I'm thinking of going with this one.

As a grown up who'll be taking this on my commuter rail every day, plain black tough case all the way. The BotW case is really cool though.

u/Fireblend · 10 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you have money to spare, there's nothing classier than a Waterfield CitySlicker.

I have one of these cheap HORI ones, it's great :P

u/vagrantwade · 9 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I think the one in the OP looks way better. But taste is subjective.

I think Hori's is better than the official one;

As a very petite female, I envy your pocket carrying abilities. I carry mine in a Jibanyan pouch that hooks onto one of my belt loops. I get asked about Yokai Watch by a lot of people curious about the game and always tell them how much fun it is, Nintendo or Level 5 should pay me for my PR work 😂 I can't wait for the Switch, though! My 3DS is also carried in a HORI case and I'm getting one for the Switch, too: https://www.amazon.com/Tough-Pouch-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01MR63I6F

Some recommended Switch accessories:

  • A tempered glass screen protector such as ORLZY, Spigen or AMFilm. All are excellent only reason AMFilm gets more recommendations as it was first to market.

  • A protective case like Hori Tough Pouch

  • Hori LAN Adapter if you play online lots as the Switch has very weak WiFi service. Also other lan adapters may work but only the Hori one is officially supported.

  • Hori Play Stand if you frequently play in table top mode or need to charge while in table top mode.

  • Pro Controller

  • The [Google Pixel USB C-C charger] (https://store.google.com/product/usb_type_c_18w_power_adapter) as it is easy to find locally, even on sale, and more compact than the Nintendo one but it won't power the dock.

  • Nintendo A-C cable (comes with the Pro Controller)

  • Your choice of headphones

  • A larger bag such as Butterfox Carry All case to hold your EDC (every day carry).

  • PowerA Cartridge Cases if you need extra game storage on the go (comes in several designs).

  • RAVPower 26800 PD a battery pack with both Type C in and out such as this one. Type C is means quicker charging and Type C out to safely power the Switch while using it.

  • PowerA Hybrid Cover might also be of interest to some people. I have not used it though as it is not my style. There are a few different colour/designs.

Personally, for me, I believe that the best case is the Sheikah Slate that comes with BotW SE. EB and Best Buy both said that they will have it, so be on the look out for them, cuz amazon is out.

The same case, with different designs, is made by PDP. You can get them via these links: 1, 2, 3, 4.

This one is quite close to the Sheikah Slate as well, but it doesn't ship to where I am, so I'm not sure it would ship to you.

PDP also has this amazing looking soft canvas cases if you're interested: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

You could also go with Hori hard case, which is ugly af, but looks extremely sturdy. But then the actual case from Nintendo (it's not available yet, just wait for it I guess?) is quite close to the Hori one as well, I guess.

I'm throwing all those links at you, because, I have NO idea who Biogenik are and a quick Google doesn't result in anything positive about them.

As for screen protector, for me generally, any film protector would make the screen look worse. They are also a lot more likely to get scratches than the screen alone. I'd recommend a tempered glass screen protector if you get one at all. Here are some, one from Orzly, and one from CaseBase. Orzly seems like the better choice since you get 2, and their other tempered glass protectors are very highly rated.

I'm using the tough pouch by Hori, I really like it. Protects my switch well, I also throw in my wrist straps and a few games. Doesn't have any funky smell to it like a lot of the other 3rd party cases do. I picked mine up at Toys R Us, it's also available at Amazon.

u/jedimika · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm getting the Hori case and the only tempered glass protectors I could find

The screen protector won't arrive at launch, so I'll just be extra careful for a while.

u/nekoxandu · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

My Switch also has this crack. I noticed it about a week ago now, and I wanted to make a post on this subreddit, but I knew that I would receive a swarm of downvotes, and people telling me I dropped it, when I know that I did not. I keep my Switch in this case when it's not in the dock or in my hands. I have babied this thing, as I worked hard to get it.

I'm putting together an album of images on imgur here of people suffering from cracks in the same area, and other areas on the backplate of the Switch. I have asked some people for images that reported having the problem, but did not post an image. If you'd like me to add yours to the album, PM me. This might end up being useful to have in the future.

In regards to people claiming that this is not a manufacturing issue, and that this must be coming from physical damage, I think the imgur album speaks for itself. I highly doubt all of these people are lying and all dropped their consoles, and they are getting cracked in the exact same spot over and over again.

