First thing that is important is to know whether she is more book heavy or movie heavy. From what I can gather it sounds that she, like me, absolutely adores the books and everything written by Jo and has seen the movies but doesn't necessarily hold them as cannon. This narrows your options because the most ideal present isn't going to be something from Warner Bros.

For example, I had a family member suggest this for a fellow Harry Potter bookworm. It's lovely, but I suggested a copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone since it's something we both had our eyes on. (Being in the US our copies are all Sorcerer's Stone)

If there's a book set that she doesn't have, that's always a great addition. There's also beautiful editions of the Tales of Beadle the Bard available. If you're crafty, you can always get a set of the books or maybe just her favourite and redesign it so its leather bound or create themed bookmarks.

When I presented my sister her copy of the books I hand designed a letter for her on paper that looked like parchment with a Harry Potter theme font. (I'll post a picture if I can, I don't have it posted to any image sharing sites).

The best advice I can offer you is to take anything from the world and personalise it. It will be the most special to her if it is not only linked to Harry Potter and the Wizarding world, but also to the both of you. Such as creating a stationery set based upon her house. Some quill pens, ink, wax seal kit, notepaper, etc.

I wish you the best :)

Pottermore can be really difficult to navigate, but it's a great source for long descriptions of things you encounter in the Wizarding World. However, since you're so new to this world, I'd recommend using the HP Lexicon if you have any questions about characters, spells, potions, creatures, maps of Hogwarts Castle, and many more.

They also have a bunch of official books they've released over the years that delve deeper into the world (though rely heavily on the films for inspiration). These include Magical Places, The Creature Vault, The Artifact Vault, and The Character Vault.

Also, the HP-Companion site goes through the books chapter by chapter with artwork and comments on it that could help you better understand what's going on, if needed. They've had some issues with bugs, but so far the 1st book has been completely fixed.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Harry Potter!
