both enhances serotonergic neurotransmission, and upregulates dopamine receptors. After 3-5 days of taking 1g every 1-2 hours (to avoid GI issues) I have a notable lifting of the stubborn anhedonia. I feel like engaging life again.

d. last but not least, and not for those who lack discipline, is to microdose cannabis. Look up Healer.com, Dr Sulak who has a protocol that after 48 hours of abstinence you can start by, maximum 3x per day, with hours spread in between, taking the smallest possible hit of the weakest possible weed, and blowing it out right away and gauging if you feel ANY physical sensation whatsoever. Not a high, just ANY perceivable physical sensation of having taken the hit. If not, gradually increase ur dose each session til u do.

This is how u find ur minimal effective dose, and u stick there. after 1 week of these microdose hits, you will essentially be reset tolerance-wise. and this has a profound impact on the recovery of your baseline performance. The trick is maintaining that level, or stopping entirely, and not being seduced into starting your addiction over by having the tolerance of your 14 year old self all over again.

Because all the problems and epic goliath level tolerance WILL resurface within one week of resuming your old pattern of consumption. The biggest problem is taking more than one hit. THATS where tolerance starts. Ever notice all the old timers and deadheads literally smoke one hit and are blasted off their fucking asses? Yeah, thats how. They accidentally stumbled on this secret of nature in the era of no internet and no medical cannabis.

They made due with what they got, didnt have a culture of one upmanship and being the cool guy who can take 4 bong rips to the face, and are much better for it. My dad is a musician born in the 70s and I could never fathom how he and ALL of his friends universally get shit faced stoned from a single hit of shwag out of a pipe and Im sitting there taking 6 dabs and feeling functional and wishing it worked like it used to.

Once I found Dr Sulak's protocol and experienced it for myself my eyes were opened. You have to sign up for his site for the full step by step, but its free, dont worry.

Hope this helps!