My main worry is that Nintendo screwed the pooch on this one, and in order to hit the price point they needed, they cheaped out on the materials for the outer casing of the console. I think that if we can get one of the gaming sites who got a review unit of the Switch to notice that theirs has a crack in it without having taken any physical trauma, we might have something to go on in regards to some people saying that Nintendo will not repair their unit.

u/No_Hands_55 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Nice, ill definitely fill it out. I want a high quality version of something similar to this.

The HORI gamecase seems fairly barebones

u/nndttttt · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Tempered glass screen protector and a nice case are must haves.

I use a Hori Tough Pouch and an Orzly Tempered glass screen protector. I would also recommend thumbgrips, the one on the switch are a bit slippery and it'll prevent wear and tear as well like this. I use Skill & Co. Skin set.

I haven't gotten the pro controller because I spend most of my switch time on the transit and the grip has been okay for home. My friends have all said it's a must have, I'm just waiting for a sale to grab it.

Because you've played botw already, I say get the controller. Better yet, get another game on your list instead! I'd recommend a multiplayer game so you can use the switch for what it's meant for.

u/pbbpwns · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

The [Hori Tough Pouch] (https://www.amazon.com/Tough-Pouch-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01MR63I6F) has been doing its job really well for me! The Nintendo Switch fits right in there and does not shake while travelling. There is also an extra compartment to store game cartridges. The exterior is solid and will protect the Switch well if it is dropped.

u/miceryl · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm getting the HORI Switch Tough Case from Amazon UK, but looks like it's out of stock now. I thought GAME had some things too?

u/Lethalbuns · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Yea, I think the Hori Tough Pouch gets it pretty close. Though It would be nicer if it has a pouch on the top lid that's as wide as the center divider flap.

u/Felensis · 2 pointsr/nintendoswitchde
  • amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector. Astreiner, kratzfester und stabiler Displayschutz. Sollte jeder Switch-Besitzer drauf haben (Alternative: Orzly).

Schutztasche kann ich sonst das Hardcase von Hori empfehlen.

This isn't the case you asked about, but check out the third picture here which shows the inside
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B01MR63I6F/

Since they both say they hold 5 games and joycon straps I'd expect the insides to be similar. If you zoom in you can see 5 individual elastic pouches to hold games. It's lining the top of the dividing piece of fabric, easy to miss. Then right below that you have another elastic band in the centre. I'm assuming this can hold the two joycon straps parallel.

u/fntigre · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

This is the one I'm using. Not a true hard case, but I'll be using it to start out.

Holds games too...

If he wants something discrete and compact then the Hori Tough Case might be worth looking at.

If he's a big Zelda fan then he might like one of the Zelda cases, the RDS ones are a bit bulkier but also come with little Zelda branded cartridge holders.

u/LeKnuth · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I'm very happy with the Hori Case.

The shell is harder than the official case, it fits 5 games and the Joy-Con grips.

u/deuslunus · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Are you having a hard time choosing the best accessories for your Switch? I personaly can't decide between these carry cases:

u/fitzmx6 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I have https://www.amazon.com/Tough-Pouch-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01MR63I6F/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1492783506&sr=1-2&refinements=p_4%3AHOR and Im quite happy with it. Travel to work every day with it in my backpack. My only concern is when I have more than 6 games. I trade in a lot so it may no happen for physical anyway.

u/deanze1 · 1 pointr/gameswap

Yeah that makes sense. Maybe one of the following extras: a Hori case, an Orzly Comfort Grip Case for Switch, or Minecraft: Story Mode (Switch). Any of these appeal to you?

u/Solidusfunk · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Oh man! I haven't found anywhere in the UK to buy this, I think the case looks quality and robust. I went for the Hori one from amazon!

Its rather boring, nothing like the Zelda one melts

u/M1NEC4R · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I went with Hori's case simply because I've been getting their cases since the DSlite. I feel I can trust Hori's build quality in terms of protection, I always throw a portable in my bag for commuting so I know they can take a beating. I can always just get another case when others hit the market or if I feel like it doesn't tic every box for how I wind up playing the system.

https://www.amazon.com/Tough-Pouch-Nintendo-Switch-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01MR63I6F

u/TopTierBeard · 1 pointr/GameSale

Yeah the case is great. It has a slot where you slide the cartridge in so you don't need to lug around the game boxes. Link below:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MR63I6F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1gOvzbQD9Y70N

I would be asking for 475 shipped. I still have the original box for the console itself, and the pro controller. To put it in perspective, I spent close to $600 when all was said and done. Didn't play much handheld, mainly used docked with the pro controller. Adult owned, smoke free home. All that jazz.

I don't want to sell but we just bought a house and I need money for a lawnmower. Check my post history - just sold a ton at /r/hardwareswap when I broke down my gaming PC.

All in, you'd get the Neon switch, pro controller, Zelda, Mario Kart 8 DLX, screen protector (installed), hori case, hori console stand, and dock sock to prevent screen scratches from the dock (custom made from Switzerland!).

Glad to answer any questions.

Evan

u/kratosauron0 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I looked online and saw prices ranging from $300-500. Is there any difference between these consoles other than the skin?

The $300 base model of the Nintendo Switch (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01LTHP2ZK/) does not include any games, but is still what you should most likely buy. More expensive models may have games bundled or free in-game currency (e.g. Fortnite), but they shouldn't be more than $350 (plus tax). At $360, you're not really saving any money, and anything more expensive than THAT is from a third party trying to make a quick buck. The console itself currently has few variations; most of your customization will depend on what color controllers you get with the console.

What type of accessories am I going to need?

This depends on your use case. I'd recommend getting a screen protector (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/). If you expect to bring the Switch out of the house a lot, also get a case (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MR63I6F/). Anything else, like special controllers (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0748S3GXG/) or a dock cover (https://www.etsy.com/listing/560319070/), is largely unnecessary right now; look into them when you find you need extra joy-cons (https://smile.amazon.comdp/B078GZM4H8/) or a tabletop stand (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9RTMWS/) for your Switch. In the end, you should not be spending more than $400 for the Switch, one game, and core accessories.

As for games, so far I planned on buying Smash Bros, Let's Go Pikachu, and One's Justice. Can you recommend any other games? I was never into Zelda but hear the new game is very good.

How old is your kid? Super Mario Odyssey (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MY7GHKJ/) is fun, and has a great co-op mode if you want to play together. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is also always a blast (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N1037CV/). I'm also a huge fan of Splatoon 2 (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9QVIRV/), but it's probably better for older kids because it requires more dexterity. There's lots of games to recommend, but it'll help to know what your kid already likes... or what you want your kid to like ;)

Side note: To play online, you need Nintendo Switch Online (https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/). It's $20 a year for one ACCOUNT, or $35 a year for 8 accounts. Each account also has separate save files, if multiple people will be playing on the same Switch. Smash Ultimate and Mario Kart both have online modes, but Splatoon's primary game modes are online-only.

Whats the difference between mario party and mario space odyssey?

Super Mario Odyssey is an action-platformer for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party is a virtual board game for the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Galaxy is an action-platformer for the Wii, a completely different console.

Let us know if you have follow-up questions!

u/moeggz · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

This. It is the one I have, its cheap and holds console, joy con straps, and games all snugly.

u/TemptedTemplar · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

system case only

Hard case for system and games

and soft case for games and system

The "official" nintendo case is basically sold out everywhere. whats left are a variety of licensed cases.

u/Rosero_e · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

First one is more elllaborate, the official one is very simple, seems like won't do too well with drops. I went with this one:
HORI Tough Pouch (Black) for Nintendo Switch Officially Licensed by Nintendo https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MR63I6F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_apkRybA07NSY1

Great protection, good price.
All the best!

u/TornadoCreator · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Honestly never bothered with Screen Protectors for anything. Don't use them for my phone or my Vita either. I have a carry case for my Vita and a normal flip-open phone case. That works well enough I find.

Would recommend you pick up this case - https://www.amazon.co.uk/HORI-Switch-Tough-Case-Nintendo/dp/B01MR63I6F/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YKARMVB7RKBEDG2BPDBE

I like the Hori brand case. Used them for my PSP, Vita, and 3DS. So I know they're good quality. So long as you look after your device, there's no reason you should ever have the screen scratched. Just remember, don't pull or tilt towards yourself when taking the Switch out of the dock, that's how the dock ends up scuffing the screen.

u/halfmilkman · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I use the Hori Tough Pouch. I don't have any problems with it, other than I think the elastic band is a little unnecessary and makes it slightly annoying to take the Switch out of the case; but it's not that big of a deal.

u/vgskid · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I don't think that's hard. This HORI one is the hard case.

u/beyondbidj · 0 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I use this carrying case by Hori. It has room for extra cartridges. There should be other designs.
